It'd be interesting to know just how many people still have home telephones. I haven't used a home telephone since 2008. I only used to have one because Virgin Media gave me cheaper broadband to have one bundled in, even though cable broadband doesn't require a telephone line. As soon as they started making it cheaper to go without, I dropped it. Haven't missed it, ever. Especially don't miss the "You've been in an accident" calls. I have a cheap PAYG SIM at home running on an iPhone 5S that I keep in case the kids need to call us in an emergency. I top it up about once a year just to stop 3 from disconnecting it. Even then, my kids can call me for free via WhatsApp or FaceTime and that's using the home WiFi connection. I feel that as soon as more corporate workplaces start to embrace trust cloud VoIP and soft phone technologies (RingCentral, Dialpad, 8x8, 3CX etc) desk handsets and telephone infrastructure will start to become a thing of the past.

After my long standing PC that I purchased back in 2014 died over the summer (btw, thanks @VeryPC_Colin_M for a true workhorse of a machine that did way past it's time!) I have temporarily decided to switch over to macOS using my 2019 16" MacBook Pro, until I decide where to go next... I'm using the MacBook docked to my dual monitor setup with the Logitech MX Keys and MX Master 3 connected via Bluetooth. When I plug the USB-C connectors in, the MacBook boots up automatically. However, I have one very annoying issue in that when I boot up the MacBook connected to my monitors with the lid closed, the bluetooth devices will not respond at all. I have to open the lid and type the password on the built in keyboard. Once macOS (Big Sur) boots up, the keyboard and mouse connect seamlessly without any issues. I know I can lift the lid, but just wondered if there was a way to get it to work seamlessly? The Apple Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse (both I have are version 1) work seamlessly. It's just the Logitech devices that won't connect.

Yes, I will, but not until the refurb iPhone 13 Pro Max is available on the refurb market via Music Magpie or Cheapest Electricals. So, it won't be a few months yet. However, my brother picked up the iPhone 12 Pro Max for £750 just a few months ago, which is a super bargain!

Richer Sounds told me that the 6 year warranty is for consumers only and we wouldn't be covered as a business. I had to go through the business team and pay for a 3 year warranty as we can only pay on invoice. Have I been had? 😒

I've just set up a Windows 10 VM on my home PC, which can run Windows 11 and joined the Dev channel. But I'm not getting the Windows 11 preview show up in Windows Update. Any ideas?

A little bit off the main topic, but I have a 100GB SIM only deal that I managed to bag from EE for £16/month. For this reason, I've stopped using WiFi on my phone, so that when it comes to renewing my deal, EE can't turn around and only offer me a deal with less data, using the excuse that I don't use my data! I've had that loads in the past. I'm now averaging around 50GB of usage a month, compared to 1-2GB/month when I was using WiFi.

Same here. We've purchased a lot of consumer TVs for classrooms to use as the main display. I've had lots of suppliers always try to tell me that they aren't suitable for enterprise use and aren't made to be switched on for all hours of the day, but in truth, I've never had any problems. In fact, I've had less problems with the LG, Hisense and Samsung TVs I've purchased, compared to the Promethean and Clevertouch screens that we have. Let's face it, we just through a year of lockdowns and I'm pretty sure millions of consumer TVs were on every day for much longer than your average ("6 hour") school day!

Thanks mate! Retail on Apple, it's around £429. UKCamelCamelCamel shows that it's been on Amazon for around £349. I've seen refurbs over the last few weeks on HUKD at £250ish. Almost picked one up, but just missed out. There's one today on Music Magpie for £289. So I'm guessing around the £50 mark saving for a brand new device.

In all seriousness, no I'm not fully recovered yet. I'm still suffering from chest pains, a very bad cough, headaches and insane tiredness! Been written off work till 5th July to rest and recuperate! So, the Apple Watch goes a very tiny way to make me feel better! 🙈

I managed to get a few things: Apple Watch Series 6 for £299 (Down from £209) - This was a very guilty "I'm recovering from covid and need to splash out to feel better, but really don't need this" purchase! 😂 Govee LED light strip for £16.09 (Down from £22.99) - Govee have since refunded me for this because I simply couldn't get it to connect to WiFi. They offered to send out a replacement. I said just refund me and I'll keep the faulty one! They agreed! Anker Soundcore 2 Portable Bluetooth Speaker for £27.99 (Down from £39.99) - I got this to replace the Anker Soundcore 1, which they refunded me for because the version 1 was giving a 1 to 2 second delay every time sound would play, making it very annoying indeed. I am very happy with the version 2 however! It's a great sleek looking speaker for my setup! All in all, I was quite happy with Prime Day this year!

I've known about this for quite some time, but I've still chosen to avoid File Stream altogether to avoid any risks with potential ransomware infections. I think it helps users to understand the transition to Google Drive, to learn how to use it via the web browser, as opposed to rely on the old File Explorer method for on premise file management. It's worked quite well at my schools and we've now been fully using Google Drive for storage since 2017.

It definitely didn't feel like Windows 11, more like Windows 10.5! One thing I can't understand is why they haven't replaced all of the old Windows XP menus. You've still got 2 ways to do most things - Control Panel and Settings App. And then you've only got 1 way to do other things, through Control Panel. As for the new UI, they haven't even bothered to update the Run command to look like the new UI! Honestly, how hard can that be and is no one at Microsoft seeing this?! 🤦♂️ It's getting to the point that it's just becoming Windows XP/7 with more and more things piled on top. I think that one of the positives is the inclusion of the Android apps. Hopefully this will be something that is easy to manage from a corporate/school perspective. I want to be positive about Windows, it's still my main operating system of choice at both work and home, but I wish they would put some true development into overhauling the user experience, as opposed to what looks like constant patch work.

I'm currently sufferring from the Delta varient. My whole family has tested positive. It's very rough indeed and I definitely feel as though I have both covid and hay fever. Got all of the covid symptoms, but I have all of my usual hay fever symptoms too. The headaches, immense tiredness and totally crazy sinus issues are probably the worst. Suffice to say, covid has smashed me for sure!
