Ping uses raw sockets to send the ICMP messages. Raw sockets are restricted to admin users. This restriction can be easily circumvented with WinPcap.

I wouldn't expose AD services like SMB/LDAP/Kerberos to the general Internet if could help it. Tunneling over a VPN is the right approach. Maybe look at why your VPN dies and fix that instead? -
from your log file your postfix installation is currently trying to relay via zimbra.wolsingham.internal (IP 10.0.0.6). That server is bouncing the mails because [email protected] doesn't exist as far as it's concerned.

I think you need to document when and how this room has 'issues'. I suggest you physically inspect it at lunch, breaks, after school, etc. You can maybe determine a pattern and start pointing fingers or if you are not comfortable with that then you have a large wedge of evidence to fall back on if the SMT come knocking wondering why half the IT maintainence budget disappeared fixing up one room repeatedly.

You still have to route this over a VPN, most ISPs block netbios. -
Also watch out if the router has VPN support enabled on itself. It may hold onto the ports and/or filter GRE even if you disable it.

All this does is encourage scientists to not monitor/report on seismic events for fear of being prosecuted. Oddly enough this leads to even more dead people than even bad warnings. -

Do you use Google Chrome on your curriculum computers?

I've also banned Java on my clients while I was at it. You can only use reparse points for directories. -

You need local admin and the machine needs to be running vista or better. NTFS on XP machines can't hardlink across network volumes. -

From my login script (I don't actually use this now, as I patched chromium in source to 'do the right thing'). mklink /h "C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\bookmarks" "s:\favourites\chrome\bookmarks" mklink /h "C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\bookmarks.bak" "s:\favourites\chrome\bookmarks.bak" -

Well because Chrome is based on Chromium and Chromium is open source, the security issues are fixed in the public source tree long before there is a Chromium based or Chrome binary release available (because of the open source license). So if you are really paranoid about this you should be building Chromium from source yourself. -

Is the updated driver in WSUS?

Because you can spend your VP on slots that you can't get quest rewards for (although you do need two rings).

Er no. Tekkit didn't get permission for all of the mods (and still doesn't). Which caused forestry to be coded by Sengir to be incompatible and therefore removed from the current version of Tekkit. Tekkit is stuck on Minecraft 1.2.5 and there is no prospect for versions beyond that. So it's basically a dead end.

Yeah so don't waste your VP buying rings and necks!

Just got Cloud Serpents to Exalted and won the race so there's no need for me to ever touch those dailies again. Slightly dismayed at the news that 5.1 brings even more daily quests for us to do! My other pet peeve is that LFR awards more VP than normal 10man.
