  1. So we've had so many arguments with this software - it constantly corrupts files etc. and we have decided to source something more appropriate. We originally bought this as it was recommended by the exam board. A student has recommended Unity or Blender, but I need to look into these. Does anyone have any recommendations of a good animation software appropriate for up to GCSE level? Thanks!
  2. You're right @elsiegee40 ! We were closed Thursday and Friday. Back in now though, but it's still white over and SO much snow about with icey pavements now. - - - Updated - - - You're right @elsiegee40 ! We were closed Thursday and Friday. 3. Just going to bump this now every is back from BETT - meant to do it this morning, but may re-bump tomorrow morning if no one minds :-)
  4. That is so kind Elsie! I would love one, I never get within a rocks throw of BETT. I'll PM you now :-)
  5. It's like Narnia
  6. Oh is it BETT this week? I hadn't realised. Yes it's still snowing here too. Bit heavier than it was actually too.
  7. It's so snowy here - it's really beautiful actually. We had a late start though and still many staff haven't been able to get in. I do know that any computer problems today can be blamed on the snow though
  8. Hmm they say 'What stops someone from copying your card? With most printers… absolutely nothing. With Magicard printers… HoloKote.' If someone was that desperate, couldn't they just buy a Magicard printer and proceed to copy it? Not sure why they would mind. Thanks though - not sure the holokote is really necessary for us now I've seen it.
  9. Thanks @localzuk So I'm am stuck between the Magicard Enduro + SmartCard - Your ID Specialist - £699 SPECIAL OFFER Dual Sided Enduro 3633-9021 (dual sided) and the Evolis primacy double sided SmartCard - Your ID Specialist - Evolis Primacy Double Sided Card Printer PM1H0000RD These both seem very similar except the Magicard adds 'holograms'. The price would suggest that the Evolis is superior in someway though - can anyone see something that I'm missing here? I think the ribbons are a little more expensive on the Magicard, that could be the reason perhaps.
  10. So to use MiFare cards in future, do I need a particular machine which will print on them, or do I just buy MiFare cards and put them through a standard card printer. Then encode them on something else? Excuse the many questions, I just don't want to spend hundreds of pounds on a machine which will be redundant in a few years due to not having forethought.
  11. Another question. I see many card printers with 'Duplex'. Is this necessary? Unless you're printing thousands, could you just re-feed a printed card to print on the other side on a 'simplex' printer? Just put each one through twice essentially?
  12. Please move this post Admins if it's in the wrong section. On Tapatalk and not so easy to navigate, can't find a more appropriate section right now! Does anyone have a screen for an Acer Aspire 6530? Mine broke about a year ago and it's hooked up to an external monitor instead. But now that's not working (suspect the VGA connection on the laptop). Don't want to spend a lot as the whole thing is on its way out (2 USB's broken / not working as well) but I just use it for TV so reluctant to replace the whole laptop. Thanks if anyone does!
  13. That's reassuring. What exactly is MiFare? How would be get the cards made for that? (Does it even use cards?)
  14. Is there a way to display information on a schedule? For example, lunch menus. We have a 3 week menu plan and it would be great it, between the end of lunch one day and lunch the next, it showed the correct menu. But I don't want to be editing it every day. Could it link to excel or something to pull the information? But then the presentation of that wouldn't be great I imagine?
  15. Oh dear - how would I know which is more sensible here then? As not sure which company we'd be going with for a copier solution.
  16. So we are considering getting one. Finally. (I've been after one for years!) I have had a Databac SP25 plus with IAT magnetic stripe recommended. Looks good and I've had a quote from the company. They wanted £400 for the software but I've been told you can get it a LOT cheaper. So now just want to check my options of other companies etc. before we commit. Would like a printer which does two sided, full colour and a magnetic strip printer for use with follow me printing (when we get that - just want it to be future proofed). Any recommendations?
  17. We are 2:1:2 here too. It's interesting to see how many people have changed to 2:2:1 though - certainly food for thought. Not sure about the concentration levels here in an afternoon as I'm not in the lessons very often to be able to tell.
  18. Not a chance here. They are all able to print to central photocopiers (which they should be doing first anyway - we can but try!) so if something runs out, they can print there instead. We don't keep stock of ink either as if the printer breaks we are stuck with spares. Most printers are networked so we get an alert when they are at 10% ink capacity and can order a new one. For local printers, we just rely on the staff to report it running low.
  19. Do you often give out prizes for this? Sounds quite good and must get the kids really involved but does it get pricey?
  20. I also sent a PM - thanks man.
  21. Me either @arwen :-( boohoo.
  22. I have voted no but I actually do have one at work - mainly for the wrist rest attached to it. However, the mouse-mat is kind of redundant.
  23. Add me - I love Civ V - Novalee5 is my Steam name.
  24. Oh no...I can't afford to look...no money and way too busy to be playing games...but...maybe just a peak...
