VMware Workstation 7 - 100% CPU
Zoom7000 replied to Zoom7000's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
Right, changing it to use 1 core did relieve the 100% CPU usage, bringing it down to around the 50-60% mark. However, Microsoft Security Essentials on the VM was using 100% CPU constantly. No idea why. I uninstalled it and it seems OK for the time being. Not sure why MSE was completely killing my brand new clean VM. -
What do you wanna know? For me, it's the vast majority of homebrew apps available on Cydia that enable those little features that really should be enabled by default.

Yup. iPhone 3GS 32Gb (3.1.2) with blackra1n. I can't stand a stock iPhone. As I always say, Jailbreaking allows you to unleash the beast that Apple have kept locked up.

I'm trying to install XP SP3 on a new VM I created. My specs are as follows: Toshiba Qosmio F50-10z Intel Core2Duo P8400 2.26Ghz 4Gb RAM 500Gb HDD nVidia GeForce 9600M GT Windows 7 x64 The VM I am creating is: 1 CPU (2 Cores) 2Gb RAM (Shared) 80Gb HDD (Dynamic) Windows XP SP3 All I am trying to do is install Windows XP, but it's taking forever, and my host PC CPU is at 100%. Any reason why it should be killing my CPU?

I can get the audio working fine on some of the PCs using Media Player Classic (with the K-Lite Codec Pack) however, they will not play in WMP11. I have tried multiple settings for the speaker setup in Windows. Tried: No Speakers Stereo Speaker Desktop Speakers Laptop Stereo Speakers Still no luck...
-
Already checked that, set it to No Speakers or Built In. Still doesn't budge. I'm using Windows Media Player or Media Player Classic with the K-Lite Codec Pack to play DVDs.

We have a range of HP Ultra Slim Desktop PCs (DC7900 and DC7800) and they all suffer a similar problem when anyone tries to play DVDs. You can hear all the background music/sound, but the speech is completely drowned out. I have looked high and low in the sound settings in control panel but can't make any sense of it. I'm sure its not a codec problem, because we have the same setup on other normal form factor PCs and don't have any issues. Any ideas what could be causing the issue?

I have a private job to do for a friend who needs his PC rebuilt. Of course, as is always the case, he has lost all his CDs. I have to rebuilD 2 machines: PC - Sony VAIO PCV-6603 (AIO) Windows XP Home Sony (According to the CoA) Laptop - Lenovo 3000 C200 Windows XP Professional Lenovo (According to the CoA) Now, my question is, if I download some retail XP Home/Professional Disks from Technet and edit the setupp.ini file as detailed in this guide, will I have any issues with the Product Key or Activation?

Today is Eid-ul-Adha! Day off! Woo Hoo! But anyway, student like behaviour aside, I want to wish all my fellow members Eid Mubarak! Hope all those who are celebrating have a great day!

I'm getting the exact problem described in this KB Support Article. Now, Microsoft have detailed the resolution as follows: Can someone please tell me what on Earth that resolution is talking about and how to fix the issue? Because to me it sounds just about as useful as the error message!

I can't wait for this game to be released on Friday! The cheapest I have been able to find this is on Gameplay.co.uk. Has anyone ever ordered from them? Are they all legit and good service? Anyone found anywhere cheaper?

Why don't Capita sort out some of the annoyances in SIMS.net, like having to add users to groups 1 by 1 as opposed to adding multiple group membership to the user account like in Active Directory! And a proper silent deployment with easy and less annoying automated updates, instead of doing something that would be considered by most as vastly unnecessary! SIMS on an iPod? Why? Just why?

Yes, it is £6 a month. You do not need to be a previous Sky customer. I don't have a Sky subscription and I just signed up for it. The channels I can see on the list are: Sky Sports 1 Sky Sports 2 Sky Sports 3 Sky Sports Xtra Sky Sports News Sky News At The Races ESPN It only works over WiFi but it is pretty cool! To get the free 3 month subscription if you are an O2 customer, text "SKY" to 2020. But be quick, it's only for the first 150,000.

I'm afraid that statement is a wild rumour that is flying around. There appears to be a lot of talk that TUPE only protects you for 1, 2 or 5 years etc. This is untrue. TUPE protects you indefinitely. Both HR departments and my union (Unite) I spoke to have confirmed this. If RM lose the contract, go bust or whatever, you are TUPEd back to the school. My union rep and I had a thorough read of the RM Contract (not JD - I still have the same borough JD) and we were both happy at the contents of the contract. It was a standard contract that just laid out the T&Cs as required by law really. Nothing untowards at all. Trust me, I have never been happier in my position. There has been a few things to readjust and get used to, but nothing of any major concern that our unions have felt aggrieved about and our unions have been extremely supportive every step of way. I have spoken to a few TUPEd employees and almost all have felt the same way. If anyone has anymore questions, feel free to PM, I will try to help in anyway I can.

UK O2 users now able to unlock iPhones Nice one O2! It'll be useful to have the unlock officially. I know people abroad have spent vast amounts of money for factory unlocked iPhones, so props to O2 for offering free unlocks!

We use nLite to build our PC images and we have a standard image that we deploy out across the school. Because most of the PCs are standard student desktops, I have removed the games component using nLite. So you cannot reinstall it using Add/Remove Programs. So, on to the problem. We have a friendly site supervisor who mans the reception pretty late on some days for late evening let ins. He would like to be able to keep from total boredom by being able to have the odd game of Spider Solitare, Minesweeper etc. Is there anyway I can reinstall the games components without having to totally rebuild the PC?

Happy Birthday Tom! Hope you have a good one!

Yes, Windows 7 x64 RTM, 4Gb RAM.
-
The BBC should be brave and put him on alongside someone who isn't afraid to rip him apart. I vote for Jeremy Clarkson! And if you want fisticuffs, maybe George Galloway!
-
I ran mine on my Windows 7 RTM laptop just fine. Maybe it doesn't like Windows 7 RC.

blackra1n is also available for Mac. Just click on the big Apple icon - I would link to the file directly, but Geohot asked not to on his blog.

Being able to customise the phone in ways that Apple don't allow, or don't want to allow! Custom themes, custom tones, lots more free apps on Cydia, Rock and Icy. I was almost depressed with the iPhone before I jailbroke. Now I love it! You gotta remember, jailbreaking is not unlocking. These are 2 different things. I am on O2 and have no intention of changing. At least for 23 more months! - But jailbreak... oh yes!
