Never heard of it, but definitely interested.

Yes, I believe we changed over. I've not had reports of speed issues.

[sims] UPN and Admission Number availability in Reports
howartp replied to RootsSchImp's topic in MIS Systems
As Esteban says, you can definitely report on Admission Number and UPN. I do it regularly (AdNo) as it's our student login number. -

[sims] Problems with Subject teachers assessing registers.

My notes I check every year: -
Data Collection forms
howartp replied to djrscally's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
It’s a while since but somewhere in GDPR guidance there was something about not pre-filling information on forms. -
Data Collection forms
howartp replied to djrscally's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
I actually meant check the rules; we still could prefill ours as it’s a custom PHP website I’ve written, but by the rules I’ve had to stop prefilling. -

I'd check that out if I were you; we can't prefill anything on ours anymore. -
Paxton readers inside and outside the classroom...
howartp replied to rad's topic in Physical Security
Ah, with you! Yes, lock rules are useful. We've even got one on the IT Support Office where if an IT Support badge is denied, it still unlocks, just in case there's issues. Not foolproof but certainly useful! -
Paxton readers inside and outside the classroom...
howartp replied to rad's topic in Physical Security
You’ve lost me there. Yes you can schedule the doors to be locked/unlocked. Or you can schedule when student cards work/don’t work. Or have a Rule so teacher can lock/unlock door with their card. Or many combinations thereof. -

We're currently like @ITGURU but working towards @mukz. They're just finishing replacing the entire fire alarm site-wide (complete overhaul) but unfortunately linking to the Paxton units was "forgotten" when they wrote the spec, so we've got to wait for the project to be finished and signed off before we discuss modifying it! -
NFER (National Foundation of Educational Research) 2012 main survey
howartp replied to A10's topic in Educational Software
Fast forward 6 years to June 2018 and I've had the same pile of c**p land on my desk. They've finally emailed me to see why I haven't sent back the diagnostics, so I've let them know what I think of the whole setup. Waiting to see what becomes of it! Peter -
Morning. Does anyone use this? How have you deployed it? How do you manage proxy settings and "seats"? We use Group Policy to deploy MSI's, rather than images deployed around school, but it doesn't come with installer and little success doing a before-and-after msi capture of it. Peter

Surprise surprise, we're going back to the old way. Still requires SIMS lady to unpick various NCCs and re-add them.

So did I, but our new DH comes with experience from other schools and often expects me to ring them up to ask how something was achieved as we're not competent to do it ourselves.

We had offsite training day on Friday, so had exams banging on the door at 11am. Summer release is out - install it now! No chance, i'll let other folk beta-test it first!

Hello. For years, we've created a "class" for registration period and put our students in it, which then shows session 1 on the timetable. We also put students into the inbuilt pastoral structure so SIMS knows which form a student is in. Our new deputy head would like us to do this properly, ie just use the in-built pastoral structure (Focus > School > Pastoral Structure) - but this doesn't appear on timetables (Reports > Timetables > Student timetables). Can anyone guide me how to get the pastoral form period to appear on the timetable, without creating a "class" as well as the inbuilt structure? I don't touch NovaT or Curriculum, so you'll need to guide me in those areas so I can converse with my SIMS colleague on that bit. Pastoral Structure, Lesson Monitor I'm kinda ok. Peter

Bitsi teeny weeny, yellow polka dot...? -
Our hall projector is 8500 lumens and depending whether I put it on the front or back screen (adjusting pan/tilt/zoom accordingly) it's hard to see even with the lights on dim; putting it outside would have no chance.

No idea where I was but one junction last year the lines were all over the place and I ended up slowing waiting for a gap in traffic - then realising I was already in the live lane with lorries chasing up my rear end! That's the only time I've got shook up when out driving but it scared me senseless! When already on the motorway I always move over ahead of time to allow folk to merge on.

I've three Zoostorms at home ("Church office"), for my parents and as our "server" PC. Been running untouched for years, no problems.

I had this during the interval of a show when I needed to copy Act 1's video off the iPad Eventually managed it by messing with drivers; possibly removed all USB hardware's from Dev Mgr, removed all Apple from AddRemoveProgs. Got there in the end but can't tell you exactly what!

Do you have Sophos Enterprise Console? I'd expect that info to be in there?
