I don’t use all those services, but I’ve only come across ParentPay using staffcode as identifier - most others correctly use person_id. I’ve actually changed our ParentPay to use person_id - if you’ve got Salamander ask them to copy our script which generates a valid import file the same as Mis:Sync would - you then log in and import it via website instead of Mis:Sync. (Once you’ve sent a spreadsheet to them to switch existing ids)

That's a cut down version of mine. Basically, if the user doesn't exist, create them and set ActiveSync, OWA Policy etc. Otherwise skip them completely. Peter

So is ours presently, but we've a large site and only light areas depending whether there's lettings or events on. The timeclocks or fishkeys are in at least 10 locations across the site that I can think of, some inside classrooms nearest to where the outside light(s) are, so it's understandably a pain for the site team.

Hi, Does anyone (or anyone's site/premises teams) use any software/LAN controlled timers, eg for programming their exterior lighting for evening events etc? We have Paxton door access and one option is to use the relays on those, then everything is all in the same software, but wondered if anyone else used others? No, if you're using fire relays then they go in-line with the maglock like the pic earlier in this thread. Fire alarm rings, the power dies to the maglocked regardless of Paxton or Net2. If using a single input from the Fire Alarm, yes it goes where you've indicated the relay.

Yep, understood, We're tendering a new site-wide fire alarm in 3-4 months, which will be the ideal time to include fire relays by each door. Therefore until then we're using Paxton to achieve it.

I gotta feel sorry for one of our year 11 kids. Back in year 7/8 he was a nightmare for my team; always fiddling with IT, very good "hacker", etc. Not aware of any problems recently; I think he's turned a corner and using his considerable skills for good. However he's been caught this lunchtime operating the school gate which only disabled students and staff have access to; students should use the single-person turnstiles adjacent. He let out probably 200 students, thus unaccounted for in fire alarm or safeguarding situations. Checking the Paxton log, he was using an NQT Trainee staff card, and with his reputation preceding him, he was/is in big trouble. Turns out, both his mifare card and the trainee's mifare card give the same Paxton ID when converted - unlucky for him! I'm now checking all our other cards to make sure no more conversion duplicates. Peter

To do this properly, you need Pro. It adds an option on each door that says "when I go in to alarm, open all [these] doors". You only set it on whichever door(s) have the wire from the fire alarm. Without Pro, I think it's doable with a trigger - when door 'x' goes into alarm, open [these] doors. Not sure what the differences are though. Peter

Correct. Our "Send to Meritec Username/Password" is set to groupcall, which is one of our SIMS accounts. The groupcall server (we've various jobs which we run in one Xporter) is excluded from auth and subject to light filtering only.

As I understand it, it's as you desire. The classrooms from last year freeze on ~31st July with memberships as of that date, then additional new ones appear on ~1st September. I'll find someone and check ours.

Two screenshots attached. We give it an external hostname (https://foldr.southcraven.org) which we use inside and outside school, so that the iPads always have the same URL to access it. (With split DNS so traffic doesn't go outside for internal hosts) Don't see why it won't work over VPN but never tried it.

You got it. At first run (or I guess via MDM) it asks you whether the device is personal or shared - if shared then it will never store the username/password of the user logging in.

Yeah, as @ass17 says, it sounds like Google+ is getting involved - we turned of Google+ for all organisations within the Admin Console.

All Paxton readers will read Paxton tokens. That reader (part no 353-467) will also read Mifare. So if you have, or are considering, Mifare cards for anything else (cashless, photocopying, library) then always go for the Mifare readers up front - they'll still read Paxton tokens either way. Our engineers who installed all carried their own Paxton tokens on their fobs; I just added their token to my record in Net2 whilst they were here so they could test our doors. http://www.paxton.info/1438 always has the latest public download on it. Paxton sent me that and told me that themselves when I asked if I could get the latest version.

I've got the public link to latest download, at work. Paxton tokens are NOT mifare, but mifare can be used with Paxton as long as you get the mifare readers. A mifare number of AABBCCDDEEFF will be truncated to AABBCCDD, turned into Decimal, then the rightmost 8 digits are the Paxton token number.

We only allow Trusted for admin offices where the person lives in their office all day and are very good at locking their PCs when they leave. Classrooms or pastoral offices (year teams) etc are not allowed it.

Ditto to all the above. We don't DIY ours as I'm not allowed by premises team, but I do DIY fix/tweak and I did all the software side once installers had typed in their Pro key. Can't fault support helpdesk either; they've been great. Peter

Hi everyone. My MIS manager and Exams manager are at loggerheads for the second time today in two consecutive years about the same problem. I don't touch Course Manager, ever, so I haven't a clue who is right or wrong. MIS manager (and myself) do the Academic Year stuff and Exams manager does Course Manager stuff. We set the Academic Year to run 04/09/17 - 20/07/18 which reflects our term dates. In Course Manager I reckon 80% of the active courses have the correct End Date and P End Date. However several have the End date or P End date set to 31/07/18 or 03/09/19 which is the last day before next years Academic Year. Does anyone know whether (most / default) Course Manager dates are set automatically, or automatically-with-a-button, or manually? (I know you can change them per individual, but there's so many wrong that Exams are blaming MIS manager for setting something wrong elsewhere, and MIS blaming Exams) In other words, is someone doing something to cause a lot of these dates to be wrong, or is there a button that's caused it. The Bulk Update button in Tools > Academic Management > Course Manager only pulls August dates back to 31st July, but the report is showing it won't change anything. Peter

You can install the Net2 client software on as many PCs as you want; it's one of the options when you run setup.exe Therefore the Desktop reader just plugs into your client copy of the software on your own PC. Peter
