I tend to put a big red "WARNING - DO NOT USE" sign on if I want one left alone. A plain "out of order" sign tends to get ignored if people think they're just too important. But a red "this could be dangerous" one tends to do the trick.

How are you with Python scripting? Have a look at these: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/44176381/calculate-road-travel-distance-between-postcodes-zipcodes-python The first one will do it for you but uses the Google Maps APIs (which you may have to pay for now, I can't recall). The second just converts postcodes into lat/long, from there you could use the Haversine formula (not perfect but good enough for this) to calculate the distance.

I have to agree with @mavhc here - I don't doubt that it's possible to get the software working (I've done so with similar stuff in the past) with some thought and applied intelligence as you have done. The point is it shouldn't take lots of faffing about!

Yep, it's old, it's crap, and yet nobody seems to have written a better SIMS-integrated alternative from what I can tell. Why not? Tempted to have a go myself... -
Or that, yeah. Web-based would be best, but given how paranoid exam boards are if they want total control over the machine they should build their own environment rather than hacking someone else's to bits!

That's because it was built for 3.1, it uses the 3.1 shell common controls (perhaps even the old USER controls)! -

Given the age of Nova-T6 I would very much doubt that it's multi-core optimised, although I can't swear to it. -
We watched Black Mirror S5 over the weekend. Avoiding spoilers as best I can: episode 1 was good, a nice take on the whole "VR obsession" thing, although if I'd written it it would've had a darker ending! episode 2 was meh, interesting concept but IMO a 30 minute story dragged out for a whole hour. Missed opportunities to drive the points home too. episode 3 was excellent, very clever and enjoyable story.

All "secure exam" software is pants. I'd much rather they provide a bootable environment (lightweight Linux OS they can customise to however they want) - that way it's just a case of boot them all to that, off you go, reboot when done into Windows.

Yep, it's here: https://github.com/rwjuk/admin-scripts/blob/master/SerialNumbersToAD.ps1 You'll need to add the attributes I use to AD (or use others and change the script accordingly). DumpEDID (for monitor serials) can be downloaded from here: https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/dump_edid.html I'll do a writeup on my website on how to set it all up in a bit and post the link here too.

Intrigued by Halo Infinite, although I'd need to play 4 and 5 first! I love the storyline of the Halo series, even if the gameplay is standard sci-fi shooter. Also hoping to see more about Metroid Prime 4 and the next Dragon Age game.

I use a slightly odd one, but it works for me. [Manufacturer][Model]-NNN I'll clip the manufacturer to keep the names short. This way I can instantly identify what kind of machine it is from the name, and I don't need to rename things if I move them about. PCs have a startup script that writes their serial number (and that of their monitors) to AD if I need that. More useful on sites where you have lots of different types of machine.

They're amazing, aren't they? Makes me much less worried about flying actually, knowing all the detailed work that goes into safety. We're flying in July - I keep annoying my girlfriend by saying I'll download some to watch on the plane (that or bring a book like "QF32" or "The Langoliers") but she's banned me from anything aircraft-related! Apparently either (a) they'll think I'm a terrorist, or (b) the plane will think "ooh that's a good idea, let's get rid of #1 engine..."

@Arthur - check "persons with significant control" under "People". A Mauritanian company owns more than 75% of the shares and can appoint/remove directors. I was confused at first too!

Hahaha fair enough! I just recall that our local Littlewoods had a massive Berketex promo poster on its outside window. You could see it from the other end of the high street!
