[ipad] Make App MDM Managed if User Installed
howartp replied to howartp's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Yep and yep. -
As technician on a week-long three-site christian conference (EP for those who know it), a guest speaker left his notes at my site when he moved to the next site. He was a known controversial speaker so I had to fax the only copy of his notes across to his next hotel then destroy them so his opponents couldn't get hold of them. I diligently did so. 12 blank sheets of white paper were received at the hotel...

Yes, the log shows pending for a while, then when the student operates the device it goes to completed/failed and the error then appears. -
[ipad] Make App MDM Managed if User Installed
howartp replied to howartp's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
That's what we're doing, in Airwatch lingo, but the management of the app isn't actually occurring - so when we try and remove the app it says it's not managed. -
Good morning. Does anyone have experience of this setting in MDMs? We're trying to remove an app* from student devices by taking management of it, but it's stating it cannot be removed as it's currently unmanaged. We've set the app to be Managed and Assumed Management (which is Airwatch's wording for the above setting). Has anyone successfully taken management of an existing user-installed app? *The app is hidden via policy but brief testing of unhiding it didn't seem to resolve this issue. Peter

Can't answer specifically about win10, but the keyboard shortcuts of Win+left/right might help moving your apps across if you can't sort it. Peter

We're using it this year for the first time. Our new deputy is more up on it so has introduced it; not heard of any problems yet. Only using it in school this year, presumably to release to students/parents next year. Peter

We have six VLANS for wifi. 90: APs 91: IT devices permitted to access LAN from WLAN 92: Guests 93: Staff 96: Students 112: Sixth Form Students is a /20 subnet (4096 clients) and Sixth Form is a /22 subnet (1024 clients). We have 1400 students + 300 sixth form, each with up to two devices (phone + tablet) so had to expand them at some point.

I sent an email at midnight last month. Got hauled in the next day, it's not appropriate because I woke up a teacher. My senior technician, not being aware of the conversation, replied to an email at 10.30pm re some exams taking place the following morning. You guessed it... Outcome: Neither of us touch our work from the moment we walk out at 4pm till the moment we walk back in at 8am. Previously we'd do anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours work a night at home, AS and WHEN necessary/useful to get something done that needed concentration.

Our whole-school finance system is Corero Resource32000, now bought out by Civica. Online webclient for departments to raise POs, approve invoices and view their budgets, but a windows client for Finance team to manage everything.

Consistently poor experience with EXA Networks

(We're with EXA but no filtering - our connection didn't drop so that agrees with your prognosis) -
Who manages your Stage/production AV?
howartp replied to SChurchill's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Me (Network Manager) voluntarily, and I bring in my 15 Radio Mics to complement schools' 12 mics for big shows - on the understanding I can borrow the same in reverse for my big shows. We have a performance TA who covers performance exams and other related performances, whilst I lead the school shows plus parents/info/induction evenings etc. -
Give Jackie a ring at BIST - 01274 518704 - tell her Peter passed on details. (She's a parent of two ex-students here so great relationship with her)

Just checked the FAQs; both talk to each other.

howartp replied to DrBeaker's topic in General Chat
Lucky to have a sizable study as it's an old granny-flat built onto the side of the house 40+ years ago. Virgin-Media superhub in Modem mode, with Asus R100 (?) router in front of it, and a Ubiquiti AP wired to centre of house for wifi Almost "Headless" Windows 7 PC serving as file/print server plus Antispam and intranet etc (for testing pre-upload to church website) Wired to most PC locations and SkyQ. Acronis TrueImage backup to cloud nightly/weekly. -
Secondary inc Sixth Form 1700 Just upgraded to 1Gbps last month EXA Leased Line £8,500 pa Bear in mind several suppliers are offering 1Gbps for same/less than 200-300mbps. We won't use more than ~300 to start with, but no brainer to get 1,000 for less than cost of 300.

Ditto with HP. If you have physical access, you can wipe password with a paperclip then login.

Salamander certainly will be able to, and a whole lot more besides. -
I don't do T6/timetable myself, but i'm sure any changes my timetabler does have to be done in T6 for this reason. If you aren't using T6 then you can change in SIMS, but if you're using T6 then that needs to be the correct 'base' data. (Not to be confused with exams basedata)
