Most software wouldn't use File Sharing or RDP, they'd be using RPC, WMI or Powershell to do the install, and I don't think they can be disabled without serious effort.

If the laptop is still bootable, just no screen, why can't you install a remote viewing tool on there? We have Dameware here, it can be installed remotely.

You know when someone makes a powerpoint and ignores all the useful features, so the text boxes are kind of* centered and the images are kind of* reduced in size equally along both axis? Take that kind of design and apply it to SIMS. *(as in not even close!) -
Haven't looked at the config file, but couldn't you just copy a cfg with the change to the folder without faffing about, them running it first etc?

I'm on giffgaff, don't use data but have noticed my signal drop entirely a few times today. Also, apparently TFL use o2 for the bus times, so they aren't working today either!

Staff can see the C drive, they have appropriate permissions so cannot do anything silly.

Yes. It isn't installed on student machines, they have no need for it.

Just buy the newest generation you can afford, preferably i5 or above.

Short version is, if the camera doesn't support encryption, which 99% of don't, then you can't encrypt the SD. Here we've switched to cheap encrypted Android phones.
