1. Good morning, I have been tasked with running a report from Office 365 to see how many emails were sent and received by a particular account in Office 365 for each academic year from 2018-2019. So I have 2 questions: 1. Does Microsoft even have data that stretches that far back? 2. How do I go about retrieving this data (or as much of it as possible)? The basic reports on the admin portal only show data up to 180 days and Azure AD isn't showing me much either. Would rather not use a third party tool if possible. Don't mind PowerShell. I am Global Admin on the tenant if that helps. Thank in advance. Regards, Harry
2. We are now losing students controlled assessment work, can anyone help???
3. Morning everyone, We have recently made the move to Office 2016 from Office 2010 at our school, and for the most part the migration has gone fine. However now I am getting reports of student losing work. Upon investigation I have realised that students are now able to save office documents to "Network Locations" in My Computer. This is a location in their local C drive profiles that get automatically cleared on a weekly basis. They should be saving to their home network drive. Their home drives are already set as the default save location in the office GPOs. I have a screenshot attached to show what I mean. I have had a look around our office GPOs however can't see where I can block this. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks. Regards Harry
4. Hm... I am a tad lost here. The KMS host i have set up, i activated using the server 2012 R2 KMS key found on my VLSC portal. When i used a windows 10 KMS key, it won't activate, obviously. I have scoured the web but so far cannot find the "Windows 10 & Server 2012 Key" that was mentioned earlier that activates windows 10 and below.
5. Okay i might give that approach a go...thank you!
6. No I haven't...never had it on the old KMS server either, how does it work? A brief google mention the ADK which I've only used as part of WDS/MDT??
7. So use Active Directory based active directory rather than KMS? Ive attached another image to clarify. Thanks!
8. Yes, the KMS service set that up automatically. I have attached a screenshot to check it's okay. I think my problem is what product keys i'm using. I need one for multiple OS's and multiple Office versions, is this actually possible? It must be!!
9. Morning everyone, I've got a major issue with KMS here. Until last week, we had all Windows 7 clients (with Office2010) activated via KMS on a server 2008R2 DC. Well this summer we have rebuilt both our DC's and upgraded them to server 2012 R2. I am trying to set KMS up and it's not working My aim is to have a KMS server which will activate Windows 7 and 10 (as we plan to roll that out over the year) as well as Office 2010 and 2016 - which we also plan to roll out. Is there a KMS key which will activate Windows 7 and 10, and another to activate office 2010 and 2016? I know this is a big ask however we can't be the first school to do this... Thanks in advance. Regards Harry
10. I wasn't aware that secondary schools can apply for a free PRO license...
11. Just had a look at our permissions, and we have the top level folders as read only, however subject folders have write access (special permissions), could this be why it isn't working?
12. I am using FQDN in HAP+ drive config. We are still having problems and now more staff are starting to notice.
13. Has anybody tried sketchup 2016 yet?
14. Right, I have been a bit of an idiot. Our deputy head here had a problem with his PC so i reimaged it. When it was done, he logged on and asked me where all his documents were. Turns out he was saving to the local C drive instead of his network home drive. he apparently had 18+ months worth of lessons plans and Ofsted data and he needs it urgently. I have run some recovery tools and managed to get back 13GB of word documents/powerpoints/PDFs however none of them open. Is there any ideally free software which can repair the broken files? Any help is massively appreciated. Kind Regards Harry P.S; i know I should have checked his local profile first...
15. Everyone can log in fine, and access home drives. Just not the shared drives. I've tried both domain\administrator and just administrator for the username but it doesn't make a difference.
16. Interesting, i have just gone into the HAP AD config and it has a cross. I have retyped the administrator password but it still comes up with the cross. I have attache a screenshot. Harry
17. Hi Nick, Thank you for the tips. When i check AD groups from your first suggestion all i get is a jumble of words, not sure if this is right?
Token1":null,"Token2":"System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryServicesCOMException (0x8007052E): The user name or password is incorrect.\u000d\u000a\u000d\u000a at System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry.Bind(Boolean throwIfFail)\u000d\u000a at System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry.Bind()\u000d\u000a at System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry.get_AdsObject()\u000d\u000a at System.DirectoryServices.PropertyValueCollection.PopulateList()\u000d\u000a at System.DirectoryServices.PropertyValueCollection..ctor(DirectoryEntry entry, String propertyName)\u000d\u000a at System.DirectoryServices.PropertyCollection.get_Item(String propertyName)\u000d\u000a at System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement.PrincipalContext.DoLDAPDirectoryInitNoContainer()\u000d\u000a at System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement.PrincipalContext.DoDomainInit()\u000d\u000a at System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement.PrincipalContext.Initialize()\u000d\u000a at System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement.PrincipalContext.get_QueryCtx()\u000d\u000a at System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement.Principal.FindByIdentityWithTypeHelper(PrincipalContext context, Type principalType, Nullable`1 identityType, String identityValue, DateTime refDate)\u000d\u000a at System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement.UserPrincipal.FindByIdentity(PrincipalContext context, String identityValue)\u000d\u000a at HAP.AD.User.get_UserP()\u000d\u000a at HAP.AD.User.Authenticate(String username, String password)\u000d\u000a at HAP.AD.API.UserGET(String username, String password)","Token2Name":null
When i do the JSON debugging, when i access the shared drive that isnt allowing uploading, i get this below... Kind Regards Harry
18. We use groups for permissions, but it still isn't working.
19. I've got this problem as well. The suggestion above to check groups doesn't work for me.
20. Hi, we use Movieplus x6 here and we have just had this problem arise! Have you managed to find a fix? I phoned Serif support earlier and they asked me to check images are below 8000x8000 resolution, which they were so nothing on that front. Regards Harry
21. Hey Guys, We use GPOs to manage google chrome on our network. We currently have the Downloads folder set to the users home drives. However we want to change it so chrome asks where you want to save it each time you download something. Is there a GPO for this and what is it? Thanks for your help. Regards Harry.
22. Thanks for that, I just wanted to clarify but I will sign up later and see how it goes.
23. Hi All, I have notice the Meraki Systems Manager MDM is free for up to 100 devices. I am thinking about getting it however we don't use meraki wifi points. Do i need a meraki WiFi system in order to use SM? Or can it just install on a server and we role it out to wifi clients? Kind Regards Harry
