  1. This PC has had failed hard-drives before but it's current game is checking the disk at every boot-up. It boots, loads the Windows icon, then 'checks' the disk - then loads normally. It's really frustrating - I can't figure out why. It doesn't appear to completing the check which could be why it is doing it every time. Anyone know a way around this? Thanks. Edit - Just spotted the typo in the title but can't change it!
  2. Yes. But when I use the boot menu as well it doesn't see it. But it is fully connected.
  3. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Got fed up with this Revo so started on another machine while deciding what to do. Some problems with it booting apparantly. Plug it in, turned it on - same error as the Revo! SMH
  4. Huh - strange enough Windows updates seem to sort it? Only applied about 12 of them but one of them solved it!
  5. Getting really frustrated with this now. Have just built two of these machines to Windows 7 without a problem. The third however...! It keeps saying this - there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to when - but it's after a reboot or start up. The only way I see to be able to get it to boot correctly is if I detach the battery from the motherboard. Has anyone seen this before? Really stumped - I have reinstalled it once already...!
  6. Thanks guys - also trying a full windows update - quite a few didn't go on last time due to the teacher needing to take it home half way through installation...!
  7. Strangest thing! I have an older laptop here (was shipped with Vista). Just reinstalled to Windows 7 last week. It boots up fine, loads up no problems but when I open the start menu and right click 'Computer' and try to open the 'Manage' option - the start menu crashes. It opens and closes as normal, but nothing highlights as you scroll over it and I get a 'ding' when I try to click on anything - it's almost like there is an error message up somewhere that I can't see. I can close and reopen the start menu fine, the rest of the laptop runs fine, but just the start menu is almost inactive. If I reboot, everything again runs fine. I can open anything on the start menu except the management console. It does however all work in safe mode. Really very confused! Anyone seen this before? (Hope this all makes sense?!?)
  8. Hope I've posted in the right section, mods please move if not! So on my outlook (desktop version) I use conversation view. Don't mind it too much. However I today have a 'conversation' which shows as 'Split conversation. Expand to see all items.' There are emails from two different people, completely unrelated to each other. Why are they showing in the same 'conversation'? Looking through the messages, neither person has been copied in on the others emails etc. unless they have been Bcc in and I don't know about it? (One of them is a manager so just want to know who is seeing those emails!!!)
  9. Haha that was on their April fools e-mail. I fell for it until I saw the 'i-ron' i-Ron - buy at Firebox.com I was very interested in the 'Grow your own chicken' Grow Your Own Chicken - buy at Firebox.com
  10. Work & Weekend Mugs - buy at Firebox.com I'd get both of these...
  11. Thanks for that Oaktech - I am taking a look on their website now.
  12. Yes you're probably right Pete.
  13. We usually use QC Supplies - but they merged with XMA on the first of April and neglected to mention that. So now have no log-on to the website for prices etc. and am a bit miffed, still waiting for a call back from 2 days ago... ...so does anyone have any suggestions of a cheap toner/ink supplier? We mainly have HP printers. (QC have been slacking on the biscuit front lately anyway...)
  14. Is this on the front panel? They are connected to the motherboard? Perhaps they were left unplugged to save the trouble of blocking them.
  15. Oh - it's 'me.' I will pop it round.
  16. I have a new Sky router - don't know which kind, but the 'deluxe' - they sent two by accident. Do you want that?
  17. Get the students to talk - I imagine the easiest way is to get the student who created it to shut it down. Someone will know who started it.
  18. Thanks Chris - wasn't sure if you were offering to animate for us then! I will take a look at it - is it fairly easy to roll out etc?
  19. So we are binning Crazytalk - too many problems with files corrupting and not opening with no explanations. Have been in touch with the company and they really don't seem to know either. However - the exam board does recommend Crazytalk. What does everyone else use? Anything we should avoid? Thanks.
  20. Just Y10 to Y13 here. Y7,8 and 9 are off. Not sure how many teachers are going to be in however...
  21. I have done that @LosOjos but I can't seen anything similar to 'boost input'. Thanks though :-) - - - Updated - - - I have done that @LosOjos but I can't seen anything similar to 'boost input'. Thanks though :-)
  22. I have bought a Plantronics headset for one of teachers to use speech to text. Just trying to get it going now but, unless I hold the microphone RIGHT next to my mouth, it doesn't pick up what I say. It sits by default a sensible distance away - clearly as by design on the manufacturer, but it's not practical to hold it right next to my face - plus you get quite a bad recording as well that way. Is there anything I can alter on my machine so it picks up the voice better? The headset has really good reviews so I imagine this can be resolved somehow? Thanks.
  23. @cromertech thanks - I am trying that now - how do I import it though? Have tried simply opening the html file in powerpoint but it just gives me a blank sheet. @abillybob - that would be great! If I can't do it this way would you mind?
  24. Does anyone have Acrobat XI? I believe it is able to convert from PDF to Powerpoint. I need a document converting and don't want to have to sign up to some website to do it. Thanks if you can!
