  1. I've been asked to look into using numbers that correspond to behaviour in registers for Sims, does anyone use this at their school that would like to share how it is done? Is it as simple as adding the relevant attendance marks to the maintain codes section?
  2. take a look at this, should help a bit https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/24541.powershell-bulk-create-ad-users-from-csv-file.aspx
  3. you could set the home path to the new share using the %username% vairable at the end. it would then create the folders with correct permissions the same way the home directories are created then switch them back. I've used that method before with good results.
  4. sound like it could be fun, I'd like to join in.
  5. thats normal, arp is looking for the hardware address that relates to the ip address for the servers.
  6. the key is linked to the computer name in ad. if you swap the drive from machine to machine you'll need to enter the recovery key which is quite long.
  7. it was run as administrator interactively, couldn't get it to work any other way.
  8. The servers are having to process the looping packets making them work harder possibly?
  9. We image ours with education version, however i would advise against surfaces as we seem to be sending one back every couple of weeks. They don't appear to be tough enough for a school environment although it is a mix of hardware failures and damages.
  10. We've had the same issue here too. Ended up with a scripted install that's run as administrator. Fortunately we only has 30 machines that use it.

    3D Printers

3d printers are good fun but very very slow to make anything which is probably the biggest reason they can only make some parts for the project. i have a prusa I3 and it is of resolution isn't the greatest but does the job. had a few failures due to part coming away from the heatbed but other than that no real issues. not sure how long the stool feet would last due to the brittle nature of 3d printed parts.
  12. had something similar could be a permissions problem give this a try https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/2249906
  13. Same here we had two of those ended up just using a mak key.
  14. i think we installed an older version of rsat tools for 1511 that worked when we had the same problem, i can share via dropbox or fileshare if you want to try it.
  15. untick pxe under distribution point properties in administration > server and site system roles. this should uninstall wds. then rename d:\remoteinstall to something else and check it isn't shared. then go back and tick the pxe box again.
  16. You may need to contact Microsoft Volume Licensing support (0800 9179016) to have them generate they keys, Microsoft told us they don't automatically generate them, they did it over the phone and they then appeared with all the other license keys.
  17. Another option would be to enable the policy for staff computers via gpo and then prevent staff users logging onto student computers via the log on locally right also stops the kids guessing teachers passwords and accessing things they shouldn't
  18. Just in case anyone is using applocker and having problems the exe's being created in the %appdata/temp folder, you can create a text file called tempdir.txt in the gm8 folder within program files and put a path in it to where you would like it to be i.e c:\GameMakerTemp do not put a \ at the end of the path though. see here GameMaker Manual - GameMaker.info for full instructions its right at the bottom of the page under "other settings" you can then manage this in applocker.
  19. We went from isam to sims. Isams was a complete pain unless you're good at sql.
  20. Overnet here too
  21. Might be worth mounting the vhdx in diskmanager at least should rule out a corrupt vhdx file. Once you have dismounted the disk try adding it again. Failing that you could try using microsofts virtual machine converter to virtualise the physical server and see if that works.
  22. Nutanix are OK, however it is not easily upgradable and would need to be replaced as a whole unit when the time came, basic support on ours was £8000 p/a to start with (that's just office hours mon-fri and next day on site)
  23. have you tried setting the lacp on the switch as passive?
  24. No problem glad it arrived safely :-)
  25. Assuming there are overnight backups of the sims server you could restore from that. You would lose the days changes in sims though so choose whichever is the lesser of two evils.
