For a personal laptop. The cable is faulty connecting the screen to the motherboard, causing the screen to flicker or sometimes not work at all. Does anyone have one from a scrapped laptop, or know where I can buy one? Thanks!

Brilliant! Thanks guys, worked a treat.

So we've been using Xibo successfully for some time now. But this morning all the clients have decided to tell us 'Navigation to the Webpage was cancelled' where powerpoints are usually displayed. Also, the powerpoints are opening in Powerpoint seperately as well. They don't usually. Can't remember how it was set up now! Anyone got a quick fix for this? We recently updated to IE10 so perhaps that's affecting it, although that wasn't done since yesterday when they were all fine. I think it's something to do with file association but can't quite remember. Thanks.

We use WinPIM - not sure how good it is or isn't though as haven't had any feedback either way.

Good luck! Have fun at your new job!

Oh dear... (thanks for the link though!)

Voted and confirmed. What is the advert for Annie in cinemas???

Same here but I would say I have about 5-10% peripheral vision (essentially just don't use it at all unless my other eye is covered and even then even seeing text would be impossible, never mind reading it). Feel like I am missing out on 3D though! I didn't realise the first time I saw a 3D film, (Clash of the Titans I think) and my OH was ooh-ing and ahh-ing about how amazing it was - I just thought it was just rubbish 3D until I realised I can't see 3D haha.

We use a stand alone machine (previously was a laptop but was very old) - and transfer work via USB.

Ooo that's really spooky!!! People say the 'old' block of our school is haunted, but never heard any specific stories like that one.

New Star Wars Film Title Confirmed: Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Novalee replied to 6Foot2's topic in General Chat
I'm not a Star Wars fan - not because I dislike it, simply that I've never watched really watched it. (Actually, I did see episode one in the cinema for my friends 14/15 birthday (her choice) don't remember it though!). The name sounds just the same as the others I think? I can't remember what they are, but I feel like this could be one of them. -
Ah - ours is version 3. I'll take a look to see if it specifies.

We have this as a network install. It works on the remaining XP machine (and did on all the others before they were upgraded), but not on Window's 7. On Windows 7 it loads the Splash screen and doesn't move past there. Same for Numbershark. Does anyone know if it's supported on Windows 7?

Thanks for this - but it won't play. I think it's our set up for some reason. Yesterday it briefly worked whilst I was logged in as an admin account, but now it won't. Just keeps saying movie not loaded. Struggling to update Flash too... :-/

Yes please, @fairm010 we just have a blank corner at the moment so would be nice to get something on there.

*bump*

Same as us. And if you wanted different displays on each screen, you can do that too.

Just had the problem again with another computer (which has done it before). Tried this but it hasn't worked sadly. It's getting really frustrating! *edit* ignore this - different issue!

Speed of Sky fibre optic for home
Novalee replied to Novalee's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Thanks everyone. I called Sky last night (had been waiting to do a speed test via a wire but didn't bother in the end). The answered incredibly fast (I was shocked) and ran a line test which came as a fail so they're sending out an engineer in the next 72 hours who will call and let me know what's going on. They've also suspended billing for 5 days as they can't charge once they know there's a fault. She said the absolute minimum I should get is 15Mbps (I guess that's their 'promise'?). We've not had over 10 for a few months now which is frustrating, didn't think to call until it got to 2! -
Speed of Sky fibre optic for home
Novalee replied to Novalee's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Line Rate - Upstream (Kbps):8349 Line Rate - Downstream (Kbps):25457 That is a copy and paste. I should add my machine is wireless connected. I will dig out a long cable tomorrow and do another speed test with through the wire but... I just did another a moment ago and it was 2.73Mbps... :-/ Yes we have the 'up-to' 38Mbps package but we do live in a small town so I don't expect to reach that. However...!!! -
So for a good while now, maybe a year? we have been with Sky fibre optic. It doesn't seem up to much to be honest. Just done a speed test and it's come out as 6.27Mbps - download and similar upload. But that isn't unusual, it sometimes gets up to 9 ish but it's not usual. I know the fibre only goes to the 'cabinet' nearest us etc. but still, can't I expect something a little faster than this? I almost wonder if it's worth paying for fibre at all, maybe standard broadband would be the same (can't remember what we were getting speedwise on that). Would changing providers have any impact?

I bought the new Sims game the other week to try out. And it's made me very angry with EA. They have missed out key features for the sole purpose of being able to flog an expansion pack. The Sims 2 and a weather expansion pack, the Sims 3 had a weather expansion pack the Sims 4...has no weather - cue release of weather expansion pack in however many months. After releasing as an expansion pack for the last two base games, it really ought to be added as part of the base game by now. There is also no toddler life stage - which was always part of the base game previously. Cue 'family something or other' expansion pack.

So we usually have BBC news streaming on our digital signage. It's a bit unreliable and doesn't work at all at the moment, add to that that we don't have the sign on (there aren't subtitles) and it's a bit of a waste of time. What might be nice is a language screencast or something - why not teach the kids Cantonese whilst they're walking about or something (or any language!). Does anyone know where I can access something like this for free? Or something of a similar idea.

After years of being a bit crammed in, our new office is here..
Novalee replied to Abaddon's topic in General Chat
Wow nice!!! -
We have distribution groups for each department, support staff, teaching staff, year groups etc. Recently had a push on people using the correct group and they were all emailed a list. So now we get emails sent to (for example) KS3 tutors, Teaching staff and all staff - with a handful of staff copied in - just to cover it... can't seem to win!!
