Slightly off topic but...This thread really does demonstrate the problems that GDPR will face. Look at the range of responses on this thread. Apologies if I missed it but has anyone been able to point to a link on an official website the definitively states what the correct action should be? Does the information differ from LA to LA and from Academy chain etc? Is that why we have such a range of responses?

We did this a few years a go. We set an enforcement date in Google apps and passed fliers out, put posters up, emailed instruction etc etc with info on how to set up. Still had a load of people that never did a thing and got locked out. Some of my schools we did together on inset days or staff meetings.

What is it that the parent would be seeing? Surely it would be just pupils walking around in school. Wouldn't they have just seen that when they walked into school? Couldn't they see this if they stood outside and looked through the fence? I could understand if the pupils in the background were doing something that was inappropriate and that's why you couldn't show it.

That may be the case but as with any device that accesses sensitive data you would want that device to be fully patched and not running and old OS that was vulnerable. Just best practice advice in general.

There may be numerous occasions when they might be on trips etc where there is no connection and they would need local storage until they reconnected.

Ipad mini pricing seems to be higher than before. It was cheaper to buy the 9.7" 128gb than the Ipad mini 128gb. The new education ones may be the cheapest model to go for.

Whatever device you buy just make sure it has a long supported life cycle. These devices will have lots of pupil information on them so it's important they are secure. Iconnect another nursery app only support the last three versions of any OS. Storage is the other issue with lots of videos and photos being stored on the devices. Device needs a decent fast camera. We have ours managed via MDM and recently bought 128gb Ipads.

Yes we have used this method on many old laptops and it works fine. Lots of users don't shut down the laptop these days so it won't prompt them every time they need to use the laptop etc. You can also change the settings for usb drives once your doing this so encryption is enforced on those as well. That's what we have done for staff laptops that are used exclusively at home. We've also paid for extra licences for our cloud managed AV so we have greater visibility, and adds in some web filtering of malicious sites to help with protection against data loss.

Amazon have fake griffin ones available. Some suppliers may also have old stock etc you could get.

I've just come back from walking round the school putting one of these on every monitor!

I work Monday-Friday 8-4 across eight schools. I'm contracted for 52 weeks and work 40hrs a week. Last year I did over 400 hours extra from home. This was mostly work that would have been disruptive do do in school so was done out of hours. I've used this as a bargaining tool for a pay rise and for increased time off.

I'm in Portsmouth and our apple vpp account won't pull in any search results in chrome, but wok in IE. Very odd.
