Hi all, I'm attempting to set up some Chromebooks on the schools WiFi network. Initially I set them up with the SSID/Password, so they connect automatically to the WiFi, and then (ideally) let the pupils should log into their Google accounts. However, the web filter/proxy we use is designed for Windows and as there is no AD integration in the Chromebook, it pops up a login box (username/password) in the Chrome browser, were it needs the AD credentials (which do match the Google credentials). It then lets them log into their Google accounts (as they are auth'ed on the web filter). This double login is perceived as real issue by staff who have played with the Chromebooks and needs fixing. The solution seems to be WPA2 Enterprise 802.1x logins using PEAP/MS-CHAP V2 (set up on the Google domain & the WiFi controller), a Radius server on the Windows Domain Server and and an accounting feed on the WiFi controller to push the login credentials to the web filter/proxy server. My question though is this - when this is set up, does it genuinely only ask for the login details ONCE? As from what I can see it will ask for the details in the WiFi login (which will ask the Radius server to check with the AD, and feed them to the web Proxy), but will still ask you to log into your Google account? I don't know how many people on here work in Milton Keynes now, but I just thought I'd ask what you were doing to replace the mkschools.net service that imploded at the beginning of December? I've not heard of any schools that have decided to pick up the councils recommended new MKSP service. V.

In my case it was the Smart Tech software that caused the IE blank page issue, installing the new version of the software instantly fixed the issue and seemed to make Office happier too. The software listed above is now available for general download and is seems to the be the version installed if you do an update from within the Smart software. Happy days!

Ah, so it's not just me then... I totally agree, but the balls been put in my court, so to speak. The money is there "to do something great", I just need to come up with the ideas...

Yes, should have put that in... We've got plenty of PCs, a couple of laptop trolleys, Smart boards/projectors/PC in all the classes, a new-ish big central server, plenty of printers, etc. So the main IT infrastructure is sorted, as far as I can see. The extra budget is £10K-ish.

As per the title I seem to have been given some extra budget to to do something interesting to "push IT forward" in the school... I think the head is expecting something big, which can wow the kids, parents, governors, etc... But I've got no ideas... So thinking caps on!? V. PS. I wasn't sure which forum to drop this into, so if I've goofed, could a mod move to to somewhere better!

I seem to have landed some budget to replace our existing CCTV (GeoVision with composite video over Cat5) which works just great (stable and reliable), but could do with a few more cameras. The problem is that with refurbishments going on in school, I need to move to IP cameras, which I haven't really played with too much yet. So, can anyone recommend some cameras (not too expensive, but reliable) both indoor and out (must be POE), and something to record the video on? Your thoughts are greatly welcomed!

Where do you set the SANs up? I can't see anywhere in the DNS Management console (server 2003).

Just read the Amazon reviews for the MS Book Win7 book "MCTS Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-680): Configuring Windows 7", it seems pretty poor, there's even an MS KB to cover errors in the book... eek. Anyone got suggestions for a replacement?

glennda, My googling has failed me, as has adding random zones and A names to DNS management console. I've ended up with added a new zone under the forward lookup zones with the external FQDN and the ip address of the server, that didn't work, so I thought I may need a reverse lookup zone too, there's already one there for the subnet the server (and most of the clients) sits in, so I added a PTR. None of this has made any change. Any ideas or screen shots?

Before I start, I admit I'm no server expert, but I was pretty pleased that I managed to installed a new SSL cert on my server (courtesy of IPSCA - thanks for the hint) mainly for Outlook OWA. This fixed the SSL warning when accessing email from outside the school, but it's still complaining if the email is accessed from inside the school. I guess this is not surprising really as the internal server name doesn't match the external url inside the certificate. My question is how do I fix this as I can't see how to add another certificate to IIS ? Any help appreciated.
