  1. Probably the final update for Mavericks as Yosemite is rumoured next month alongside new Macs (MacMini please!) and maybe even a new iPad Mini.
  2. Got this text last night: Apple Store: Good news! Items in order have shipped and will deliver by 19/09/2013. :D
  3. It won't install on my iPhone 4 or the wife's 3GS, but I do have an iPad 3 that the wife and kids use. However, I have jailbroken it as they like to use XBMC on the iPad, so I'm not too sure whether I'll bother with the update or not. Might update it once there is a jailbreak for iOS 8 so that I can reinstall XBMC for the kids.

    Osx server or not?

lol well actually, I was looking, and I still am, on my iPhone

    Osx server or not?

Have you tried this link? http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1698 There is a blue button at the top of the page that you need to send an email for to get the download link.

    Osx server or not?

Once you've bound the server to AD, it will pick up your users and groups in WGM. You can then create groups of either AD users to apply the policies to, or you can apply them to the Macs themselves so anyone who logs in gets the policies.
  7. You might wanna consider replacing the battery on the 4S. It's a really easy repair. There are plenty of video guides on YouTube and there's iFixit too. I picked up a replacement on ebay for just under a fiver with all the necessary tools.
  8. You could always put CyanogenMod on it and be done with the bloat. Not sure if the S-Pen will work with CM though. You do realise that the new phone 6 Plus is the same size as the last 2 generations of Galaxy Note?
  9. Very true, it's ironic that quite a few of the websites/forums that I visit that don't have a mobile interface are actually tech/gadget websites! You can imagine how bad it gets trying to browse them on a 3.5" screen!
  10. I always used to think the larger screens were silly, especially when I heard about the Galaxy Note. But I used my friends Note a few months back and the extra real estate especially when web browsing really grew on me. I don't have an iPad of my own (the wife and kids have kinda commendeered mine!) so, this is a nice in-between!
  11. Just wondering if anyone else has pre-ordered the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus? My wife and I have ailing iPhones. She has a 3GS and I have an iPhone 4. We're both on pretty decent SIM only deals so we've both been saving £50 a month over the last year and managed to secure the funds to place the order last Friday. I'll be glad to finally be able to play some games on my phone again without any lag! So, who else is eagerly awaiting Friday?
  12. lol! This came 1 day late for me! Just installed it manually on to 15 laptops yesterday. Oh well!
  13. @mac_shinobi - Price wise, it's a no brainer to go for the Moto G. The 2014 model currently comes in at £149.99 directly from Motorola, but is sure to come down in price once Tesco get it in stock. The specs are almost identical, except for the CPU, RAM and the 1080p display where the Nexus fairs better. However, the Moto G isn't exactly lagging far behind with a Quad Core CPU, 720p display and 1GB of RAM. The Nexus costs £299 for the 16GB and £339 for the 32GB with no expandable storage. Whereas the Moto G has only 8GB but comes with expandable storage at half the price. Also the Moto G is waterproof. Personally, I think the performance isn't really going to be noticeable and so for half the price, the Moto G would be my choice here.
  14. A lot of the reviews have said that although it comes in at a bargain price, it certainly performs as well as some of the top Android phones.
  15. iPhone 6 all the way for me. I've had so many friends who have had issues with the top Android manufacturers, Samsung, HTC, Sony and Motorola and none of the support comes close to that offered by Apple. If you have a problem with an iPhone, you book a Genius Bar appointment and your phone is fixed/replaced usually the very same day, if not within a couple of hours. I had a Sony Xperia Z1 & 2 go faulty for 2 separate friends and both were without a phone for a whole month before it came back from repair. Another friend's Moto G (2nd Gen LTE) went faulty and he was without a phone for 2 weeks. Same case with a Galaxy S4. In a world where people need their phones practically all the time, and for the cost that is paid for the phone, that kind of support just isn't acceptable. If you really wanted to go down the Android route, I wouldn't look any further than the Moto G or the Moto X if you wanted a more feature filled option. However, my personal preference would definitely be the iPhone as I much prefer iOS over Android.
  16. Wasn't sure where to ask this, so I thought I'd go for GC. Just taken delivery of a shiny new Retina MacBook Pro 15". Was wondering if anyone could recommend a nice slim laptop bag. I don't want anything too bulky, but I don't want one of those pouches either. It needs to carry the MacBook and the AC Adapater too.
  17. As a new customer you can always phone up sales and they will pretty much waive the fee if you threaten to go to Sky or someone else. You can also usually get a decent amount of cashback if you go through Quidco. I got £150. I then got my connection fee refunded plus the 6 months half price extended to 12 months because they couldn't install the phone line due to an external fault. Since moving on to the SuperHub 2, my connection has been near flawless on 152Mbps.
  18. They only cap uploads now. They don't cap download speeds anymore. http://my.virginmedia.com/traffic-management/traffic-management-policy-thresholds.html
  19. It did indeed. It made me remember this scene from the "Dalek" Episode:
  20. It might seem like a silly question, but how exactly do you wake the PC up from Sleep Mode? The reason I ask is because I find that sometimes, if I just walk past the PC and accidently nudge the table, causing the mouse to move like a millimeter then the PC will wake up. Conversely, sometimes I will sit down to use the PC and no matter how much I move the mouse or click buttons or press several keys on the keyboard it just won't wake up and then I need to whack several keys before it'll burst in to life. So, what is the "correct" way to wake the PC up? (Just as a passing thought, is it because I have a wireless keyboard and mouse (Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 1000, Wireless Optical 2000) that the wireless receiver is probably going to sleep too therefore causing the wake up delay? But that doesn't explain why sometimes even the slightest nudge will wake the PC up)
  21. Yeah, that's where I looked first, but I didn't know if it had been updated yet.
  22. The Apple Store went "down" earlier this afternoon in the UK (Around 4pm). I've noticed a lot of accessories are now showing on the front page, especially Beats by Dre, but does anyone know what else was updated?
  23. Does anyone have a template for a primary school child friendly ICT Acceptable Usage Policy. Something for the younger kids that isn't too daunting, no big complicated words and something that is also parent friendly for parents who in the majority have English as a 2nd and not so strong in the understanding of the language.
  24. That's the trouble, like @sonofsanta said, why would anyone go where their friends aren't. That's what makes Facebook so strong, it has the user base. I probably have around 300 friends on Facebook, 90% of whom have probably never heard of Google+. You see on adverts, add us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter. You don't get an add me to your Google+ Circle/Hangout. It's what makes WhatsApp stronger than Viber, Telegram, BBM, Skype and any other pretenders to the instant messaging crown, they just don't have the user base that WhatsApp do, even though they might have a superior product. MySpace and Bebo never had anywhere near the user base that Facebook has managed to build up and I can't see people wanting to flock to a new trend anytime in the near future.
  25. Google have tried so hard to get in to the social networking buzz but have failed every time. First there was Orkut, then they tried buying 2 companies, Dodgeball and Jaiku, then there was Wave and Buzz and now Google+ which seems to be getting the most attention, but I can't see it surviving too long. In reality, I really don't think anyone is gonna challenge Facebook & Twitter's crowns.
