  1. Any rooted android phone can fake it's MAC address in about 20s. There are apps on the market to make it idiot proof.
  2. Netbios is the computer name so you have one or more machines with the same netbios name. I guess because you're imaging them?
  3. Your ZFS implementation is maybe buggy? https://github.com/zfsonlinux/zfs/issues/626 Also from there, in your share definition you can do: vfs objects = shadow_copy2 shadow: snapdir = .zfs/snapshot shadow: sort = desc shadow: format = AutoH-%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M To make the ZFS snapshots work as 'shadow copies'
  4. I got a second hand Samsung Galaxy S2 for £150.
  5. This is a shell command, not a configuration option. zfs set snapdir=visible zpool/zfilesystem
  6. You shouldn't try and solve a social issue with technology. It never ever works out the way you want. In this particular case I would do the best job you can given the time/budget/technology limitations you have then if people still have an issue then kick the problem up to management and leave the SMT/Governers to mull it over. To put a further spanner in the works, what about BYOD (for example smart phones). It's very easy to access all the porn you want in your school with a smart phone connected to a mobile network (for bonus points you could even tether it to a computer). Do all your Internet access policies disappear because they aren't accessing the material over your network connection even though they are on school premises in school hours?
  7. The main problem is the contract with the commercial supplier of the line. Depending on when it was last renewed and what type of line it is CLEO are basically passing the cost of early termination on to the school. This can get quite expensive for high speed fibre leased lines. It's best to find out when the commercial contract expires that CLEO has with with it's supplier and ask for a contract termination on or around that date.
  8. Are you planning on using VLAN isolation?
  9. I have some network infrastructure I need to put in in a new building we're moving into. Can anyone recommend a cabler in the Northwest (Lancashire area, I'm in Chorley more or less).
  10. You need to monitor your routers SNMP counters with something like cacti. To check Smoothwall you can probably do the same (does smoothwall do SNMP? I'd hope so?) or rely on its internal reports. Upstream of your own equipment you're a bit stuck. The best you can do is say 'not my fault' and start pointing fingers at RM then mail them lots of graphs. Outside of raw speed. Your DNS might be the problem? Have you checked hostnames resolve in a timely manner (your upstream DNS might be overloaded, again still RMs problem).
  11. Yep, totally agree with this. Running this combo here too.
  12. Oh wait, FPE is discontinued... Important Changes to Forefront Product Roadmaps - Microsoft Server and Cloud Platform Blog - Site Home - TechNet Blogs
  13. It's not very effective unless you go the full Forefront route.
  14. Find an IP that's unallocated and manually assign the AP's mac address to that ip in your local arp table. arp -s
  15. Use of the internal dns is optional. There's nothing stopping using ISC BIND/DHCP (Which I imagine a few people do, I certainly have a couple of BIND servers here).
  16. Your best bet (if it's installed) is 'nano' failing that use 'vi' (its not quite as straightforward to use). You'll need a static DNS entry put in your DNS server for the machine if it's not running DHCP. Otherwise if you run DHCP you'll need a static lease and also have to alter the dhcpclient config so it updates it's DNS records itself (unlike Windows, Linux wont do this unless you tell it to). Leaving it on a dynamic is probably not a good idea if you want to send mail through it.
  17. edit '/etc/networking/interfaces' are you sure that's what you want though?
  18. Be more specific, post the output from 'lspci'.
  19. Is that an IP within your network range? Did it get it from DHCP?
  20. ifconfig not ipconfig. Also I believe mailcleaner is a Debian based distro so the networking config will be in '/etc/networking/interfaces'. Edit that file with a text editor then reboot.
  21. also 'ps aux | grep ssh'
  22. post the output from 'ifconfig' and 'find / -name ip_configurator'
  23. Yes it does, if you set it up. You did read the installation docs didn't you? documentation:installation [Mailcleaner]
  24. First off, make sure your LEA hasn't firewalled off NTP. If not then set your DCs to use NTP via group policy. Windows Time Service Tools and Settings: Windows Time Service Your clients sync with your DCs so only your DCs need to use NTP.
  25. Yeah this is basic MSSQL DBA stuff. I'm surprised that Sims doesn't sort this out itself though? I know Capita take a dim view of people prodding the Database directly.
