You're right on the spool, but the size of the Turbos simply limit this, if you were driving this how it was meant to be driven I can't see how you'd drop below spool range It's also about controlling and harnessing the power, I guess you could drive the car at its limits and never really worry about internals, oil issues, temps and the likes as its been produced in such a way. Yes, and only an idiot would assume that; a hot hatch is quite capable of hitting a 4 second 0-60, and the gearing ratio is rather irrelevant, IIRC spool on the 9ff is around 3650rpm, the power band on 1100+ HP would wreck havoc on any "long" gear, added state of the art traction control, lsd and the likes and I can't really see the porsche doing more than 4 seconds to 60mph

The full solution would imply 2 x Server for Solaris for SRSS 4.1+ and the Sun Rays/SGD, 2 x Server for VMWare ESX/ESXi and hosting all the machines. Providing fault tolerance The simple solution (Or Poor Mans VDI) is one server, a decent raid situation and running the SRSS server as a virtual machine on the ESX server, including the backup methods to provide the fault tolerance. Everything can be accomplished on a single server with some tolerance. You could do it many ways including Solaris Server + VDI Broker + Windows Terminal Server. Suppose the end result would be the ESX Setup, Solaris Setup, SRSS Setup and SGD Setup.

I'd look at 2/3 DC's to be honest, a few points you should learn as they are MCSE topics are: (As I assume this would be the end goal, its a very invaluable certification to have and defiantly opens up possibilities in the future) Tree's, forests, and trusts between these. I setup 6 2003 Enterprise DC's 3 for onedomain.local and 3 for seconddomain.local I messed around with DFS linking and replicating between the trusts, setting up site links and quotas, setting up the forest between both domains, checking credentials and replication between, Global catalog replication between the domains and the likes. Knowing how to setup a GPO is a good start as well, you don't need to know everything bar the basic, logging, usernames and passwords (minimums/maximums) You can set everything up via GUI's and the likes but your going need need to learn the following commands as well; DSADD, DSMOD, DSQUERY, DSMOVE, DSRM. Would also be a good point learning about groups, types and inheritance. Shares and permissions are another good point to focus on. But to start you're defiantly on the right lines.
