I'm looking at potentially implementing Dialpad at my MAT. Are there any schools represented here on EduGeek that are using it? I'd love to know your thoughts.

I would love to move to Sign In App, but the one thing it lacks is the 2 way MIS write back. Unfortunately that's what keeps our schools on InVentry. I just find InVentry very clunky and that it looks like it's still designed for Windows XP.

Or you could pay £399 for the AirTag Hermès edition! 🙈

In my experience, it's completely random. Sometimes it's taken a few days, sometimes mere a few hours!

I use Sophia Script. It has a nice GUI that allows you to apply several tweaks to Windows 10, alongside removing any Windows 10 apps, just by unchecking what you don't want.

Never really worked out whether it was the CPU or Motherboard that was faulty. CCL Online told me that they tested the board and it POSTed fine, even though I tested with 2 different CPUs and couldn't get it to. But, they agreed to refund me anyway... And I got a refund for the open box CPU from eBay. I'm guessing the CPU was probably the obvious issue, but who knows. Either way, I bought another 5800X from Amazon and also went for a slightly better board, the MSI Meg X570 Unify and now have a decent working system! EDIT: Signature updated! 🥳

Apple Pay tends to be unlimited everywhere. However, I noticed that Tesco don't allow Apple Pay over £45 and instead want you to sign up for their Tesco Bank fob. Despite it being a little high, if your card is stolen, the banks are normally reasonable in refunding items that are fraudulent.

Yeah, if you plan to buy licenses, best thing to do is to place an order by this Friday, to avoid the increase. If you have plans to buy devices in future, I'd still buy the licenses ready for when you purchase the devices.

They actually announced this at Bett 2020. Google were due to raise the price of the Chrome Management License (rebranded to Chrome Education Upgrade) in March 2020, but delayed it to January 2021 and then again to March 2021 because of COVID. So, in fairness to them, they did give plenty of notice. Don't get me wrong, I'm not happy about any price increases (or introduction of paid tiers) but it is what it is I guess.

Just RMA'd the motherboard. After all the testing and process of ellmination, that's the only thing I can think of!

So, I tested the following: Tried another power cable (kettle lead) Reset CMOS (both shorting and battery reseat,holding down the power for 20 seconds before powering back on) Tried another working GPU (GTX 720) Tried 2 working PSUs Tried bothsticks of RAM individually Tried booting without the m.2 NVMe Reseated the CPU Flash BIOS via USB (latest version - v15) Flash BIOS via USB (previous version - v14) Still no luck. I'm totally stumped. I'm gonna try to get my hands on another CPU. Failing that, it could only be the motherboard, right?

How exactly do you clear with a jumper, without the actual jumper? Is it just a case of touching the 2 pins together with a screw driver?

I removed the battery for 30 seconds. Would this not be enough?

Initially I powered it down from the front power button. But during the diagnostics, I used the power button on the PSU, ensuring I discharged the power, as much as possible. I tried powering on the system without the NVMe and it still wouldn't POST.

Gonna have to give it a try. No idea what else to do! I've tried with a single stick of RAM too. Still no luck. It's just annoying that I'll have to take the whole thing apart! 🤦♂️

So I just built a new system yesterday. CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X Motherboard: MSI MAG X570 Tomahawk RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32GB (2 x 16GB) HDD: 1TB NVMe Cooler: Corsair iCue H150i Elite Capellix PSU: Corsair RM750 Case: Lian Li O11-Dynamic GPU: Reused GTX 970 I put it altogether, POST was fine, installed Windows 10, installed updates, updated BIOS, used the PC for several hours, productivity, video calls, no problem. About 6 hours later, just whilst sat watching YouTube, Windows shut down but the PC was still powered and fans were running. I powered down the system and turned it on again and now the machine refuses to POST at all. I reseated the RAM, GPU, replaced the CMOS battery, checked all the cables, but no luck at all. I don't have any warning beeps or any warning lights on the onboard EZ Debug LED. So, any idea what could be causing this? The PC was totally working fine and then after several hours, it just shut down and stopped. I was checking my temps as it was a brand new build and the CPU was stable at around 29 to 32 degrees. Any ideas?

I did notice someone complain about worrying concerns around CS First, especially as it was becoming a Google Workspace for Education additional service, as opposed to a core service, although I don't know the finer details about the concerns. There are valid considerations that will need to be made because it is not a core service and therefore not covered by the standard Google Workspace for Education T&Cs.

Thanks for the shout out @Ditto! There are lots of free resources available that you could make use of as a starting point. The Google Teacher Center (yes, US spelling!) is a great starting place for educators to learn about G Suite and work towards the Level 1 and Level 2 certifications. It's a great self guided course that they can dive in and out of at their leisure. I would highly recommend everyone (even IT professionals) to undertake these certifications. Doing so allowed me to become a Google Certified Trainer and Innovator and has honestly opened so many avenues that I never imagined possible. I'm also one of the founders of the Global Google Educator Group, Global GEG. GEGs are free and volunteer educator led communities that help to deliver training and support for educators worldwide. Global GEG has a global reach, but there is also GEG UK which obviously has a more UK focus. I'd definitely advise your staff to get involved in these communities and make use of the resources on all of those websites to get some really useful and free training.

Yeah, what @j224 said. You don't need the Mote extension to be able to listen to voice note, although having the extension means you can listen to the voice note without leaving the page. Otherwise, you have to click on the link and be redirected to the mote page. It's a freemium model, but the free version will work for most people, although some of the premium features are very good indeed! I am a mote Ambassador, so if anyone wants a free trial, you can use this link to get a 90 day trial as opposed to 30 day (Not a paid click referral link or anything. Just something I can offer as an Ambassador).

So, as I'd been putting it off for like 5 or 6 years. I decided to format my Windows 10 PC at home with the latest 20H2 copy of Windows. Full clean format. First thing I did was connect the webcam up to my PC and microphone didn't work at all. I've just walked into school and connected the camera up to my office PC and it's working absolutely fine! 🤦♂️ I have no idea what's causing this! My format at home was a full vanilla format with a copy of Windows 10 directly download from Microsoft!

One of the biggest challenges is gonna be PhET, which apparently is a charity and community based collection of resources and thus don't necessarily have the capacity to update everything, albeit they have moved a lot to HTML5.
