Resolved: It seems my model of MacBook Pro doesn't support installing from USB Flash Drive. I burnt the ISO on to a DVD and Windows installed fine.

Yeah, it's only in the mornings. I'm using the latest drivers from the nvidia website for my graphics card. (GeForce 560 Ti).

OK, well, the BIOS update only seemed to be a temporary fix, because the same issue has returned. Any other ideas anyone?

I've got a Mid 2010 MacBook Pro (MacBookPro6,2) and I've updated it to 10.8.3. Apple now support installing of Windows 8 via Boot Camp, but I just can't get it to work even though it is supported on my MacBook. I've created the partition using the Boot Camp Assistant, however, when I boot in to Windows 8, it complains that it can't install on to the partition because it needs the partition to be GPT and it is currently MBR. This is the error message: However, when booting back in to OS X and checking in Disk Utility, the drive is definitely set as GUID Partition Table. How can I get Windows 8 to see that this is correct? I've tried deleting the partition on Windows 8 setup and recreating it, but it complains it cannot create a partition (Error: 0xf28dbbd0 - Which gives no results in Google!)

Well, it's been 2 days since I updated the BIOS and have to say, no black screen and Windows boot up has been unbelievably fast! Didn't get a chance to time it, but it was definitely fast than before! I'll keep an eye on it, but I had no idea a BIOS update could have such a positive impact!

Just updated the BIOS 3602. Will see how that goes!

My BIOS version is 2001. I've just looked at the downloads page and noticed the latest version is 3602.

Almost 90% of the time that I switch on my Windows 8 PC (Specs in Sig) in the mornings from a cold boot, I get a Black Screen as soon as Windows loads. Sometimes I get a a mouse cursor that stops responding after a few seconds and sometimes I just get a Black Screen with no mouse cursor. I have to power off the PC and switch it on again for it to boot up properly. I have fully updated Windows and I'm still seeing the issue nearly every morning (or whenever I start the PC from a cold boot). As far as I'm aware I've not got any hardware issues. Anyone else experienced something similar?

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flash with no luck. Not tried HTML5, but I'm assuming it'll be fine, although this doesn't fix the issues on non HTML5 sites. I've tried the latest Nightly (v23.x) - Exactly the same problem. I'll try new profile, safe mode and harware acceleration in the morning.

Ever since I updated to Firefox 20 on my Mac (10.8.3) and the latest version of Flash Player, I've found any sites using flash videos to be extremely choppy if I switch tabs or pause and then play the video again. Not got the problem in Chrome or Safari so it leads me to believe its Firefox that is causing the issue and not Flash. Anyone else noticed the issue? Is there a settings fix in about:config?

I very much doubt that Virgin Media are charging those prices for new customers. The best thing to do is definitely call them up, tell them you've had enough and say you are leaving. They will put you through to Customer Retentions and offer you some lowered prices. The thing to do is NOT TO ACCEPT ANYTHING THEY OFFER! Be adamant that you want to cancel because you are sick and tired of being disrespected as a loyal customer in favour of new customers who get much better deals and that you will be signing up to Sky instead. They will eventually give in and tell you they will cancel your subscription in 30 days. It is during this time that you will receive a phone call from the "special" customer retentions team that offer the really good details. My brother managed to get 120Mbps Broadband and Unlimited Home Phone for £20/Month, but if you haggle harder, you'll get even better deals. Keep threatening them that you are about to go to Sky. The important thing to remember is don't worry about them cutting you off. You have 30 days notice and even if they don't call you, call them back on the 22nd day and say you've changed your mind and that you want to cancel your disconnection. After a week or so, call them back and say you want to cancel again and repeat until they give you a decent offer, but in all honesty, they will probably call to offer you a deal within the first few days after you give notice.

Yes, sorry, I forgot to mention the shared calendar is coming from an Exchange 2007 server.

Our new headteacher uses a Samsung Galaxy Note. He would like his school Outlook info sync'd with his phone. I have managed to add his mailbox and personal calendar to his phone, however, I haven't been able to find a way to add the shared Global School Calendar and SLT calendar to the Calendar app. Does anyone know if this is possible? I've briefly heard about Google Sync, but does this need to be installed on his PC in his office. Also, if his PA adds anything on to his calendar from her PC (that doesn't have Google Sync installed) will it sync to the phone? Another question is if someone logs in to the PC in his office, will it screw up the Google Sync? Alternatively, can the above be achieved without Google Sync altogether?

Virgin Mobile do the same price plan for £17/Month with Unlimited Data. However, they have recently changed their policy so that if you do go over the limit, you will be charged £1 per day for unlimited data. So, unless you go through 1Gb at the very start of the month, I think that's a decent enough offer. See http://virginmedia.com/datach for more details. Having said that though, I don't think any Unlimited Tarriff will be sufficient for constant listening to Google Music as you'll very quickly hit the fair usage policy limit.

Thanks, I just had the same idea but instead downloaded Speccy and it told me the motherboard is an ECS H61H2-TI. Amazingly, they still support Windows XP! Here is the driver (ASMedia USB 3.0 Host Controller Driver), just in case anyone else needs to do the same (unlikely!)

I've just managed to get in a loan unit of the new RM Profile. Now, although RM tell me that it won't support Windows XP. I need to get Windows XP running on it to work with our network until we go down the route of Windows 7/8 and CC4 in the summer. (Not my choice, so don't jump on me! ) Interestingly enough the RM Profile built perfectly using my standard RIS image and found every driver except one: Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller. Without this, I can't get any USB devices working! Now, I've run Unknown Devices and it's given me a little more information. The manufacturer seems to be "Elitegroup Commputer Sys" and the Hardware ID is "VEN_1B21&DEV_1042&SUBSYS_10421019&REV_00" I've searched far and wide but cannot find the driver anywhere. Can anyone help please?

I have a couple of Windows Updates failing on 1 of my servers (Windows Server 2003 R2). It's an update for Silverlight. Everytime I try to run it I get the following error: The location doesn't exist and when I press cancel, I get the following error: I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Silverlight and I get the same error every time. I've tried redownloading Silverlight, extracting the EXE and trying to fool the installer by pointing it to the new MSI, but it still doesn't want to play ball. So it seems I'm completely stuck. I'm getting the same error with a .NET Framework 4.0 update. Is there anything that I can do to resolve this?

Yeah, I had loads of free codes, but they wouldn't work on the VLK or TechNet versions. From the screenshots and YouTube videos I've seen, you're not really missing much!
