Ok Captain Aggressive, point out where such an assumption was made - my post was me telling you my background as to why I may feel the way I do about this.

Ok agree to disagree as you're clearly not going to change your mind and I certainly am not going to change mine! I would just point out that not only do I teach and manage all the kit but I've also had the full DSL training. I would simply never ever put myself in that position.

I'm being OTT for suggesting that a male teacher video conferencing with a female teenager in her bedroom in her PJs is inappropriate? I seriously fail to see how! It's not just him that could be doing something inappropriate - she could also, she could forget the camera is on, inadvertantly show something she didn't want to - example from another thread was underwear on a radiator etc. This categorically is a safeguarding issue, if you allow your teachers to do what's being described here you will end up with all kinds of allegations.

We've always been happy with https://www.ssuk.co.uk/ - ask for Scott Passmore.

The number of other kids in the class is irrelevant, they also can't see his laptop screen and unless this is a super rich school the likelihood is that's his personal MacBook Pro. From the clip it seemed she was the only one on web conference with him. How many parents would feel comforatable with their teenage daughter web conferencing with a male teacher sitting in her PJs in her bedroom on her bed?! The tech is not the issue, it's how it's used but this news report is a prime example of how not to do it!

As someone who both teaches and manages tech I can tell you there is zero chance I'd feel happy having a web conference with a female student sitting in her PJs in her bedroom - it is flatout not appropriate.

Ok I love tech and I think Hangouts Meet will work well if used in the right way but that BBC video frightens me. She's sitting on her bed in her bedroom on a webcam to her teacher's laptop and admits she's been in her PJs a lot rather than uniform - it's a safeguarding nightmare waiting to happen and the school are so clueless they've allowed the BBC in to film it!

Enabling Teams for Students in New Admin Centre?
Primus replied to Gongalong's topic in Cloud Services
Yes go into old admin center and turn it on - it's missing in the new admin center like a lot of stuff seems to be. -
So it looks like you took out a 3 year sub in 2017 so your next renewal you need to move to the current pricing and regs. But my point about your FTE count would have stood anyways.

Although actually that doesn't look right since as far as I know the longest you can lock in pricing subscriptions for is 3 years. Ours appears wrong too as I know ours is a 3 year sub yet it says it renews in 2024.

2023-11 however you need to correctly apply the FTE requirements at your next renewal - eg. if you're excluding TAs as they don't use a computer very often but they work more than 200 hours per year you will need to include them now.

Once again with MS it's all complicated - this thread - http://www.edugeek.net/forums/licensing-questions/166829-how-do-you-calculate-staff-fte-ovs-es.html - shows that. However my understanding is the 20% rule never existed and I couldn't find it in any documentation. The documentation I've seen and had consistently quoted by resellers was always if the person worked for 200 hours per year or more they counted in your FTE numbers if they used a computer at all. If they were say a gardener then they didn't count if they never touched a computer at all.

FTE doesn't stand for Full Time Educator. It stands for Full Time Equivalent!

Under FTE it never only included teachers though. That said MS licensing is very complicated.

At the risk of seeming obvious - were these surveys carried out by companies wanting to sell you particular products or by companies who only do surveys and therefore have nothing to gain by recommending or promoting particular brands?

There are plenty of legitimate resources on Google Sites and if you're a G Suite school it's a very useful part of the offer. -
If you're on a budget (as your signature indicates) the Ubiquiti Unifi is spot on for both switches and WiFi APs. The standard (v1) switches in 48 port format come with dual SFP+ ports(for 10Gb) plus dual SFP (1Gb) and 48 RJ45 copper ports. They come in PoE and non-PoE versions. At the core we went with 2 HP 5940s as even as quite a big fan of Unifi their products didn't fit our requirements for the core but at the edge they're great and cheap!
