Hi, I'm looking for inspiration for an issue that has got me frustrated! We have a wifi network that supposedly has full access on the whole network, wired and wireless. Smoothwall has a rule setup for zone bridging to all all in 10.85 ip's access to all on 172.16.0.0/24. So would cover all wired devices on our network. My question is do I still need ACLs similar to on our core switches or does smoothy and Zone Director take care of access? I can access the servers ok from iPads on 172.18 / 172.19 & 172.20 ip's. But cannot access ip's on 172.17 Any help would be greatly appreciated. I bet I've missed something easy but it's driving me nuts!

Needs to have all aspects of technical that you would expect of an IT Technician, I suppose the title Network Manager, needs to encompass everything so really We are looking for a Technical Services Manager. The manager would not just look after IT services but has to chip in with day to day tech support as the office he/she would live is on another site to where the techies live.

Thanks, ideally we want both, a technical person who will understand us techies with issues and future projects. And a people person who we can get on with and other members of staff. I suppose what I should do is tailor it to fit what we have and use, like Windows server, VMware, avaya phones, ruckus wifi, OS X, HP switching etc, Google apps & office 365 etc....

If you can fire some ideas then it would greatly appreciated. Our Network Manger is leaving soon and I would like all applicants to take a multiple choice test to see what there knowledge is like. So if you have specific questions/answers or key area you would ask questions in that would be great thanks!!!

It is a product done via or in association with Dulwich College called London Learning. The copyright on the EXE file is Birkbeck Associates. The only similar I can find that is still active is: ExcelAssess | The Economics Network

Hi Folks, Since London Learning has ceased trading, my boss in his wisdom said let write our own self marking engine to fill the gap. I dont really see a need for it, having looked on the internet there isnt anything similar specific for excel. Has anyone ever attempted to write on in c# or vb.net using the office tools for visual studio addon? Thanks in advance for advice on doing it or not doing it.

I've not tried this as yet but if you installed apps from a normal Apple ID the first time you run any app on the iPad it prompts you to insert the Apple ID username and password. It makes sense as they were bought by a specific user and tied to an account that has yet to be signed in. This is the bit I haven't tried: if you sign in on AC2 to the store using the VPP apple ID, when it puts the apps on will the be device assigned? So no sign in is required? This is the question I'm asking. Also how do you know if you have enough license?

What is even more annoying then deploying a blueprint and reinstalling the OS is the fact that if you create a profile that assigns a wifi that requires logging into in order to get an Internet connection. We have a set of 32 that the junior school use and to filter/track their history we ask them to sign into smoothwall every 2 hours of inactivity. But the problem is that the apps now only appear on the device once they have downloaded, no pre-install anymore, but this won't happen until a user signs in, thus waists time if the app they want to use is last of 100!!!!!!

Another issue is when assigning apps in the blueprint, then apply the blueprint, if one of the apps fails the whole blueprint isn't applied. Why can't it just skip the app and carry on!!! Arrghh

Is there a way to disable the font size in ac2? I suspect then answer is to create a master iPad backup and restore it everyone the iPads are docked back in the trolley.

I've got both running fine on 10.11 I'm still using 1.7 as we only use it to manage school owned devices that we set basic options like restrictions, wifi network, certs, web clips. Each iOS device is running 9.1 all using the same iCloud account. I've had a quick look at ac2 and it offers nothing extra in profiles that wasn't already available in 1.7 I will move to ac2 at some point because I like the idea of blueprints and retracting licenses from devices and reassigning them. AC2 is in basic form an MDM so we don't need anything else but we do have Profile Manager within OSX server if required.

Sims stuff is bigger, docs storage and DB, so do this but first, as per migration guide. If you have 2014 SQL then use it instead of 2012. Solus is easier to migrate as per migration guide. This is the way we did it.

We have been using it successfully on IE with latest Java for the last 4 weeks. All we did was to add the enlight URL to allowed sites GPO and add the URL in a proxy authentication bypass rule on smoothwall.

Apologies if wrong forum but... The Counter Terrorism and Security Act 2015 was published on 12th March 2015. Section 26 of the Act places a duty on schools in England (and Wales) to prevent people being drawn into terrorism. This duty applies to all schools, whether publicly-funded or independent, and organisations covered by the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. How you you documented this in your IT departmental handbook? Dont fancy getting caught out when the school inspectors come calling :-) Much appreciated!!

It doesn't for us, and logging in is optional. Logging is only required for online services. -

iOS 9 had a major overhaul regarding AirPlay protocol possibly due to HomeKit devices in future when they become commonplace and connectivity surrounding them. AirServer latest, sort out our issues with iOS 9.

I would love this as, but I'm sure it's not possible else why have a volume license version, when you could just download any education faculty version from any of your AD users and install it.
