Sounds like a good opportunity to report them to ofcom. Trying to make you pay a cancellation fee even though they've increased the price. I bet they catch loads of people with this that don't even try fight it. They'll just pay it.

We have a few macs that we manage. They are a pain as there's so little of them that it's not something we spend much time on. Once they are setup and running they kind of get left for the year. We usually keep them up-to-date when possible. I do find having an MDM makes it much easier better. We use Jamf Pro so we can install and run commands from there. I find IOS devices easier to administer but still a pain to look after as we have so many.

Edit: I re-read your question and realised what I said wouldn't work. Is it possible to use the exclusion rules area?

This is weird. I had a student come in yesterday with the same issue. She had about 6 emails from last year that re-sent themselves again. There wasn't much I could do but I said it's possible they where stuck in your outbox but also seems odd as she's been emailing fine for the last year so why suddenly send them now? The gmail logs showed that the emails where sent at 3:30 in the morning when she was asleep. Possibly when the iPad updated itself? Wasn't really any troubleshooting I could do. Just found this: https://support.google.com/mail/thread/16247793?hl=en Seems to be something to do with the IOS13 update and gmail. Not sure if it's an apple or gmail issue.

Thread resurrection incoming! This thread came up from googling. Does anyone know if it's possible to use Command Reporter to force the CSV file to save as UTF-8 encoding? When I run the /paramdef switch, the XML is showing "us-ascii". Is there any way of changing this to UTF-8?

Jigsaw24, Albion, Stormfront, Academia, amsys are some we've used/spoke to in the past. Academia always comes out cheapest these days for us.

We have exam logins setup and they can only access them from specific computers. We have group policy which locks down quite a lot. This is coursework so they can access it at any time, even remotely from home if they wish. I just can't see a way of stopping them from copying it without removing the read access. I guess you could argue that they can easily take a photo of it on their phones if they really wanted to.

We're now running some computer science courses and the Exam board have said the exam materials can not be copied by the students. I can't find a way to disallow students from copying without taking away their read permissions. Does anyone else have a locked down environment for coursework material?

Yep, AC2 is what you need to use. Are your devices in DEP/ASM? If they are, make sure the prestage enrolment they are in have the correct settings so you don't have to choose options like signing into the iPad if the iPad isn't going to be assigned to a user. We pretty much turn off everything except Location Services as this helps set the time. Once the prestage is setup, you can just plug the iPads into AC2 and "Prepare" them. You will need to create a Wifi profile on the MAC as part of the prepare setup. This will make the iPads look at your Jamf instance for its settings. The only thing you then need to do is go through whatever options you allowed in the prestage. Might be worth turning on Shared Content/ Caching on the MAC.

We don't do any sys prepping any more. We just extract the WIM file from the ISO and upload the WIM file to MDT. The ISO contains quite a few different WIMs depending on the version of Windows that you want. For this reason, you need to find out what version of Windows you want to use and extract the correct WIM. You can do this by running: "dism /Get-WimInfo /WimFile:F:\sources\install.wim" This will list all the index numbers for each wim. You can then use the next command to extract the wim file. This command will get wim index number 2. dism /export-image /SourceImageFile:F:\sources\install.wim /SourceIndex:2 /DestinationImageFile:C:\W10\install.wim /Compress:max /CheckIntegrity We then only need to replace the OS Deploy task sequence with the new WIM so everything else is kept the same. Our start menu and task bar is deployed via an XML file at the end of the imaging process. We download the Cumulative Updates from https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Home.aspx and add them to the task sequence. .Net Framework 3.5 is installed as a package also.

You've not got many options really if you don't have an MDM or Mac on site. The only way you can set them up is as you say although I think signing into the same Apple ID on 6 devices is not recommended (if purchasing apps).

I'm not sure there is a better way for what you want. That's why this year we're creating specific cover classes for subjects. This means we only require 1 extra class per subject that everyone has access to.

Hmm, the shared device shouldn't need assigning to a student in Airwatch. It's only the staff ones that need assigning. If a student signs into a shared device then a teacher of that classes should be able to manage it. Are you using true shared mode where the students tap on their name/picure?

You can ask the teachers of the classroom to add the cover supervisors or use GAM to do this yourself. We're actually creating specific cover classrooms this year for each subject. The teachers of the subjects will be teachers of the classroom with all other teachers being students. For example, Languages will have a classroom for cover work. The languages staff will be teachers and all other teaching staff will be students. We also add the cover supervisors as students to these classes.

Okay, I don't think staff are able to use a shared iPad with Apple Classroom. They will need their own one assigning to them. The iPad needs to be assigned to the teacher that has been assigned to teach that class. In ASM, the teacher needs to be assigned to the classes. In Airwatch, the iPad needs to be assigned to the member of staff. This will then generate a edu profile for the teacher.

Apple Classroom app is only for teachers to manage student devices. It's not for students to use? Is the issue on the student iPads? Do the staff have their own iPad or are they using a shared iPad too?

It caches what ever the iPads request from apple. You can't see what it caches. You just have to assume that it's working. You can see caching data information in the Activity Monitor on the Mac Server. There is a cache section at the top right which will display the amount of data servered to various things.

The caching server just needs to be attached to the network. You can then configure it further to only cache from specific IPs if you want. If they're all on the same IP range it should be fairly straight forward. What are you using as your caching server? The caching server will tell apple servers that you're available to cache content on your public IP address and apple will register this. The devices will then look for data on the caching server first, if they can't find what they're looking for it will go to Apple.

Hmm, I remember doing something similar last year. Can't remember what is was now but I used a piece of software that you uploaded a word list to and you chose what it did. For example, you can tell it to combine 2 random words together with a number at the end. The hardest part was finding a long enough list of child friendly words. This year we asked the teachers to fill in a locked down google sheet so they can choose their own passwords.

Not sure if this is the correct are for this post so please move if you think it belongs somewhere else. Does anyone use PTX Bacs for their payments? We're struggling to get the browser plugin application to run as a normal user. The only way the application will run is to login as the local admin account. Even if we make the user an admin on their machine or create another local admin account it doesn't work.
