1. Get all the under 13 year olds off bluddy Facebook 2. Facebook has turned into crap anyway, my news feed is full of half naked women due to links that groups just SPAM out This argument is exactly the same as anything on the internet, If I wanted to watch a beheading, and Facebook stopped me - I would search Google for it, so where is the argument about Google... Its up to the user what they want to watch, but I agree - These things should be banned from Facebook. It is up to Facebook to enforce these policies and not parents etc - Because its called doing the right thing

Or installing them via a MDM. -
IIS Server with PHP and MySQL - Uses Windows Auth to grab student username, then does a lookup on MySQL to retrieve their timetable from SIMS (That has already been imported) - Notifications System to classes/groups like the Chess Club etc (Teachers can set these up and send them to kids) - Google Search with typeahead All built in house
-
I built a whole suite of PC and Network Management tools, the Devices tab runs through AD and grabs the devices, then uses WMI to update them, also pings them to check servers are online etc.

You cannot lock down the settings menu, you can not stop them from wiping the devices. It comes down to a classroom control issue, if you press that button you will be in detention etc

You cannot stop Mac creating those folders. They are like My Documents on Windows, they just exist. If students use GarageBand on the Mac, it will put all the files into their newly created "Music" folder. They need to have access to them! About your other question, I have no idea!

I built a little program that when a user logs in, it runs the EXE and parses all the data like PC Name, Username, Time/Date into a MySQL Database ("active users" and "logs"), when they log off it removes them from the "active users" table. I then built a small PHP page with a graph to show user logins at certain times, how many users logged in - multiple users logged in etc etc

Its way of handling memory is much better, its made our Squid much faster!

Silent Install/Push of Apps onto iPads
SovietRussia replied to wesleyw's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
iOS 7 brings support for this, if the device is "enrolled" into a MDM server, and if that server sends the App Install payload - It will install without User Interaction. Most MDMs are now catching up to support iOS 7, Meraki unofficially supports this (So there may be bugs etc). Profile Manager for OS X fully supports this. -
You can use URL Rewrite to do the request analysing and redirection based on URL (Add a new rule) (Reverse Proxy) (Set the inbound request IP - So the server to receive the requests) (Click okay) (Double click on the Rule and change the pattern)
