Not sure if anyone is still having problems with this. If you upgrade to Smart Notebook 11.3, there is a specific option in Smart Ink Settings that relates to Microsoft Office.

We only get a lag when starting to write using Smart Ink on the desktop. It takes a couple of seconds for the Smart Ink window to appear. Writing into Smart Notebook itself is fine, although there are other issues I'm going to post in a different thread.

Our Year 5s are using Audacity at this very moment. What problems are they having and which version are you using?

I avoid fast food chains like McDonald's, KFC, Dominoes, Subway, etc. In fact, the last time I was in a McDonald's was 1 April 2007. Bought 'food' (and I use the term loosely!) for friends who were helping me to move house. I'm not familiar with Byron's or their Burgerzilla but I agree with the sentiment. There is a great independent place near to where I live that started as Little Pizza Kitchen but has now rebranded as LPK. They do the most amazing pizzas with really interesting and good quality toppings. One of my favourites is the Popeye - topped with lemon spinach and quails eggs. Their burgers are great too. They've even got one called the Blag Mac. Not just pizzas and burgers though, they do a whole range of 'proper' meals too. Have a look at their current menu. Mmmmm!

That's a semi-regular one of mine - when I fancy a change from brown sauce. Speaking of which, I cooked cheese on toast last night then spread a little brown sauce on the top. It was only then that I remembered @nephilim's suggestion of putting the brown sauce on before putting it under the grill.

Our LEA uses Smoothwall and offers several options. Until last year, we went through a central proxy and had to contact the LEA with issues. We now have our own proxy in school, provided by the LEA, that I manage. There's also a kind of devolved option by which schools have limited control without actually having the hardware on their premises.

For me, it's the fact that I can order to my own specification and the fantastic customer service. For the head, it's the free 5-year warranty on the Broadleaf series, the ridiculously cheap 3-year extended warranty on the Thinbook - oh and the laser etching. EDIT - And - on topic - ICT Technician is only a tiny fraction of my titles. Others include photographer, web designer/developer/editor, music support, physical trainer, supply teacher and all round good egg!

I agree with you 100% @witch. I also think that quality vocational education and training should be more widely available way before the age of 18. By this point, many students will have become disenfranchised from education because of the academic emphasis. We also need a dedicated quality careers advice service rather than having the Business Secretary slagging off teachers for not knowing everything about everything.

But how do vocational skills and qualifications stand up when it comes to league tables of A*-C grades? School: "Our pupils leave school with real potential to become outstanding mechanics, plumbers, fabricators, hairdressers, builders and joiners." Government: "But how many achieved 10 or me A*-C grades at GCSE and A level?" OFSTED: "Unsatisfactory" The whole of the curriculum emphasis has been on achieving measurable academic targets for years. Labour even set a target for 50% of school leavers to attend university. Now Vince Cable slams teachers (not schools or LEAs!) for focussing on academia and not providing enough vocational advice. I'm not being funny, but how is a French teacher, for example, supposed to give advice to someone who wants to be a bricklayer?
