I think the strongest England teams we've had have been Italia 90, Euro 96 and France 98. Those teams were probably worthy of winning the tournament, the strongest of them being Euro 96. Since then, they've not been strong enough and have got gradually worse. The trouble I've always seen with England is that we have a squad of 11 individuals on the pitch, not a team. I also agree with the statement above about the youngsters, it's the way to go. They handle the pressure a lot better than the old guard. Look at Rooney in Euro 2004, Owen in France 98. And look at the Germany team since they went through the mass change. Granted they haven't won anything yet, but they've been there or thereabouts!

Over the years, I have amassed several 1000s of photos that I have backed up from my iPhone. If memory serves me correctly iOS names them IMG_0001.jpg, IMG_0002.jpg, IMG_0003.jpg etc etc. Now, whenever I have updated my iOS I have always started afresh without restoring from backup. So, I would manually copy my photos over to my PC. This would mean that iOS would name my pictures starting from IMG_0001.jpg again. I have several 1000s of photos in folders across a folder struct like below: C:\Other Files\Photos... \2010 \2011 \2012 \2013 \2014 I'd like to get these images all in to one folder "C:\Other Files\Photos" Would it be possible to do a script that would take the photos in folder 2010 and assuming there were 567 photos in that folder rename them to "0001.jpg", "0002.jpg" ... "0567.jpg" and then move on to 2011 and start from "0568.jpg" and so on for the whole folder structure? This is so that I can have all my photos in one folder, without fear of overwriting duplicates and so that I can copy them back to my iPhone Camera Roll and have them in dated order, with the newly taken photos starting at the end of the camera roll after the older ones.

I've got the Gigabyte GA-H87N-WIFI. The graphic specs are: So yeah, it supports up to 4K on the HDMI ports, but only 1080p on the DVI. But your both right, I don't understand why the HDMI is limited on the DGM monitor either because the DGM website also lists it as HDMI 1.4, which should technically support 1440p. Not sure if I'll bother with the AOC for now. Might just wait for it to become more mainstream and get another monitor at a later date when the prices are cheaper.

Unfortunately the chassis has no room for expansion or expansion slots. I've RMA'd the monitor. I'll have to invest in a HDMI compatible model at a later date because the prices are far too high at the moment. Will have to settle for a 24" 1080p for now

I would like to see the Netherlands do well, but unfortunately they always seem to self implode at the recent major tournaments. They went on crazy madness in the final of 2010 and then totally fell apart in Euro 2012.

Well, @nephilim made a good point in the other thread, that Germany have built their own resort which is only an hour away from each stadium they have to play in. Whereas all the other European teams have long flights or coach journeys. So, they'll definitely be feeling more refreshed for their matches. Although the humidity will hurt most of the players.

I definitely agree with that. On the contrary, I think Ronaldo will shine again. Brazil are probably favourites because of home advantage, and other than Spain, I think the other European teams will struggle as they normally do in South American tournaments. But I would like a Germany or England win (the latter being VERY unlikely!)

You've been brave not to put a bet on Spain for overall winners. As much as I'd like Germany (or England of course, but let's face it, that's never gonna happen!) to win, unfortunately, the safer odds it seems are on Spain or Brazil, both of whom I'm not a great fan of. I could be wrong though, because Brazil have lost that invincibility aura about them over the last few World Cups and Spain/Barcelona's Tiki Taka rubbish has been closed out by the stronger European sides. Germany are a dark horse, as are Argentina, more so because the tournament is in South America where European teams don't tend to fair too well.

The cable is definitely Dual Link DVI. The motherboard is GA-H87N-WIFI and it lists max DVI resolution as 1920 x 1200. And HDMI goes up to 4K

So... I bought a Broadleaf One from @VeryPC, which I specified I wanted support for 2560x1440 resolution. Long story short, with a bit of miscommunication here and there, I ended up with a PC which has a Single Layer DVI-I port and only the HDMI supports the full resolution for my monitor. Question is, if I purchase a HDMI to DisplayPort adapter. Can I get the full resolution that way? Or do I have to return the monitor and find one that supports 1440p at HDMI (Prices don't look so good!)

They have announced/refreshed hardware in the past at WWDC. Both the iPhone 4 and Retina MacBook Pro were announced at WWDC as well as current product refreshes.

Annoying that they didn't refresh the line yesterday at WWDC. Think it'll be a quiet refresh later on in the year. Will just have to keep an eye out on the rumour mill!

I take it you haven't got the Retina Display MBPs, where you can't replace ANYTHING! (Well, technically, you can replace one or two bits and bobs on the 15" model, but with great difficulty! Nothing it seems on the 13" model!)

Wasn't it a right nightmare opening up all those iMacs and replacing the RAM and HDD? Didn't you have to mess around with heat guns and suction cup openers?

I've always installed every new iteration of OS X as a fresh install. Nice that it gets rid of any troublesome settings files and it's so much easier now especially seeing as you can download most of the needed apps from the AppStore. I just copy my personal docs on to a USB Flash Drive and reformat. And nowadays I hardly have to do that either seeing as I backup most things to Dropbox and Google Drive. I know people have their fears about the cloud, but I'm a big advocate especially as it takes away the need for having loads of backups of the backups! The most personal document I have of myself on the cloud is my CV! And that's probably plastered all over most of the Internets job sites anyway!

Do you have to go down the laptop route? I've got 5 trolleys in my school and the maintenance is a nightmare. In my previous school we had 18 trolleys and not one was looked after properly. We had wires frayed on the charging cables and all sorts. I would seriously push for an IT suite. Soooo much more easier to manage! And then you have the issue of software deployments! Getting out a switch, spare AC adaptors, extension blocks - all a right old health & safety nightmare!

Just placed an order on the DGM screen. My new office is rather small so I didn't really fancy going down the twin screen route. Let's see how it goes!

I've just purchased a new PC and I'm looking for a monitor. I'll be using the PC to run 3 VMs alongside my day to day work. The question is, should I go for a setup of 2 x 1080p (1920x1080) monitors or go for 1 monitor at 1440p (2560x1440). I've been looking at the DGM IPS-2701WPH Pro IPS 27" (LG Panel) LED Monitor DP/HDMI/DVI/VGA 2560x1440 Speakers PC/MAC - Scan.co.uk. The main thing holding me off on getting the 1440p monitor is the price. However, I am inclined to getting it because I'll be getting a Retina MacBook Pro and it gives me better clarity if using it as an external monitor in addition to giving me more desktop resolution workspace than a 1080p monitor. However, should I just get 2 x 1080p monitors and save on the cost? Although this will take more physical space on my table.
