Whilst I can see why you might want to do this, to prevent users locking systems and not returning, you might want to consider that it probably isn't a good idea from a GDPR/Data Protection perspective.

Try logging a call with Atomwide and asking them to unblock all known ports to Apple for your iOS mail app to work on your wireless range (or your whole network). They should have the details from previous cases and you may not need to supply any details in the MIP request, if at all. I had a similar issue in the past where the mail app wouldn't connect internally, I logged a call asking them to do just that and they fixed it themselves. Atomwide seem to have some new staff on the help desk, so you may need to be a bit "assertive" but you should be able to get it resolved.

Just to let everyone know the fantastic news that our very own Dave Leonard (@%1;) won the Network Manager of the Year Award. I had the honour and privilege of spending the last 3 days with Dave at the Google Certified Innovator Academy (which is a life changing experience, but more on that later!) and I couldn't recommend anyone more deserving of the award. A thoroughly great gentleman all round!

I do this regularly when my parents go abroad. If they are landing at 10:30pm, I will usually give them 45 mins to an hour to go through immigration and baggage collection before they are out of the airport and so I will usually arrive at the airport for 11:15pm or 11:30pm and pick them up from the drop off/pick up point directly outside the terminal which doesn't cost a penny. I've done this myself too when I've been on holiday with the family, I've parked my car in the long stay car parks, for which you need to take a shuttle bus. I've left the family with the baggage in the terminal and then taken the bus to pick up the car and then pick them up outside the terminal.

Has anyone had any experience with HOC Digital and their Free MFD for schools scheme? It seems a little too good to be true at first, but after initial investigation, it does seem like the real deal. They are offering free MFDs to schools and only ask you to pay a one-off charge of £250+VAT and then the cost of your printing at 0.005p/Page (Mono) and 3.5p/Page (Colour). The units they supply are the following: Ricoh MPC6003 A3 full colour systems with staple or booklet maker Ricoh MPC401 A4 only desktop system Both printers seem to be EOL on the Ricoh site, hence why they might be giving them away as a free loan. You need to sign up for a 36 month period, but they claim that you don't pay for any printing you don't do. There isn't any print management included but can source PaperCut implementation via a reseller at an additional cost. So, does anyone have any experiences?

Okay, this is a very whistle stop recollection, but feel free to get in touch if you want to know things in more detail: First things first, we still have a DC on site. We have an ICT Suite with PCs and PCs in every office and classroom, which need to be managed and centrally controlled. What I did was format the CC4 server and install a fresh copy of Windows Server 2016. I then created 2 more Server 2016 VMs using Hyper-V, 1 to be DC and 1 to be the SIMS server (which we have since decommissioned). Created all GPOs and AD structure from scratch, provisioned all users in to AD. I created quota limits and file restriction policies for all users: - 1GB hard limit - Block audio and video files, executable files, compressed files, temporary files and anything else that would unnecessarily fill up the space. No user has any profiles. Every user has a newly created profile on a PC when they log in. Most users only use their office PCs or the PCs in the staff room or PPA room. The initial login when they first log on to a device takes a couple of minutes, but it's near instantaneous thereafter. Start Menu is set by GPO XML file, Home Folders and everything else is set up by GPO/Folder Redirection. I am looking in to a replacement printing solution, it doesn't appear that a true SaaS solution exists as yet, so for the time being, I'll probably create a new VM to act as a print server/door access control database server etc. Unfortunately, the technology isn't moving fast enough for us to go "full" serverless. With regards to backup, I do very little in terms of backups these days. I do occasionally take a manual copy of my VMs and throw them on to Google Drive, but in the event of a disaster, it wouldn't be too difficult to rebuild the domain from scratch! I don't backup Google Drive in any way other than built in Vault, but I am looking at CubeBackup as a potential option as it's surprisingly cheaper than I expected. As for staff training. I led a LOT of sessions with various staff groups across the Trust. Be sure to NOT forget the admin teams as you'll find they are amongst the heaviest users and usually the ones that need the most support. But basically, I introduced them to G Suite, gave them a list of reasons as to why we were changing the way we do things, talked about some of the benefits of G Suite and then demonstrated how to migrate files from Windows to Google Drive. I took the decision NOT to install Drive File Stream. Firstly, when we migrated, it wasn't yet available. Secondly, I'm still not convinced that if a PC was to get infected with ransomware, would it not encrypt every Google Drive file?(!) Thirdly, I wanted to prepare our users for a native ChromeOS working environment, as opposed to reliance on the past way of doing things (using Windows Shares and using Microsoft Word instead of Google Docs).

