Got a really weird one. I have a brand new Logitech C925e webcam that I've been using for 2 weeks now with no issues. Suddenly today, the microphone on the camera stopped working when I was told on a Google Meet that no one could hear me. I went and checked all the usual settings and everything seemed okay. Here's the checklist: Settings > Privacy > Microphone: Everything has access to the mic Settings > System > Sound > Input: Set to Logitech C925e Control Panel > Sound > Recording: Microphone is set to Logitech Webcam C925e (Default Device) and Windows reports it is working properly. (Even though it does not show the volume input registering as I talk). I've tried unplugging the cam, rebooting the PC and then plugging it back in again. No luck I've tried uninstalling it from Device Manager, rebooting and plugging it in again. Still no luck. I've tried updating the drivers, but there are no drivers for it on the Logitech website and it uses the generic Windows drivers. Windows Update doesn't find an updated driver. I would have put it down to hardware failure, however, when I connect the camera to my MacBook and set the audio recording input to the Logitech camera, it works absolutely fine. As far as I am aware, there have been no changes to my Windows PC at all. So, any idea what could be the issue? I've plugged in another brand webcam that I own (Nulaxy C900) and it works absolutely fine. Any ideas?

So, the last time I built a new PC was in January 2011 (See my "Spec me" thread from 10 years ago here!) And here is the final setup I went with. Had a couple of hard disks die, the GPU died and so did the PSU. I've now got a GTX 970, a modular Corsair PSU and an SSD, as well as doubling the RAM when my brother replaced his identical setup. As I'm approaching 10 years, I think it's definitely time for an upgrade, especially as the system has become a bit more unstable in 10 years and is BSODing quite often! I generally use the PC for work, running 2 x LG-27UK670 27" monitors. I'm also a casual gamer, my main games of choice are, FIFA, a range of 3rd person games (Hitman, GTA, Metal Gear Solid) and a few racers, Forza, Need for Speed etc Here's a breakdown of my current setup from Speccy: I've been a bit out of the game for a while and not kept up with the latest PC component trends. So, not sure what kinda budget to set. I'd love to go for a PC that will give me as good use as I have out of my current setup. To save money, I may reuse my GPU, SSD and PSU. Would it be possible to reuse the Corsair H70 with the newer CPUs?

The question then needs to be posed from a perspective that they've moved to Office 365, which is great, but then they purchased Chromebooks. Whilst the decision was probably financially motivated, the two ecosystems don't line up effectively, albeit you can run Office 365 apps just fine on a Chromebook. You could spin this in a way that highlights to the school that you've already invested in the devices, the migration of the platform is an inevitable change given the investment (even though they probably didn't realise this!) Failing that, it would be an idea to put them in touch with the EdTech Demonstrator programme, so that they can connect with other educators using Office 365 who can support them with the digital transformation away from an ActivInspire environment. - - - Updated - - - We've been asking for years! Please do leave feedback! The more people that ask, the better the chance Google will look at incorporating this into Slides!

This. Just how stagnation and complacency comes to bite in other sectors, the same applies here. Even though people might see if as just teaching resources, it's the platforms that those teaching resources run on. I know it's not the answer you might be looking for @richmackie, but, I've been through the very same boat, where refusal to adjust only results in delaying of the inevitable. My advise is to stick to your guns and put a solid business plan together as to why this move is necessary, highlighting the benefits from a teaching and remote learning perspective, but also from a cost perspective. (Moving from Windows to ChromeOS, usually means lower cost devices and less reliance on an on-premise AD server, which is sure to bring down costs drastically).

The Neverware team have worked very closely with the Google for Education team for a very long time and they've been showcased at almost every Google event I've been to (and I've been to loads!) 🙈😂 Rumours of a Google takeover/buy out have been going on for years and if anything, makes total sense. If anything, this move brings potential for even greater support, which the Neverware team already did very well. There are many, many schools where Chromebook purchases are next to impossible due to ever tightening budgets. Neverware is a very affordable stepping stone, whilst giving older devices a new lease of life.

Yes, I have fought this battle. It's not the answer they are gonna like, but the blunt truth, in that there is a need for change. Obviously you need to articulate this in nicer terms. But you can mention that ActivInspire is a package for yesteryear and that there is an urgent need for digital transformation in schools. Whilst it won't be comfortable, it is needed. You can showcase some of the schools delivering remote learning via the EdTech Demonstrator programme. Most have moved to platforms such as G Suite or Office 365 and thus have moved their delivery of learning to Jamboard/Google Slides, or Teams/Sway etc. Even Promethean have toned down development of ActivInspire having initially said that they were gonna discontinue it altogether in 2016 before retracting due to backlash. You need to sell it to the school that in order to move to a more flexible working platform that can help to drive down cost, they need to move away from old platforms that are holding back the digital transformation.

Can someone please recommend a low priced webcam. I need one for home and I've looked on Amazon, but it's really confusing as to what the correct features are. Hard to keep up with all the little quirks since the changes! As far as I'm aware, anyone invited to a Google Meet, will automatically be able to enter the Meet up to 15 minutes before the start time.

Our HP DL380p Gen 8 just started flashing the heart rate monitor - Not sure what this means! I callled our reseller and they told me that they need more information from server diagnostics. I tried to install HP server diagnostics tools on my HP DL380p Gen 8. I downloaded the HP Insight Diagnostics tool, but when trying to install it, I got a message saying the health driver wasn't found. I've tried to search for the health driver, but had no luck. Any ideas where I can find this? And what will be causing the heart rate monitor flashing light?

Last time I was at the LGfL office (wow, going places! Remember those times?!) for an Adobe session, I remember them saying that they able to offer device licenses at £25/device (can't remember if it was per month or year, sorry!) It might be work emailing [email protected] to ask whether this is possible. Yes, it's not the free licenses like the user ones, but it's at least something more accessible.

Do you have a source for this? As far as I'm aware, the unlimited storage has not changed for schools. This is reflected on their support site. There has always been a limit that you cannot have a single file bigger than 5TB, (I was told this at Google's HQ in London) however, the total storage space is unlimited. UPDATE: Also, May Jue (Lead for the Google Certified Trainer program) confirmed on Twitter that G Suite for Education is not being rebranded to Google Workspace just yet. It will happen, but not just yet.
