  1. Yeah it's me who updates the intranet, so I'll look at doing some sort of report for it and manually adding it - was just trying to save the job.
  2. Hi I have about 5 machines which for some reason I have to set to Use Software Rendering instead of GPU rendering to prevent IE from repeatedly crashing. Thankfully most of these are located in offices, however 2 in classrooms have also started exhibiting the same behaviour for some unknown reason. Setting it per user was fine in the offices because it's one person, but classrooms are a trickier issue. Anyone have any idea how I can easily configure these 5 machines to automatically configure this either through local GPO or some other default configuration option? (GPP is one possible option I think) Thanks
  3. Cold call once, pushy sales guy really put me off. Much prefer dealing with @ict-direct and @ICTDirect_Dave
  4. I was using mine for about an hour this morning as a tablet while someone was remoted in to my main machine and it wasn't an issue.
  5. I suppose the question to ask is do you have any staff under 200 hours per week that you need to be worrying about this? Bearing in mind that it works out at 5 hours per week term time only. My personal understanding of it is that 200 hours is the point at which someone is counted as a full FTE and as we've no one working less then 200 hours per year didn't need to be concerned about the rest of it. If you go of Pugh then no one under 200 hours is counted, it's a simple yes/no: Microsoft Enrolment for Education Solutions (EES) | Microsoft | Products | - discounted software for education establishments Edit: For extra fun, contact Microsoft direct and ask at [email protected] or call 0870 607 0800 - be warned, I've still got 2 different answers from 2 different people on that number which puzzled me... 6. Yeah that's where I was looking to do but couldn't see how to filter it to apply to a group. Setting the defaults on the Students group will do what I'm after though so not an issue any more.
  7. Resource 23659 (it's a news item with the link) has the password on Support Net
  8. Not sure then, tried mine in IE11, Firefox and Chrome and all 3 open the interface correctly. :/ Normally it's IE that does the screwy stuff for me.
  9. Mine's working fine and doesn't look anything like that - looks like it's no loading the css code for some reason? Sound's daft, but Smoothwall's in firefox's exception list and you've cleared the cache?
  10. Please let me know if it does! Have dropped Tom a PM and asked if I can have the updates released too.
  11. Couldn't remember whether akamaihd was something to do with the Office 365 admin portal or another website I was having issues with at the time - it has a certificate issue whether it was or not so might have been another site.
  12. Update 83, not impressed. Add the following to a category which is set to Do Not Inspect for HTTPS inspection at the top of the policy list: msocdn.com office365.com microsoftonline-p.com akamaihd.net sc.imp.live.com clienttemplates.content.office.net support.content.office.net Edit: add collections.parcelforce.com to one too to keep your exam officer happy too if there's any more exams needing collecting.
  13. You answered the question with that point which I'd missed the tick box for. I wanted to configure it so that Students, when added to PaperCut, would be configured to Charge to personal account with popup but thought I would need to keep remembering to go and adjust users each time I added a new one. Configuring the group defaults will sort this, thanks!
  14. Yes you can, I attended a webinar before Christmas that was discussing the benefits/potential options for Azure in Education and it highlighted that there is acadmeic pricing available through a reseller/partner and that you can also tie it into your OVS-ES/EES agreement if you wish too.
  15. So, in just under a week of the trial, I'm really liking Papercut NG, still having some teething troubles with aspects, but want to push on anyway. Next thing I want to do is start prompting for a print confirmation for Students. Now at the moment I can do this, thats fine but I'm thinking more down the line should we continue. Is there a way that I can have either members of a group be set to charge to personal account but prompt or can I some how schedule a bulk user action to apply the settings to the users after the synchronisation has run? I can see you can call scripts to do various thigns but can't work out if it's possible to automate something like bulk user actions?
  16. I'd say mailmerge would probably be your best bet then and hand them out. like others above, we went the dirsync route so same username/password.
  17. Sorry, should have been more clear - I want to get the Organisational Impact out of Papercut and display the whole school's impact on our intranet homepage. So far all I can find is the individual user's impact widgets for displaying.
  18. Hi all I've just put the full version of Papercut on our print server to trial it and I'm very impressed. One of the little things I like is the Environmental impact information that shows in the admin page - I can work out how to get various widgets for individual users impact, but wondered if there is a way I can just get the Organisational Impact to show in some way somewhere to start of with before getting more specific? Any advice would be appreciated!
  19. Question for others who have them - have you found any other cases with keyboards that are compatible? While the origami case is good, the keyboard I'm not a fan of and neither is the person I've leant it too, so curious if anyone else has any other case options?
  20. I suppose it depends which LA you are in. Lancs seems to have had a central filter with a bit more devolved control for a while, cumbria has tended to be a global filter which we can put requests into to be blocked/unblocked with a few less restrictive options available. at the moment we're on the less restrictive option with Smoothwall sat in front of it to tighten parts of it back up.
  21. Got my replacment earlier this week so rather then doing anything fancy I just connected it to the domain, set up a few Group Policies and played for 2 days - have to say I'm very impressed. Had promised some other staff a go before Christmas so have had to give it up for a few weeks now, however I really really like it!
  22. Does that file actually exist in the path it's looking for? If not, you may need to redownload the update (and it might be worth telling it to redownload the update anyway just in case)
  23. I'd also say that for things like exams organiser and NovaT6 on occasion I've had to set the Region to US, apply that and then change it back to UK to correct the issue.
  24. I really like Smoothwall, we've had it in for 3/4 years now. Our only sticking point now is becoming the price which I've been able to manage this year, next year I don't think I'll be able to though.
  25. I'm fairly certain Syscap will do a 5 year lease and I assume Stone do, most advise only 3 years due to the nature of Operating Leases. An academy can do a 5 year lease, but I think it needs approval by the EFA. It was all tightened up a couple of years back when the business with leases hit the news.
