That makes a lot of sense, and I agree that she's powerful. I played a few matches as her yesterday and was surprised at what I was able to just neutralise. The fact that I managed to blow up pretty much the entire opposing team with her reactor overload more than once was also good fun (like... do people forget she can do that? I suppose it's quite hard to avoid if it's just thrown at you from around a corner.).

LGfLmail is indeed based on Office 365, but I'm not sure whether an account there is automatically a "full" Microsoft account.

I realise that this is only advice, but these two fall foul of my "don't tell people how to work" rule. I'd add a few others too: Use group email, and particularly all-staff email sparingly (assuming your groups aren't restricted so that only SLT, etc. can send to them) Keep use of emoji in professional communications to an absolute minimum, or do not use them at all. In longer emails, restate any action points or intended results at the bottom for clarity.

Google Fonts are free for any use - there's loads on there and you can just download and install.

Perhaps a teachable moment for them about how fonts aren't free?

My response to things like this is that school use is not personal use, and therefore we cannot use them unless it specifically states that we can (some fonts do allow non-commercial use). What do they want the fonts for?

Your network provider is wrong - best practice is that internal domains do not end with "made-up" TLDs like "local" or "internal", but are a subdomain of a domain you actually own (e.g. ad.school.whatever.sch.uk, or internal.school.whatever.blah). Having the AD domain the same as your public domain can cause issues, but they can be worked around. What is your AD domain name?

One bit of advice I would give is not to make it prescriptive if at all possible. Obviously some anti-patterns like storing things in Deleted Items are to be avoided, but I wouldn't say things like "it's recommended that you create folders to organise email" - some people don't like to work that way. I don't, I search for things if needed, and any emails that must be kept for whatever reason I save as files somewhere. Presenting the options of how people could make email more manageable and letting people choose if they wish might be worthwhile though. The same could be said for out-of-hours working. A guideline that says that staff shouldn't feel in any way obliged to read or respond to messages outside of school hours is entirely a good thing, but one that recommends against sending them is not IMO. EDIT: Beaten to it. This, absolutely.

And yet D.Va seems very popular / well liked, despite also potentially being a "lol weebs" character (I mean - young woman, Asian background, plugsuit, giant mecha, you can't fit many more anime tropes into a character. All she'd need is some psychological trauma and she'd fit right in with the Evangelion pilots!). No criticism intended, all the characters seem very well designed and have a lot of backstory which I intend to read!

Hanzo is the guy with the longbow, right? He still seems very (annoyingly) powerful from my brief play.

I've been out of the PC gaming world for a good while, but I was chatting with some of my more up-to-date colleagues yesterday and they recommended that I try Overwatch. For £17 I thought why not, and I had great fun last night playing as Mei (sp?) - freezing people and then shooting them in the head with an icicle. I also gave a fair few of the others a try, but I imagine like things such as Street Fighter it takes a while to learn each one. The annoying thing is that my PC is somewhat on its last legs, and I was thinking of just not replacing it and using my laptop. That may no longer be an option!

Never had it come up, but I would likewise try to avoid it. I know that's one reason why some companies use "[email protected]" rather than "[email protected]", but IMO those longer addresses are unwieldy (and you could still get dupes with common names). This is probably just me, but I would bend over backwards to avoid putting numbers in email addresses - I'd use a middle initial (if they had one) or some other disambiguator. At one school we had a (names changed to examples, but the similarity was along these lines) - Alyssa Smith and Alexa Smith. We all mutually agreed on "axsmith@" for Alexa, and "aysmith@" for Alyssa, so it was obvious who was who. Given that one of them was in a safeguarding role, it was important that the addresses were completely unambiguous. Helped that they both started at the same time, didn't help that neither had a middle name to use. Broke all manner of my scripts that relied on a certain username pattern, but that was good as I had to improve them!! Correct - it's also pointless. Why make people type dots?

eBay is great for printer spares - there are a fair few IT reclamation/recycling companies that sell through there. I've bought all sorts of bits without issue for years.

Public roads? On a more serious note, if both schools are on the same ISP then some sort of inter-site routing should be possible. Failing that then yes, a point-to-point microwave link can work.

That's a good idea - we have prefixes for various things (e.g. "Software: BlahProduct XP 2000", "Branding: College", "Config: XYZ bug workaround").

This is what we do. I made some laminated strips with the details on that also have info about filtering and logging. Reception hand them out when someone asks for the details. If someone asks me directly, I just make sure to tell them.

Excellent! I'm always offering to automate things for my partner. Unfortunately her job doesn't really lend itself to that much automation, even though it's the kind of role (operations) that you assume would.
