  1. You cannot treat part time staff differently to full time staff - if a full time member of staff needs a laptop then even a 0.2 member of staff needs a laptop!
  2. Are you an academy already - I ask because if you were changing MIS at the same time as becoming an academy then you would need to purchase a SIMS licence to have access to SIMS remain in place. Otherwise if you already have a SIMS licence then it is perpetual, the yearly fee is the entitlement to updates and support - therefore you can drop paying the yearly fee but still use SIMS to access archived data as and when.
  3. Other than existing contracts running down it is surprising they still have any customers.
  4. I like how they think full screen mode is called “exit full screen” mode
  5. Well Unifi kit supports both SNMP and SSH access so.....
  6. So what’s the alternative you keep talking about but can’t actually name???
  7. This is ridiculous - you said a downside of Unifi is that you can't manage it with third party software, I asked for an example of such software and you're unable or unwilling to provide said example! A further point is why would you want to - the Unifi controller is both easy to use and powerful.
  8. And I’m saying give examples of said solutions. You’re the one saying they exist and can’t be used with Unifi but can with other products...
  9. Well unless you’re able to identify said solutions it makes your post pointless doesn’t it?
  10. Ok I'll ask again, what third party solution would you want to use to manage your switching and WiFi?
  11. Thats a bit like saying if you buy HPE switching you have to use their CLI. It goes without saying and is commonplace. Cisco have their own CLI, etc etc What third party solution would you want to use to manage your switching and WiFi?
  12. Given the context he's not wrong - you cannot seriously be suggesting allowing students to use the Internet without doing HTTPS interception in the year 2020?!
  13. I seriously wouldn't worry - it will be fine.
  14. We tend not to deploy a new release immediately. Also as said the H2 releases have a longer life - if something cropped up and you couldn’t move to a later version you’d have more time with updates on an H2 release.
  15. Agreed get to 1909.
  16. That was in a beta firmware and the controller now has a dialogue option to disable this.
  17. Lots of VM customers on here paying way over the odds - you need to speak to retentions! Retentions will at the very least match new customer offers - you're all on different speeds so just check the VM website.
  18. We have circa 100 APs and circa 40 switches - very very happy with it.
  19. It also depends whether your fibre runs to the cabs could sustain 10Gb - if so you need to look for something with more SFP+ connectivity - the US16-XG would work here and keep you all Unifi and be relatively cheap.
  20. I'd interconnect each of the switches using DAC cables at 10Gb in the SFP+ ports and avoid having both cabs running from the same switch but it doesn't really matter as much since you haven't got a properly redundant core switch - if the first switch dies everything will anyway.
  21. He could only do that at Gigabit since each switch only has 2 SFP+ ports. Edit Sorry you're right I thought he had more switches.
  22. Why not use the SFP+ ports on the 48 port switches to uplink with 10gb direct attach copper? Also you’ve got no resilience. Think about some redundant links between switches or LAGs.
  23. Surely Xbox Live would be a good way to spend some extra Amazon credit?
  24. Well I got an initially very positive response from a senior member of the G Suite UK team, the promise of a follow up etc only to receive the follow up be a brush off. I forwarded this to said senior member of the G Suite team and have subsequently heard nothing so I'm going with nope. The issue is Edenred's email isn't setup correctly - it's lacking SPF nevermind DKIM or DMARC but Google's inability to solve the problem is extremely disappointing.
