Looking for a lockable drawer for our server rack. Somethings that i can lock our external drives in. Needs to have cable holes in the back so they can still be plugged in and also vents or fans for cooling. Anyone know of one? Cheers.

Strange isnt it, Going to see if the server with remote printers disables keeps growing before i start playing, wondering if it will eventually stop once its cached everything or does whatever it does.

Had a server fail any log ins last week, the DEFAULT hive file was over 1.5GB. Its located here C:\Windows\System32\config How big is yours? One server has remote app on and the other allows remote desktop. The remote server is now at 250MB and i had to extract the DEFAULT hive from the windows server install disk on the remote app one as it was the only way, started at 256kb now at 10MB already. I've disabled redirected printers and installed a few directly onto the server. Both servers are fully updated as i've been reading about a bug in the early days of R2. Going to have to clear DEFAULT every couple of months it looks like. Luckily the Recovery regedit on the install disk has a DEFAULT profile that doesnt mess anything up when i use it.

Thanks James, Makes sense, 1 credit is currently £61.09 azure money. Once youve used you credits it looks like youve got 12 month. If i buy 6 credits now and only claim one at a time do you know if the unclaimed credits will last longer? edit:Just found this link https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&ved=0CDYQFjABahUKEwjn_7jYxoTGAhUmm9sKHZU7AAY&url=http%3A%2F%2Fdownload.microsoft.com%2Fdocuments%2Fuk%2Fpartner%2Fazure%2FMicrosoftAzureinOpenLicensing-PartnerFAQ.pdf&ei=WeB3VafvIKa27gaV94Aw&usg=AFQjCNEhdjRIYk07dL9XttYBgM7wpGPSRw&bvm=bv.95039771,d.ZGU&cad=rja to the open FAQ, looks like if you dont claim them then they will last.

Did you load up your bag too much? Not seen any streamers having issues. Havnt played it myself but watched many hours. My 5200+ processor and old AMD grahpics card wouldn't take it. Want to try it but cant afford it if i doesnt work. I think theyve released it a bit early, in a years time when they release the proper version its going to seem old. Still think il get the ps4 version. Taming a Dodo, not seen anyone do that yet. Just the bigger stuff. Want to see someone tame the long necked Dino.
-
Wow. This game looks amazing!!!!!! It got dinosaurs that you can tame and ride! Looks like Dayz or H1z1 but appeals more to me. Any got a quick enough machine to play it? Only downside is everytime you see a dinosour you start humming Da na na na naaa, da na na na naaa, da na naa, na naaa, na naaaaaaaaa....

Office 365 - Do you have staff and students on the same tenant?
DCUK6 replied to tj2419's topic in Cloud Services
WE put them on seperate systems. Cant remember why. I know one reason is so i could give the ICT teacher access to the admin side of the pupil system. There was something office 365 that students didnt get along with. They love google mail. -
Looking to get 1TB of online storage from Microsoft Azure. Our supplier can supply us with Azure credits but couldnt get any info on how they worked. Anyone know how this would translate into storage size? Using the Azure calculator it would cost roughly £25 per month for just under 1TB. Cheers

Wow! We have a purchase one and its to complicated for visitors to use, Takes ages for them to sign in.
-
Be careful on ebuyer though, We tried to return a hard drive to them and after a couple of months and they wanted nothing to do with it. For business customers i think they said you get three months. They got really funny with my manager and quite rude,

I think there is a rule with Peugeot cars though that your genitalia has to be on your forehead to own one.

What he said. If they are paying for the fuel then a smaller petrol engine. Great fun, still miss my little metro, 1.1 gutless engine but that made it fun and it was light. Stuck like anything to the road. Still fancy a old honda civic but its hard to find a unmodded one these days. Reliable though. Wouldnt lease though for a works car especially if moving equipment. Your going to get a few dents. If you want a nicer Diesel that isnt so bad on shorter trips then a old Fabia vRs (No DPF), or a octavia vRS (will have to check on this one).

Not tried it but, How to Remove “Get Windows 10″ App and Its Icon from Taskbar? - AskVG easiest one looks to be the folder deletion. Set it up in GPP.

