As apposed to pressing and holding to kill the power.

Try and disable S3 sleep in the power management settings of the bios, also check to see if there's a wake from USB option, some Dell BIOS has that option too. Have you tried just tapping the power button to see if it wakes?

Have you spoken to @ICTDirect_Dave? The after-sales service is excellent in my experience!

I reckon she'll be let off likely, it looks like her criminal record is squeaky clean...

Data Backup - What should and shouldn't I be backing up?
bald_pig replied to Janx1975's topic in How do you do....it?
To be honest, if you have the resources to do it, I say do it. Just make sure the backups are in multiple locations, no good if they're all in the server room and the room implodes! Only difference I'd make is backup to cloud storage instead of tape. Google has limits on drive uploads that aren't widely advertised, so double check that before deciding.- 4 replies

At my last school, they tried to go around me and went straight to the librarian and head of english to email them saying that IT was keeping your on-premise system out of date, you should move to hosted etc. Luckily they forwarded it on to me, and MLS received a very strongly worded reply on how we were on the latest available release, the only reason it was considered out of date is that they pulled the plug on the update they assured us was coming, and how so many others report issues that I'd be migrating to another system over moving to hosted. Talk about scummy sales practices!

Wouldn't even be for me to use! My "good" server in the school I'm in right now is rocking a pair of E5-2609 v2's with 64Gb of RAM! The other server is a E3-1225 v5 with 8Gb RAM... -

Nationwide Trust-E Cashless Catering Install
bald_pig replied to jj99's topic in How do you do....it?
It was the trust's decision to move the SIMS server and perform the steps that made it necessary to reinstall the software. If the trust hadn't made that decision, the reinstall wouldn't be necessary. Nationwide should provide install instructions but I guess they deliberately withhold the info so they can charge! -

My one piece of advice for you would be don't plug the UPS and the server you connected to it to the same commando socket, so if one fails for whatever reason you can continue running without failing over to battery power straight away.

IT Manager - Romford, Essex - £24,630 - £32145 - Closes 4/3/19

For anyone considering this position, I noticed that the position is actually based in Thurrock (My old secondary school!) -
Assuming that the overall lighting in the room remains consistent, then it sounds like you will need to dial in the settings manually until you get it right! Keep the ISO speed on 100, then I'd probably set the aperture to about f2 as well, with a shutter speed of about 1/8 of a second, and adjust shutter speed according to results. I'm not a pro photographer by far, there are plenty more experienced people who will hopefully be along to provide advice soon!

I think every petrolhead has used a Haynes manual at some point, he was a humble man who leaves quite the legacy behind.

Nothing near me unfortunately! I was lucky enough to be able to get to the flightpath for the Vulcan's final flight and the Queens Birthday flypast. https://www.flickr.com/photos/bald_pig_cool/albums/72157664601555351

I was going to say, even Intel have shifted the gpu onto the processor for the last few generations I believe.

What processor did you buy? not all the ryzen models come with gfx...

If you meant 9am, then yes. At the schools I've worked at, all staff were expected to monitor their emails throughout the day, teachers included. It's not an unreasonable expectation.

G Suite - Sharing a Team Drive between 2 Whitelisted Domains
bald_pig replied to TwistedHelixis's topic in Cloud Services
Only thing I can think of is if there's an overriding rule for the OU the owner of the team drive is in, or there's a bug that needs reporting to the G Suite team
