  1. I'm going on holiday for a week so will take a look more closely when I'm back. Keep finding bugs/issues so that one day, just one day, I might be able to release a perfect product [emoji106]🏻[emoji106]🏻[emoji1]
  2. ExamWritePad-v12.zip ****NEW**** Attached is version 1.2 Changed in this version is now the ability to keep 24 hours worth of backup previous versions but remember only the last 1 hour worth are available within the software. When the software runs it auto deletes anything prior to 24 hours. It keep the backup folder nice and tidy Added also is a small help button to mention the disclaimer, credit the icon creators and also where to get tech support from (redirects to this thread). ------------ If all is well then this is the final version, unless people start requesting more features or post bugs... Also remember that a new build number starts a new backup folder, so please delete any older version folders within c:\programdata Enjoy!! ExamWritePad-v12.zip
  3. any joy folks with the new versions? Seems to work for me now on all windows platforms (7/8/8.1/10).
  4. Spread the word to all educators! ExamWritePad is here
  5. Can I also mention a little DISCLAIMER to say please do not come back to me if all hell breaks loose! Please put the software through your own high standards of testing and when you are happy to use it in a live environment, then you will ultimately take responsibility, not me. This is why I'm releasing it now to give you a good solid month of testing before the exams start. I also hate disclaimers but I have to cover my own backside as I'm sure you can understand :-)
  6. here you go, more fixes!! ExamWritePad11-1520.zip
  7. Do you mean the wording how it is written? Yes I left that in on purpose to she what other people came back with, I also got the same issue. The main menu bar will be disabled while a dialog window is open for colour or previous version. new version coming soon!!
  8. ok please now try this version, should now work!! fingers crossed, it now works for me as a pupil on win10 ExamWritePad-new.zip
  9. ok im on the case, the issue with the startup is because it is trying to loop through all files that maybe locked, hence the error. ill see what I can do....
  10. I did think about an installer but just wanted to get people looking at it. I might even write properly to program files but it might become 'less portable'. Ill see what people feel about it then make a decision later
  11. Ok, not sure what C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\etilqs_NOSv5tCFoPxzVin is referring to. Especially the etilqs part. Is the user account your logging in with called 'username'?
  12. New v1.1 here guys/girls to try out!! ExamWritePad12.zip Should have now squashed most bugs to date
  13. Forgot to mention requires .net 4.0 to run
  14. Can you send me a screen shot of the not so full screen please
  15. Can you send me a few screen shots please
  16. It does use special folders, the path in the config is really only used for initial file search location.
  17. Hi Folks, We have been looking for a good basic alternative to wordpad for exams. So I decided to write my own with the following features: 1. Background colour change for Dyslexia students 2. Auto-Backup every one minute (so you can recover any file from up-to one hour of launching the app - backup files are stored in the logged on users %temp% folder) 3. 12 point size font (screen & print) as suggest by the exam boards 4. Word & Character Counts 5. Its a Fullscreen App & portable (just an exe and config) Please give it a try and if you like it - use it! Any bugs or suggestions please reply to this thread. Thanks!! EDIT http://www.examwritepad.com is now live for people to use...
  18. What is coming soon? I'm intrigued??
  19. We're hoping to still use our mandatory profile for all staff and pupils like we do now. We're limited and storage so don't want any persistent changes back across the network, just log off and it all disappears! We have never had any issues with it after 10 years of doing it through v1, v2, v3, v4 and hopefully v5 in Win10 Also just to add, our office, none teaching staff (those staff that are based in one location and on a specific PC) use the default user profile not a network mandatory profile, just so they can customise how they wish.
  20. We use the on boarding portal for staff devices only, to register their device against the AD username to put them on to the correct wifi network. They are filtered against limited categories. Our pupils connect to the pupil wifi network, then it loads a smoothwall login page where they enter their AD credentials so it identifies them to filter accordingly. They have to login every two hours if they don't do any internet related activity. We have a limited number of concurrent connections allowed
  21. It can become expensive, £1500 hosted, (terminal server [emoji106]🏻) for 5 users, £30 each additional user.
  22. Pretty sure smoothwall can do all that and coming in the next update is google cloud user integration, and I dare say office365/azure user integration in the near future.
  23. I'm running Sophos UTM on an Intel NUC i3, VM image 8gb ram and two cores allocated. It's been brilliant at home, but we also use smoothwall at work, another great product for 1000+ users.
  24. I rest my case, 10 years is long time and will web hosting companies will still offer VPS services for a long time
  25. Do VMware see it that way? [emoji1]
