How about the 2simple product, think it is called 2mail, it sends them through a shared folder, I know primary schools did use them at one point to teach email usage without the outside world being involved.

our local "cluster" of schools have an agreement with one and other that no data is released to the local papers until the official RAISEonline report is out. I do mirror what everyone else is saying, you must not send student specific information to the papers, it is the biggest one ever.

Ridiculously low pricing on Surface RT for UK Edu this summer

Annoying much, As replying to one email puts it all in lowercase, so have to retype the address and kill the auto fill. -

Hmmm, Think it may be time to find a complaints number. Does anyone on here have any contacts with the Microsoft education team? -

OK, has anyone actually tried ordering them, I have emailed 2 different sets to them, (1 set for us to test and 16 for our Teaching Assistants to replace their 5 year old Netbooks) I received an email back from the first about the delay, and nothing else, no order processed emails or enquiries, and nothing for the 2nd order from Friday. Not feeling the confidence right now and do you think you can contact any of them by phone. -
I did a parade in France yesterday, was meant to be an Hour and half, but being a continental parade, that soon turned into 4 hours, in built up french street with no breeze and 35 degrees sun. But I have managed to get a bit of nice natural tan on myself from it :-)

To all, I am involved with a local performing arts charity (have been for 14 years) where I teach young children how to play musical instruments and perform on the UK and European Drum Corps circuits. As part of this we are doing a major fundraising event where 12 of us are going to walk from our rehearsal site through Gravesend and along the Wealdway. I would appreciate if the lovely Edugeek community could sponsor us through the just giving link below, I know we can get to our target with some help from you guys and girls. http://www.justgiving.com/blackknightsuk Thank you all, BKgarry :-)

Is this a dedicated network for them? I can remember cubase being very buggy years ago, and you had to move where it was working on Temporary files, make sure it is a local drive. Other things that can affect them is what soundcard it is using a bits like that, I can remember replacing all out the soundcards with Soundblaster Audity 2 cards although it was better, there was still latency issues and playback issues. Sorry I cannot be of more help at the moment, I would say get a Mac network in and setup the golden triangle :-) but that is just me, and I like our music stuff being on macs.

I have a Logitech Wireless M325 Mouse with my laptop, and as my main workstation is a 27" iMac (I got this for use with Apple Configurator and doing VM tests) I have the Magic Mouse, but looking at getting the Magic Pad as I have a Macbook Pro at home, and I find the gestures a lot better on it. (Goes hangs his head in shame and being a little fanboi)

Ah Yes, I need to buy some new ones and break them in a bit

Hello All, Me and my friends (all from a local Performing Arts Charity, specialising in Drum Corps/Marching Bands etc) are going to be doing a Long Distance Walk at the end of July (Doing the Wealdway Walk from Gravesend to Eastbourne). We are all experienced at doing all day long activities, and a few of us have walked the Darent Valley Path (which is only a day) but this is going to take us about 3 days. Does anyone have any Tips for us, before we set out. We are in the process of getting a Just Giving page for this event, so as a little warning, this will be coming soon.

Does the set file need to have c:\ specified before the program files variable, as that may be causing two incidents of C:\ to be showing in the script

I read on support eat somewhere that Capita are producing a new Performance Management Module which works within Personnel and it is a one off (not yearly) cost. Due out with the summer release apparently.

guidance on remote access for an external person
BKGarry replied to Marshall_IT's topic in MIS Systems
I would ask the Head to sign off on it, with a clear outline of the risks that could be involved and the DPA, and also get the other person to sign off about the information and the username and passwords and make sure they are shut down totally after a certain period. Ultimately the Head and Governors are responsible for anything under the data protection act -
Parent Evening Online Booking Systems - Recommendations please
BKGarry replied to timbo343's topic in MIS Systems
We are now using ParentsEveningSystem here, and I cannot complain, There is a couple of things to warn you about in advance, All the Parents/Guardians of your students need to have parental responsiblity ticked in the contacts within SIMs and they must have a forename there, if not they can not sign up. Set the data field as Date of Birth and Make sure you customise your signup screen to say that, as students and parents get confused between registration groups and class groups etc. Last thing, your staff will love it, it takes a lot of the paperwork out of the equation, and most parents will like it too (there is always those who will have issues and they will complain about it but they will be the same ones complaining about using paper) -
I would say you need to put in a change request, but it is not likely to be done unless a lot of schools want it
-
SEN is simple, what you can do is go to Tools > Setups > Attendance Setup > Module Setup and the top box gives you a list of extra columns you can tick to show up at the beginning of your registers

Best source of KS2 data?
BKGarry replied to NormalDistribution's topic in Data Managers's Data Managers Topics
We are quite lucky, we have a devision within our LEA which we can contact for this breakdown for a student, and they usually find it within 2 weeks (unless its census time, then it takes a bit longer) -
I don't think this is possible in Lesson Monitor, but it is in theory possible in Assessment Manager, but I would need to do some tweaking to find out, you would make a marksheet that shows their current attendance, then an aspect with their attendance target and then another aspect that says whether they are on target or not. We all get funky questions about attendance, every 2 weeks without a fail I get one that say why does it take a percentage of what attendance they are on to date and not the attendance if they are present for the rest of the year. I did make an excel sheet to do it once by exporting data from Assessment Manager, but it was broken within 2 weeks and I fixed it, they broke it again, after the 15th time I had to refuse to fix it, as it was taking up too much time.
