1. We get something similar but trying to get our lea to open ports is torture. I created another ssid that has less filtering and firewall rules applied to it. I do the initial connection to that. Once connected it downloads the profile and activates then we turn off that ssid and it joins the correct ssid and we enforce wi-fi whitelisting.
2. It definitely going to sleep not just the other screen taking over? Is picture duplicated?
3. This help? https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/6350036?hl=en
4. Maybe the meraki rules are geared towards US domains so that's why they're not working?
5. I'm sure most comapnies will just post a statement on their website rather than replying to individual emails. https://www.educationcity.com/sites/default/files/Cloud_Software_Services_for_Schools_Checklist_EducationCity_Ltd.pdf This statement will be updated before GDPR deadline to reflect new legislation.
6. Is this what you were getting at? Hello Andrew, Thanks for your reply and for sharing the .notebook files. The timer.notebook file does contain .js files which is a file type that is blocked in Gmail. If you rename timer.notebook to timer.zip you should be able to open the file to examine it’s contents. There are .js files found in the folders html > src1 > js and html > src1 >lib that are contained in the timer.notebook file. Unfortunately there is no way to whitelist the .notebook files or any of the blocked file types. Any .notebook files that contain any of the following blocked file types will always be blocked in Gmail .ADE, .ADP, .BAT, .CHM, .CMD, .COM, .CPL, .EXE, .HTA, .INS, .ISP, .JAR, .JS, .JSE, .LIB, .LNK, .MDE, .MSC, .MSI, .MSP, .MST, .NSH .PIF, .SCR, .SCT, .SHB, .SYS, .VB, .VBE, .VBS, .VXD, .WSC, .WSF, .WSH For reference please visit https://support.google.com/mail/answer/6590?hl=en. Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any further queries or concerns. Sincerely, Google Cloud Support
7. Ok had a bit of time to do some testing. If I include one of the new interactive timers from smart the file is then blocked. Google said it may contain java script so the file is blocked.
8. Might be worth raising a call with Meraki as it's their rules that aren't working here.
9. Is this what you have applied for your byod SSID? Meraki support can also help if the rules aren't working.
10. Is this what you have applied for your byod SSID?
11. What does it say in event viewer? Also there are a few pre reqs that will cause the install to fail if not present. https://support.smarttech.com/docs/software/notebook/notebook-17/en/installing-and-maintaining/computer-requirements/default.cshtml
12. I've not seen any of the files being zipped? These are just regular Smart Notebook files with just text in. I've had no reports of any being blocked recently either.
13. Better late then never!
14. Are there any silent switches that can be used with the acer bios package so you can deploy it? We deploy the dell bios using RM CC4 and just add the silent switches that dell specify.
15. Is this any help? https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/configuration/configure-windows-10-taskbar
16. This is really bad for consumers and think this story will get bigger with possible legal ramifications. There will have been plenty of people that would have purchased new phones based on the performance dip they have suffered. Can you imagine if Intel or AMD implemented something like this to PCs via a Microsoft update. It would be world wide news. Maybe somewhere in apple T & Cs they have themselves covered but if they haven't...
17. We use Scomis for all my schools and we're in Portsmouth. Support is excellent.
18. Maybe Microsoft assume you've made a mistake by wanting to block one of their products so over rule you!
19. It has gotten a lot better lately with loads of new features that really are making a difference. We used Apple Configurator prior to moving to the SM and I'd pay anything to get away from that!
20. Ah yes that's never a good position to be in!
21. Do ubiquiti do MDM now as well?
22. That's a tad harsh. Schools have different budgets and there are a number of other choices that come into play. For us we have Meraki Switches, Wi-Fi and SM. I manage multiple sites so having everything in the cloud is a great advantage, plus the ability to manage everything through one interface is a massive plus.
23. They are good switches for free and are POE ;-) You don't owe Meraki anything they give away thousands of them!
24. As long as you are open and honest with them they are ok. We are Meraki customers now but initially weren't and got a free AP and Switch with no real hassle.
25. Are you suggesting that you create fake credentials!!!Must be a GDPR fail there somewhere ;-)