We moved all of our data at both my schools in May 2017 and August 2017. I had initially began discussions and training with the staff on G Suite and moving all of our data. The plan was to migrate all data to G Suite for both schools in Summer 2017. However, the main DC at one of my sites was destroyed in a flood, so I migrated all of that data for that school in to G Suite. I created Team Drives and put all the the old shared documents in to a main school Team Drive. I restored home folders to a temporary location and ask all staff to migrate their own data, whilst giving them a cut off date, informing them that and on-premise data will be deleted after this date. (I didn't actually delete anything, I just copied it all on to an external hard drive). With the other school, I went on as planned. Gave staff a cut off date to clean all the files they didn't need in home folders and shared areas and then asked them to migrate everything over themselves. I then formatted the old CC4 server and rebuilt a vanilla server from scratch with no shared areas and a very heavily limited 1GB working area home folder, keeping staff informed that home areas were no longer backed up and that they would have to use G Suite. I purposely disabled the use of Drive File Stream to ensure that staff had the opportunity to learn how to use G Suite natively through the Chrome browser ensuring that they got the most authentic experience ready for when we move to a full Chromebook/G Suite environment sometime in the future. The purpose of the 1GB working area home folder was to ensure that staff could download and open files that didn't open natively in G Suite (e.g. ActivInspire files etc) which we have now moved away from completely. We also moved away from SIMS to Bromcom in 2018, ensuring that we were completely "serverless" with our data. The future plans are to wean users off Microsoft Office applications and fully in to using G Suite. Primarily to save on expensive OVS licensing costs.

I would definitely get in touch with LGfL as they are very open to accommodating schools. I hardly use USO at all except for WebScreen filtering, J2E and curriculum resources. A lot of the value added doesn't require USO at all: Adobe Creative Cloud licenses Egress licenses Meraki MDM licenses Neverware licenses Sophos Intercept-X Sophos Server Advanced Malwarebytes licenses Sophos Phish These are just some of the value added services that don't require any sort of USO integration.

@TMBS, I would highly recommend LGfL/TRUSTnet all day long. Superb, highly reliable service, value for money and the value added you get with some of the extra bundled features make it a brilliant option for schools. They have also completely rebuilt their WebScreen filtering platform based on Netsweeper. Both @ITBadger (whom I didn't know until the announcement last week!) and I were selected to take part in the Google Certified Innovator academy this July in London. Check this thread I posted on last year, about trying to unblock WhatsApp. On the second page, there are several links to WhatsApp and Facebook's IP ranges. If you reverse what I was trying to do, you should be able to block what you need.

I loved the film, definitely, but there are a lot of plot holes with regards to time travel. Although the Russo Brothers did say that they thought it all through over the last 3 years. Also, a lot of the film was about setting up the Disney+ streaming service shows. E.g. Falcon & Winter Soldier, Marvel's What If (Cap going back and living out life with Peggy), Loki escaping using the Tessaract etc. As for time travel, they explained in the film that any actions they take by going back in time doesn't affect their future, it creates an alternate reality. So, unlike Back to the Future (loved them shutting down those theory references!) Peggy's children won't have been affected, it would have created a new timeline reality. That still raises the question though, that how did old man Cap come back to the original timeline. Well, he could have done it using more Pym particles, but also, in the recent Spider-Man trailer, they showed how multiverse traversing was possible. So, it seems as though that could be something that Cap did. As for returning the stones, yes, there is a HUGE question here... What did Cap do when he returned to Vormir and saw Red Skull. I really hope we get to see that interaction some day! Also, did he just walk up to Jane and inject her with the aether again? And I though a human can't hold the stones (as we saw in Guardians of the Galaxy)... So, tongs? But in truth, I didn't care for the plot holes. I just super enjoyed the movie and cheered with glee when Cap wielded Mjolnir! On that subject...

I wasn't too impressed with their demo when they came to show me their printers. They supply what looks like inkjet MFPs as opposed to laser jet MFPs and I found that the final prints looks a lot more washed out than laser jet printers. I haven't got any further experience with them other than that though.

Absolutely! Awesome film! A real gift to the fans nicely concluding the 22 movie story arc.
