  1. Do they sell to anyone or do you have to be a business? She is wanting the Sims 4 yes. Actually, I forgot to factor into the equation that she is a 20 year old girl. The Lenovo isn't aesthetically pleasing enough for her... I told her if she wants a decent laptop for £200 she'll probably have to compromise either on performance or appearance but...
  2. That actually looks pretty good! I hadn't thought about refurbished - is more secure than second hand but without spending a fortune. Thanks!
  3. So my younger sister is wanting a new laptop. She only has £200 though - I think she is better buying used than new for this price. She wants to be able to play The Sims on it so it needs to be reasonably decently spec'ed. Desktop isn't really an option for her currently due to her current living arrangements. Thought I'd ask here if anyone is selling anything?
  4. This looks good but for what the purpose is it's a completely impractical idea @spend_idea. Show them that demo video and they can see that they'd have to manually insert each booklet. A total waste of time for the staff member, who may change their mind about printing to the repro room very quickly when they realise that manually inserting each booklet is the alternative. I agree with @plexer - add the printer to their machine and they can print direct from there.
  5. How big is your site? How many staff? That's very strange, booklet makers are really expensive - she would still have to print to the photocopier in the reprographics room so it wouldn't solve the problem.
  6. Only thing I can think of is something like this: Xerox ASF100 ASF 100 Paper Folder Stapler Bookletmaker booklet maker making But I think you'd have to 'pre-print' the booklet, it's just a folding and stapling machine. Depends on the reasons why you want this, but might be wiser geting a photocopier with a booklet maker finisher. Would be a lot faster and probably more precise.
  7. Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind - old (2004 I think) film, but my absolute favourite. Watched it the other night - it's on Netflix now actually. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnSgSe2GzDc
  8. So this has been an ongoing problem for quite a while now. The first instance was a member of staff who wasn't able to print to his usual printer. It had always worked before as usual. When he printed, the document didn't even leave the computer (no white box in the system tray saying it had sent) although it appeared to work as normal from the document. The same with test pages. Other printers worked for him and other people could print to this printer as usual. All the printers are networked and mapped via script. Eventually I changed the driver for the printer (all HP printers - can't remember now but something on the universal driver 5 to 5.0.5 or similar) and the problem was resolved. But this keeps happening randomly around the school. Currently there are about 3 computers out of a group of 10, identically built machines which are having this problem, but the other 7 are fine. I don't particularly want to have to change the driver each time as there is no reason it shouldn't work - it always has done in the past. Plus the last time I had to do this it solved the problem for one machine, but created it on another. Has anyone seen this before and has any idea of a solution?
  9. I just had to do it on a laptop - find the browserchoice.exe in system32 and change ownership to your account - then give yourself full control and I was able to delete it that way. Not sure about how that translates to a tablet though?

    Path

I've never had this problem - unless you tell it to do that can't see why they would. I love Path, it is fantastic - works really nicely, clean, ad-free etc. but unless any more friends join it, it's no fun. (Have my mum, sisters and a friend on there currently) - I really wish more people would use it though as I prefer it to Facebook.
  11. Show the older students (our sixth form do this) how to set up email on their phones - that way there is no effort in checking their email as they are always on their phones anyway.
  12. We are using IE9 - only affecting some users though. Not sure where to start with this one. User has been having the problem since yesterday. When printing an email it opens the print preview window and allows to select a printer as usual. However, when the print arrives, it is just a blank sheet of paper.
  13. We have a handful of laptops which aren't on the domain. They run Windows 7. Half of them show the options of user at the logon screen - and we have a guest account on them with no password (use for assemblies etc.) The other half want usernames typing in, and won't let me set a blank password for guest. It's not the end of the world, but it is pretty frustrating. Does anyone know a solution? Thanks.
  14. Thanks @win - I have cheated a little bit by telling it to print direct rather than spooling given only 2 people use the printer. I have checked all of what you mentioned and all seems to be correct.
  15. Bit of an odd one. A HP M401DN printer which is networked. The printer has just been moved office so likely I have made a mistake somewhere in the set up. When anyone prints to it, the jobs pause immediately. Right clicking the print job and telling it to resume solves the problem and it prints normally. But not sure why it's pausing initially. It is using HP Universal driver PCL5. I've tried PCL6 but no difference. Thanks in advance of advice!
  16. Make sure speakers are plugged in - sounds ridiculous but you can't play YouTube in IE without them connected. (Adverts play fine though - incredible!)
  17. Oh thank you!! The YouTube link is so handy, I couldn't find it on there.
  18. Hm, reinstalled it and it works now! Very odd.
  19. ~A teacher right now is getting the error that Silverlight needs to be installed when trying to use a website video which requires it. But when I use the admin account, it's fine. Silverlight is installed and runs no problem.
  20. I need to save a short flash video for use in a big meeting where there is no internet access. It is on the AQA website; AQA | Policy | GCSE and A-level changes | New GCSEs But I am really struggling to save it - any ideas?
  21. That's a good idea Andrew - do they give a 'certificate' or something as well? (Would be nice for the charity wall). Mark, just had a look at their website and looks like they won't even collect toners they don't recycle though?
  22. I know this has been asked before, even by myself. But all the toner recycling companies want things sorting etc. I just want to bung all our empties in a box and wave them off. Too many and I really don't want to faff about. Anyone know of a company like that?
  23. Anyone know where I can get one of these? They are really handy little machines. eBuyer and Maplin don't have them anymore. Or does anyone know of a similar, small, product?
  24. Well we are moving into Apple territory and need a decent solution for managing iPads. Thinking going down the Apple MDM route is the most sensible as it's all with the same company then - or isn't it the best? Not sure still. I have borrowed a Macbook temporarily to trial on, but from what I now gather, we'll be needing a mac server - Would this be appropriate? Mac mini - Buy Mac mini Online - Apple Store (UK)
