  1. I'm afraid to report that now that all our students are back and have tested the new extension, it's not working, and we are facing the same issues as before. Performance in Edge is really, really slow. We've had to roll back to version 142 of Edge, which seems to work much better. We have reopened the ticket with Smoothwall. Is everyone else having the same issue? Seems to only be on lower spec devices which have the issue
  2. We rolled the verison of Edge back to 142 from the latest, which resolved the issue. Apparently Smoothwall have released a new version of Smoothwall Cloud FIlter which helps the performance in Edge. So far from testing it seems stable, but our students are away on holidays so unable to test fully. Release notes on the new version of the Edge extension for July mention fixing the issue with slow browsing. Which version of Edge and Clould Filter are you using?
  3. We have installed the latest version of the Edge (147.0.3912.72) which apparently resolves the issue but we are still facing issues. Has anyone got anywhere with support? We have very angry parents who are paying for the 1:1 devices which are basically unusable...
  4. Glad to know its not just us! Ours is with third-line at the moment, so hopefully there will be movement on this soon as we have some very unhappy students, parents and teachers...
  5. Its a strange one, we are having the issue with all of our Surface Go devices, but we have Surface Pro devices for our older students which seem to be fine. But outside of web browsing the device is fast and snappy, so not sure if its due to the lower spec as I'd expect the rest of the OS to be sluggish if it was struggling.
  6. We already tested this and uninstalled the Smoothwall Cloud Filter extension on a couple of devices and as soon as we did, it was working perfectly so we know its related to the extension. We logged a ticket last week and have escalated to third-line support , but I came across this thread and was interested to find out if/what was resolution was.
  7. Were you able to solve this issue? We have experienced this for the past month and the student devices (Surface Go) are almost unusable with many parents complaint as they are on a 1:1 lease. It takes 20 minutes for the page to load, and even after this web browsing is very very slow.
  8. Alex has been very useful in trying to resolve the issue, but sadly not yet been resolved. We have noticed that when we have slow speeds throughout the day, there are always 2 cores running at 100% throughout the duration of the slow speeds, and when speeds improve, these cores settle down. Have you seen that before? We are using HTOP to monitor the usage. Sorry to reach out on here again, but we are getting real pressure from senior management to get this resolved. Also worth noting that the past 3 weeks has been fine as we have been on easter break so low usage on the internet.
  9. Our RAM usage always seems high:
  10. Thank you, the ticket number is 585485 We have had ups and downs this morning, one minute getting 10mbps then moments later getting 400/500mbps. Plugged into the router and speeds are normal We've not tried anything in cli yet
  11. Thank you for the reply, we're already on Maiden I have checked the Kernal log, nothing standing out, only a few martian destination errors. When we have the issue, rebooting the box doesn't seem to resolve it, after a bit of time it just seems to speed up. But I have noticed we have slower speeds when we have lots of users online
  12. We are facing a strange issue with our Smoothwall; we seem to be having drops in internet speeds at random times throughout the day. Our speeds are usually around 700/800mbps but will often drop to 10mbps or even lower. We believe it's Smoothwall as if I plug a laptop straight into both our HP Routers while we are experiencing the issues, the speeds are fast as expected. Also if I connect to a network we have that does not go through the Smoothwall the speeds are also fine. Smoothwall have provided some support, but has not found the issue and are suggesting it may be something on our network, which I'm not convinced as we have proved not going though Smoothwall fixes the problem... Any suggestions on what to do next?
  13. We have student 1-1 devices which we manage via Intune. We block apps via App Locker. Our computing students use Visual Studio for their coding projects and need to be able to debug but this is being blocked. Has anyone found a way to get Visual Studio working with App Locker?
  14. For the past month, we have been having issues with Google Workspace staff members using the traffic layer and Google Street View in Google Maps. The traffic layer is greyed out and when dragging the yellow man to the road for street view it just doesn't do anything. Has anyone else experienced this issue recently? I have contacted Google but they are not very helpful and say that Maps is not supported under the SLA. Nothing has changed with our settings, all staff have been marked as 'Over 18' and it works perfectly fine if the staff member signed out of their Workspace account
  15. Thanks for the advice, this is how I wanted to transition to OneDrive as it limited the chance of something going wrong, but the feedback was that staff don't have time to go through their files and copy them to OneDrive.... So I've been doing some research and decided on the following: 1. Inform staff of a weekend where their data will be migrated so any new files created on that weekend won't be caught on the migration. 2. On the said weekend, migrate staff data using SharePoint Migration Tool. 3. Set User GPO to Redirect folders to %userprofile%\OneDrive\etc which will redirect Desktop, Documents, Pictures, Videos and Music. I was initially going to use the built-in OneDrive KFM, but this is a computer policy and our users use multiple machines so we wanted to roll it out gradually. It also means that only Desktop, Pictures and Documents would be backed up, but Videos and Music would be local and as each member of staff does not use the same device this could cause issues with losing files in those local locations.
