  1. This came up when IOS 14 was released so if you've not restored an iPad since IOS14 was release then you need to plug in an iPad that is already on IOS 14. This will prompt the mac to download the extra software for ios14.
  2. Have you tried changing the auth type to browser to see if that works: https://support.google.com/a/answer/7644837?hl=en ForceBrowserAuth
  3. I updated our Offboarding script to deal with GAM Licensing. When a staff member leaves we run a script to offboard them which includes their google license: gam user $username delete license gsuiteenterpriseeducation Each license has it's own name. For example, student license is called: gsuiteenterpriseeducationstudent I guess you could probably create a script to run each night that removes licenses from those in a leavers ou.
  4. We had Meru a few years ago and had quite a few wifi issues. We've had aruba for the last couple of years and it seems so much better. I'm not involved in the purchasing side of it so can't comment on the cost.
  5. We're in the process of sending a lot of our old iPad Air 1s and Air 2s back to Academia. We're going through each one before hand to make sure they are wiped and don't have activation lock on them. I don't know what their plan with them is but you can check to see if academia sell refurbed iPads.
  6. I haven't figured out a way to get a SIMS report in the correct format to give me multiple teachers per classroom. I even put a ticket in with our SIMS support provider and they say it's not possible. I believe Salamander can do this but not sure how! We have our classes created at the beginning of the year and then turn the sync off. If any changes need to be made then teachers do it or we use gam.
  7. Not international but I tend to read /r/k12sysadmin a lot which seems to be mostly US based. I come a cross quite a few posts that mention Power School and Infinite Campus quite a lot. I guess they are the main ones in the US.
  8. Nice! Didn't see this before. Thanks for the info
  9. We just used Google Meet and it went okay. Our teachers used one link that they sent out and would only let parents in when it was their time to join. The issue we ran into was some parents used their students to login which by-passes the ability for teacher to accept people into the meet. The student account would go straight into the meeting even if the teacher was talking to another parent. Students and parents where specifically told not to use student accounts but I guess some didn't read it properly.
  10. This only searches your own google account and not everyone in the domain?
  11. I just had this. Was looking at settings for google meet as a teacher was saying it's not working for year 2. The google meet settings where exactly the same as everyone else's but it wasn't working. Eventually found out the app was turned off for their OU.
  12. Yep, I have to use GAM for everything. You can't administer google without it. I hate not having a gui overview of all classrooms. Get quite a lot of requests from staff to make changes to classrooms or add new or transfer ownership to someone else as the teacher has left. Would be much easier if I could see classrooms and make changes with a few button click. With gam you usually have to run a few commands to get the information you need before you can make changes. One other thing I don't understand is why can't I search for all files with our domains google drive. You can only search files using the audit log/security tool which means they only show up if you've edited them in the past 6 months. If nothings changed in 6 months you can't see it. This then leads you to using GAM to run a command to get a list of all files from all users which takes forever and doesn't pickup users that are disabled. Last thing, why no audit log on google classrooms? Would be nice to see if a student is telling the truth about "randomly losing access to a classroom".
  13. Not sure if it will help or not but this seems to be the link the website is using for the video: https://wus-streaming-video-msn-com.akamaized.net/d79580e3-13cb-4d0a-a8c4-137a4318bfd5/130567fd-258e-4d18-80c0-1c4cb131_2250.mp4
  14. I guess its the same with Jamf pro in which you have to pay for the Jamf Kick Start which usually includes setup and training. After that, you should only then pay for device licenses.
  15. Do you have the adobe creative cloud application installed. You might be able to sign out of this which might sign you out of Adobe Acrobat. I can't give a definite answer but I can't see any harm in starting the trial just so you can sign out and sign in with the correct account.
  16. This is adobe acrobat dc which requires a license to use. The free version is adobe reader. What sort of licensing do you have for Adobe Acrobat DC?
  17. Have a look through this thread to see if any of the solutions help: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-10/216550-windows-10-random-no-internet-issue.html
  18. The website automatically expires code after 1 week. Here it is again: https://paste.ofcode.org/v4NLFiyzEnVPuiZmNEqkTf This only works with the WID version of WSUS.
  19. Might be worth having some visuals popup when you use the volume controls.

    £500 Gaming pc

I'm a PC gamer and don't really play on consoles unless I have to but modern consoles allow you to plug keyboard and mouse in these days.

    £500 Gaming pc

Just note that the computer has no operating system installed with it.
  22. I did think this when they first announced it. It is only used for homework. I think their argument would be that this is the parents way of accessing the student homework and shouldn't be used by the student.
  23. Parents have joined as students using their own personal gmail accounts.
  24. Are they logging in with their own school google account? My sons school has asked parents to use Google Classroom with a personal google account.

    £500 Gaming pc

I don't think you'll find a decent gaming pc for £500. Even 2-3 year old graphic cards are going for £300 2nd hand. It will depend on what games they want to play tbh. If it's just minecraft then you can probably get a cheap gaming PC but if you want anything like Fortnite or CoD then you will need to spend a lot more.
