Turns out they had a hardware failure at the SMTP relay.. just as we were about to be migrated to the Openhive Mail filters, the engineer fixed the problem, and mail started flowing... I wonder what system we'll be on tomorrow.. how exciting!

We're currently experiencing a failure of our outbound connector (outbound1.equinoxit.net), with this message: "451 4.4.0 Primary target IP address responded with: "421 Unexpected log failure, please try later." Attempted failover to alternate host, but that did not succeed. Either that are no alternate hosts, or delivery failed to all alternate hosts." This started on Friday afternoon, and the queue is obviously growing. Internal mail, and indeed incoming mail, is working fine - does anyone know if they are having a problem with the SMTP connector at the moment? Have they changed it? We are migrating to OpenHive, and we've had precious little information or contact about (it was supposed to be in over Summer, but not heard anything recently). Just wondering if it's us, or them, that has the issue. No config changes here at all. Advice appreciated! Having trouble talkingto anyone, as Synetrix say talk to Atomwide, and that's an automated system that wants our DFE number (and promptly says it isn't valid! - very helpful!) Cheers, Ian

This is what we do - XenDesktop using Wyse terminals. No hit on performance really, but the servers are pretty beefy to be fair, so each VM has a good amount of resources allocated to it. It's not cheap I suppose, but solves lots of issues with rolling software out etc (obviously, you only do it once, on a single, base, VM). This way we know that everyone gets a working, clean, desktop everytime they log on.

It's only just down the road..

Sorry - don't do weekends.

If you can collect early next week - £100 for the lot. We're generous you know.

Sorry - don't have any packaging, or indeed time to pack them up if I did. Does seems a shame to scrap them, but that's what will happen, due to time and space constraints.

There are also spare HDD's in caddies for the DL's, and three spare hotswap PSU's.

I'll add to this list during the day, but so far: 4 * DL360 G4p - 2 * CPU (3.0Ghz), 2 * 72Gb HDD, 4Gb RAM (one has single fan fault, easily sourced and fixed - I just don't have the spare fan block) 1 * DL360 G4p - 2 * CPU (3.0Ghz), 2 * 72Gb HDD, 2Gb RAM 1 * DL360 G4p - 1 * CPU (3.4Ghz), 2 * 72Gb HDD, 4Gb RAM 1 * DL380 G4 - 2 * CPU (3.4Ghz), 5 * 72Gb HDD, 8Gb RAM All HP's have floppy and optical drive. Some *may* have additional NIC cards, or SCSI cards. All have rail kits for rack mounting, and are in good order. Open to any offer, or swap for interesting gadget. Pretty much any offer will be taken Collection only, from Middlesex.

Apple TV and Class Set of Ipads

You can add a connection password to the Apple TV. If they know that password, there isn't much more you can do at present, I think.. -
What's wrong with my ProCurve 5308xl (or its config)?

I've GOT a consultant in at the moment - I'll pass this over his desk in the morning and see if he can spot anything obvious(to him).. He is extremely good, and I've had him in every year to help out with some switch configuration or other. He's doing some stuff that means he probably has time for this, so I'll let you know if he has any ideas.. -
HP servers (DL380 G8p's mostly - mostly with quad, some hex- core with 128Gb RAM minimum (95% virtualised environment)), NetApp SANs, HP PoE Procurve switches with 10Gb ethernet modules. For backup an Overland tape library (LTO5). Desktops - mostly Wyse thin clients with a hard glass TFT's. Room solution APC UPS for server room. Cabinet UPS's for critical switch locations (to bursary and DR room for example).

Recording Time-Lapse Video over Summer Holiday

I've done this before, for the same reason you want to. I used an Axis CCTV camera (network - a 210 I think it was). It has an FTP client built in to the onboard software, so I just configured that to upload an image, to the FTP server I set up, every 10 minutes. I had a small piece of software (I forget the name) that took all the jpgs from a directory and turned them all into a movie clip. Turned out really well. I guess you could get a network cam like this for a small enough outlay now - I did mine a few years back, and it wasn't that expensive back then.