Realtek seems to be a nightmare. Had a few issues with that brand of stuff. Yeah, both panels connect directly into the MB. Just seems strange that when you use the audio from one and the usb from the other it's ok even when you have a usb in or stress testing the cpu. Can't think of a reason for it.
-
Have 25 machines all with the same issue. There is static coming through the front audio ports. Gets worse when you have a USB connected or doing something on the machine. Ive found that if we use a startech add on front panel it does the same. If we use the usb fron the original front panel and the audio from the startech however it disappears. Looking at the circuit of the startech panel there doesnt seem to be any connections going between the audio and USB> Weve tried replacing the motherboard with a different branded one, they are all using SSDs. Any thoughts?

What revolutionary changes have you made to your school?
DCUK6 replied to tj2419's topic in General Chat
Weve got computers now. Well they had some things that made noises before but so old I wouldn't call them computers. Unifi wireless throughout including guest networks. Central file server and desktops all redirected. No saving on the machines. Given staff read only access to pupil drives. biggest thing though is that problems get fixed quick now, before things would take so long to be done that staff had the passwords to do it themselves. Changed that before I even started here official Done the iPad thing which staff have taken to really well. I havnt given any training on them. -
Hi, Have some ipads connecting to the net using a proxy auto config file which points to the LEAs proxy. Problem is that Meraki wont connect through the proxy and port 80 is blocked for us. We do have a seperate secret line that we use for the phone line and my computer that has port 80 open and has no filtering. Is there any way for the wpad file to point Merakis data through this separate line without sending all data. I Normally change the gateway to access. Only way i can think of doing it so far is getting a proxy server like smoothwall/squid setup and then pointing the Merakis traffic to this proxy using the wpad file but means a extra server, Many thanks.

Looking for something just to keep me busy and not just moving pixels on a screen rather than full, Guess something like grapes but not sure if there is a side affect of eating too many (emergency run to the loo) Fruit and nut is good, have a issue that the bits get jammed into my teath and gums which is painful as i used to go through bags of it. About the right size though.

Group Policy only applying if 2003 DC's are still switched on
DCUK6 replied to theeggmaster's topic in Windows Server 2012
Sure you have but just trying out the obvious stuff. Your clients are using the new DNS servers address? Do you have software restrictions in? I had a issue where things would occasionally not be right, figured it was because I was only allowing things from the first DC and not the second DC. -
From the photocopiers there is a lot of waste but classroom printers don't seem to get that much. Roughly between 700-1000 pages per month on the printers. I have been looking into Ricoh's on a MPS as ive been impressed by their service before. 2p for BW and 7.8p for colour per page which is the price of 20-30% coverage if we brought our own toners. We would benefit from free callouts and repairs. There was a larger printer which was cheaper but wouldnt fit in the rooms. Waiting on prices from other companies.

With the x451 we were looking at replacing all 25 as they were on a lease but now were arnt doing that im thinking of just replacing them as we need to. Currently 5 printers. Did bring up paper cut at our meeting and limiting pupils (staff was a definite know) and they started going into having to set up schedules for print credits depending on what lessons each pupil have as they didn't want to go in when needed to add credits.. Would cost more in time that what you save from misprints and the odd student. Honestly, its a bit mad.
-
I've tried arguing it but got told by governors that they want colour printers in classrooms and they will just save the cash everywhere else. HT was there and didn't say anything. Even said we can have a photocopier in each building with follow me printing if we want. Just have to save as much as possible which is more like pennies it seems when comparing colour printers. Yeah, wouldn't touch Epson printers. We brought one in the last school as it had scan to network. Tried setting it up and there was a bug in their software. Phones them up and gold told that the Epson IT administrator wont let programs to be installed on computers so they are unable to test their own software. Not heard of Kyocera before, will check them out along with Canon. We have been getting HP M451 in the past which seems ok but they are a bit big and they don't like recycled toners. Budget is up to £200 per printer.

Hi all, We have printers in all classrooms and they are all going wrong very quickly. They are all cheapy things that the previous tech brought. I've had a trial the the new HP x series printers and for text its fine but for pictures they arnt great. I've looked into leasing Ricohs SPC250DN but they come out as 2p BW and almost 8p per colour, fine for pictures but pages of text is quite expensive. After our meeting last night i asked staff if they would be happy for BW in classrooms and colour in the photocopier but that didnt go down to well. In my last school they didnt have anything in their rooms and that worked. Has anyone got any recommendations on a good small colour desktop printer? Many thanks
