Course manager still gets used for KS3 even if it isn't actively maintained (Census used to pull class activity information from there, but can't remember if that's been scrapped now?) The other possibility I spotted today was: *Pastoral structure, obviously for your Heads of Year/ Form Tutors/Joint Main Supervisors *Focus -> School -> Academic Structure -> Edit Lesson Staff and Rooms It should come from Nova-T6 though thinking about it, Main Teacher can be set on the classes screen by double clicking on the class name and the drop down at the bottom of the box. Still might not be the right area, but not sure where else it could come from.

As far as I'm aware, the free office for staff/students still requires you to licence your full staff under an ovs/ees agreement. You mention buying select licences through LCC so you may not qualify for it.

I'd suggest having a careful look in Course Manager (as Course Manager has become such a critical component to various things now such as the cnesus and exams) - I've not looked at it in great detail, but I'm guessing if you find the subject whcih the groups are linked to, the classes and supervisors sections in there will probably contain the details your looking for which link else where.

I've never done a server install with solus3, I'd suggest a better way of doing it would be to download the Discover ISO from SupportNet and install/configure it using that and then add in the configuration details to Solus3 so that it can then manage the updates for it.

Well in it's first incarnation Solus3 worked forward from the Spring 2011 upgrade as it's base mark and then proceeded to check each one as it went through the deployment (I remember Summer checking Spring first before doing the Summer and the same for Autumn again starting with Spring) and shortly after that it changed so that the check would no longer take place, providing Solus3 had seen that the previous dependancy had been deployed it would work from that point (or whatever it's last successful dependancy was in the chain). I guess it's still a part of Solus 3 for that reason, however as an annual Spring ISO is released, you would expect Solus 3 to be able to roll up to a Spring Full release and purge it's repository. Having said that, Solus 3.8 is the best release so far for pushing updates out (even if it still has it's issues)

Well they readded the Public Folders to Office 365 and exchange 2013 with improved features because of an upcry, so I assumed they were still an ok feature. Googling the question came back with the majority of reuslts suggetsing a public folder, it just seemed a bit overkill to me to create a whole public folder structure for it (but then if we move to more calendars if this becomes a success that maybe it would be the better solution...)

I want it to be accessible in both OWA and Outlook and i don't think the Sharepoint calendar will allow that will it? It adds another layer to it where if I can keep it all within the Exchange aspect of Office 365 I'd be happier.

Wondering if anyone can advise on the best way to do this - we are wanting to move to a staff shared calendar which will hold all of the events going on in school, we use some other convoluted system at the moment. How would people advise to do it within Office 365 - a shared mailbox with the calendar shared, a Room mailbox or Equipment mailbox (and if one of these, which one and why) or a public folder with a clendar in it? Requirements we have at the moment are to restrict adding events to a subset of users and only allow access to Staff users to view the calendar. I think all 3 are viable options, just wondering if someone can advise which would be the best to use for our needs Thanks

You'll need to Decrypt and Inspect the traffic which goes to sites.google.com and then if you filter the full url it should work.

Well, mine is being replaced because the battery has stopped charging to more then 10% which has me slightly worried. :/ I was trying to create an image of the disk before I started faffing too much with it (which is when I noticed I'd had it on charge for an hour or so doing some research and realised the battery wasn't charging, left it another 2 hours and it still hadn't increased), but not sure what to use to clone it - anyone have any suggestions for when I get the replacement?

Evening Been looking at HAP+ for a bit now and it's going to fit into pluging the gap in my next project pretty nicely. The stupid question I'm going to ask is, is it better to host HAP+ on it's own server, a server doing other bits and pieces (wsus/WDS/SEC for example) or somewhere like the main file server? Cheers!

I've just upgraded to 3.2.8 with Ubuntu being the underlying OS, but we were on 3.2.7 before that and hadn't noticed any issues. Not noticed any issues on 3.2.8 either so far, but we don't use the Guest Mode/Portal side of it at the moment.

Firstly, make sure your signed out of Office 365. Log in to the VLSC and if you pick Online Service Activation you should then be taken to screen where you can manage your activations for the corresponding licenc ID. Once there, sign in with Office 365, pick which licence you want to associate and away you go.

Curious, because I'll be completely honest and say that I've ignored Windows 8.1 for the most part rightly or wrongly, whether there are any other plugins/common apps that are no longer needed to be deployed like Adobe Flash Player for example because they are handled in a different way? We're going to be testing a Linx tablet with Windows 8.1 Pro, so if I can through them into an existing OU with just some minor tweaks to some GPO's to apply filtering so things aren't deployed that won't work/aren't needed, it'll make me much happier. If not, I'll just through it in anyway and see what breaks/doesn't work.

What I did for our SIMS/SOLUS migration from 2008 to 2012 (both server and SQL) earlier this year was copy the SIMS share across, download the latest installable ISO and install that and the update ISO's into the copied SIMS share. Run the standard SIMS server installer so it's all configured and ready to go, use the migration tool to export the SIMS db, connect it to the new server using the migration tool, same process for discover and then reconfigure SOLUS3 so that all the targets are updated to point to the new server. Left it for a month and then migrated SOLUS3 across once I was certain that SIMS was working correctly on the new server. So pretty much the way you've planned to do it.

Meant to reply back to this, Static IP has resolved the issue. Not ideal, but solves the issue, cheers! Now to wait for 5.0.1 to arrive...

I'd view the deployment log in the Solus3 GUI and see what it says, it'll give you a hint in the right direction. Also check the systemlog in the Solus3 directory on the client and see if there's any clue in there.

What WiFi issues were you having? I've got an issue at the moment with our school wireless on my Nexus 4 which it seems to connect to but then routes all traffic via mobile still as it doesn't detect the proxy properly. If I forget the network and readd it, with exactly the same settings it's fine.

I emailed our reseller this morning and asked them to find out how we go about getting the licence keys as there doesn't seem to be any detail about creating the Self Enrollment keys/linking to an OVS-ES agreement
