Damn, I wish the majority of my teachers were that nice!

Here's the link to the UK site: Apple (United Kingdom) - OS X Mountain Lion We'll be charged £13.99 - So an extra £1.27 based on today's exchange rate. I guess it's not too bad considering that Apple charge us UK folk well over the odds for the iPad and iPhone compared to prices in the US.

I've pretty much got this working the way I want to with just a few snags that I'd like to iron out: 1. Can I disable Extensions altogether? I've not been able to see a way of disabling this at all and under my test student account, it pretty much lets me install anything. 2. A lot of the advanced settings are still unlocked. E.g: Manage Search Engines Users Privacy (Content Settings) Web Content (Font Size etc) Languages Does anyone know how to lock down these settings? 3. If I wanted to deploy my own choice extensions (for argument sake, lets say, Stylish, or Angry Birds etc) how can this be done and how can I download the extension files to deploy out to the PCs?

Found the answer. It's the /s switch. Works fine.

Does anyone know how I can install JDK 7 update 5 silently? I tried the /qb! switch which works fine, however, it then pops up with another window for JavaFX that doesn't run silently and after that, it pops up with a web page asking to register with Oracle. Any idea how I can run both items silently and suppress the web popup?

I'm trying to install Office 365 using the Click to Run installer and it's just sitting there at "0% - Configuring..." and then it just fails saying couldn't install - without giving any error messages! Any ideas what I can do to get it to install? Running Windows 7 x64 with Office 2010 x86.

And ironically, after all the logistical mayhem we started having because staff were crossing over so much between the 2 domains and because SIMS was being more thoroughly introduced in to the curriculum, we ended up merging the 2 anyway! Best thing we've done so far though, it's made life a lot easier. Having said that though, it was great working and testing the multiple domain stuff with the Smoothwall folk!

Whenever I type "Home" or "http://home" either on Firefox, Chrome or Safari on my MacBook (10.7.4) I get a page that says: I've searched Google and found this page on TeamViewer's support page telling you how to remove it. The trouble is, the Mac version of TeamViewer doesn't have this option. Even more strangely I have completely uninstalled TeamViewer and I still get that message. Any ideas how I can get rid of it?

I believe if you create a Cydia Store account, then any apps you may purchase are tied to this account and are therefore re-downloadable for free if you re-jailbreak.

I'd like to buy a decent, but not too expensive fruit juicer. Preferably one that is nice and easy to use and definitely doesn't require peeling or messing around with the fruit and just let's you chuck it in and juice away. So, does anyone have any recommendations?

I seem to be a little late joining the party, however, I just installed Windows 8 Release Preview on to a VM yesterday. I have to say, my fears for Metro on the desktop were just amplified to a whole new level. I just can't see how it can work in corporate environments. For reasons I won't go in to too much detail about, my school are still on XP/2003 and Office 2003. The plans to upgrade was put off as long as possible because most of the people were far too scared of the thought of Windows 7 and Office 2010 - Change, especially the ribbon. The school's argument for not upgrading was backed by the BSF being shelved etc etc. But now they are gonna have to upgrade and most of the staff here who are not so technically minded are bringing up the same fears of change again. In using Metro properly for the first time yesterday, I actually had to do a Google search for how to quit an app using the mouse (without the need for Alt+F4 or simply hitting the Windows key). My favourite phrase here, to staff, is "Google is your friend" because more than 80% of the questions I get asked are simply answered by a quick Google search. Something that regular staff just don't do. If they can't see a Close (X) button at the top of the screen, they're gonna be completely lost. I've walked around school noticing that some users have their taskbars cluttered with 20+ windows, which they constantly flick between, SIMS, Word, Excel, IE, etc. Metro seems to take the productivity of multi tasking away from them. Sure, dragging a screen away using your fingers on a tablet may seem natural, but it doesn't feel right with a mouse. Another thing that is going to confuse end users is Metro and non Metro apps. You go to the Start screen and you get a nice big button for IE10 Metro, which is gonna completely baffle them when they can't find the address bar! (Right Click btw - Again, another Google Search!) but then, when you go to the desktop and then click the shortcut on the taskbar for IE, you get non-Metro IE10. I don't know if Microsoft are thinking this is the answer to the corporate complaints, by giving users a half hearted attempt at a non Metro interface, but I can just see it causing mass confusion. I presume it'll be the same for Office 15 when it does arrive. IMO, Microsoft are trying too hard to move to the Apple way of doing things. Apple are growing at an alarming rate in the consumer market, but they don't have anywhere near as big a base in the corporate market as Microsoft have. Sure, use Windows 8 to get up to speed with the consumer market, because, Metro does work, very well for tablets and touch devices. But I feel by forcing it on the desktop user, because I really can't see large corporate entities adopting touch devices en mass any time soon, they are alienating what has been their bread and butter for many years, the corporate/business/education market. Just my opinions on the matter - Sorry for the mini rant

I voted the iPhone 4 option, but if you can hold out until approximately October, the iPhone 5 will probably be released around that time, based on Apple's 12 monthly release schedule.

My brother and my friend both have the SuperDud, or the PooperHub as they call it respectively and both have complained about absolutely terrible wireless performance. In fact, when they've complaining to Virgin, the advice tech support have given has been along the lines of... "oh, run the SuperHub in modem only mode and use another router for wireless..." Err... why can't you just supply a router that works?! And are you gonna pay for the extra router I need to buy?!

Can anyone help me with a batch script to copy some files from folder to folder en masse? We have a 2 root folders. The first is called "ControlledTests" and in that folder we have 150 home folders called "control01" - "control150". The 2nd root folder is called "HistoryTests" and in that folder we have 150 home folders called "History001" - "History150". What I want to achieve is to copy the contents of each "ControlledTests" home folder in to the respective "HistoryTests" home folder. So: Contents of "control01" copied in to "History001" Contents of "control02" copied in to "History002" Contents of "control03" copied in to "History003" Contents of "control04" copied in to "History004" etc... Any help is very much appreciated!

I'm looking to begin a project of replacing our school website with the EduGeek Joomla package. Is there any updated documentation as to how to get this working on a current new Joomla 2.5 installation? Will it even work with Joomla 2.5?

I've just started a rebuild on our Mac Mini Server as I made a few too many messy changes on it trying to get 'domain.local' working properly. So, hopefully 10.7.3 addresses the 'domain.local' issues. Trouble is, downloading from Lion Recovery is excruciatingly slow! It's reporting 13 hours and 51 minutes remaining for download! :| (Is there anyway to speed this up?)

Actually, the dialling code for London is 020 - The 7 and 8 make up part of the actual number. (E.g. 020 XXXX XXXX) It used to be 7 for Inner London and 8 for Outer London, however that has since been dropped as I have an Outer London 020 8XXX XXXX number and the regional office within the same borough in London only 5 mins away from me has 020 3XXX XXXX - So clearly it's not reserved to the 7 and 8 any more as they have introduced the 3.

I'll give it a try disabling the onboard sound card. We're running Windows Server 2003 with XP clients.

Our staff are having issues with sound not playing through the USB audio. I've installed ActivDriver 5.7.22.1 on to all our PCs, logged in as Admin and set the default device to the Promethean Audio. As soon as someone else logs in, it reverts back to the internal sound device. Any ideas on how I can force the default as the USB audio?
