  1. GeTech will do this with Chromebooks.
  2. Good luck getting the police to help you enforce that - I speak from experience, if students don't want to return equipment there's nothing you can really do.
  3. Good luck - you'll be snowed under supporting a Windows device that students take home!
  4. Yes the device is on loan to the student and eventually is meant to be returned to the school.
  5. They don't come with PoE injectors but they do have the standard mounting bracket. If you're wanting to mount to a drop grid ceiling then you need the pro mount anyway as it saves you screwing through ceiling tiles and clips onto the rails.
  6. We used 4Gon and got an excellent price on Unifi APs a couple of years ago, more recently for Unifi switches we got our best price from Switchshop.
  7. I definitely wouldn't have some PCs on one version and others on a different one. I'd keep everyone the same. Are you not eligible for OVS-ES?
  8. I would heartily recommend GeTech - we've always used Rebecca and their customer service and pricing has been spot on.
  9. Primus

    Mac server and SCEP

The advice will always be don't use Profile Manager - use a proper MDM.
  10. I’d definitely get a price for a gig - it’ll likely be cheaper than you expect and with that device count will probably be worth it - you’d need to check your line utilisation though.
  11. Well since the MAT is your employer then they’ll have to find something that works.
  12. Perhaps you can continue to work from home and someone from the MAT who isn't vulnerable could arrange to be onsite as much as possible - I'm pretty sure you said the MAT has an IT Team previously?
  13. Guess we’ll agree to disagree then...
  14. So, let's get this straight: In the scenario given you give all full time staff laptops to take home to work on at home, but part time staff either don't get a laptop or they get a lower spec laptop. How could that not be treating them less favourably? If they get no laptop at all but fulltime staff do how could you justify it? If they get a lower specification laptop again what's the justification for doing it. Your previous example talked about not giving them a company car if there was an another method of transport available because of the cost - you're comparing apples with oranges - a £300 laptop against a £30,000 car. Yes since all I'd done was briefly read the legislation, it's not like my post nominals include LL.B (Hons.) is it?
  15. Cool story. Lucky you had such expertise in your family isn’t it.
  16. I think you will find if you check with your HR or a lawyer that my interpretation is correct and yours is not. I will leave it there.
  17. So full time staff hand back the laptop on weekends?
  18. There is no difference between job share and part time staff - in the eyes of the law they are part time staff. The law literally says you cannot treat part time workers less favourably than full time workers - that's not my interpretation, that is the law. The legislation is The Part-Time Workers (Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment) Regulations (2000) if you want to look it up.
  19. Nope that’s not what the law says.
  20. The law says you cannot treat part time workers less favourably than full time workers. If a full time teacher needs a laptop then a part time teacher needs a laptop.
  21. So are they providing the Google management licenses or do we have to procure them separately?
  22. They don’t half seem to have a lot of issues...
  23. They’re wrong. You already have a perpetual licence you just obviously won’t get updates.
  24. When you became an academy you should have bought a licence - academies are not eligible to use the LEA licences. If you never did this then you've been running for a long time without the correct licence in place. If you did buy the licence upon conversion then you're fine as it's perpetual. - - - Updated - - - @kennysarmy can you clarify as above?
  25. HMRC have clarified this - quite some time ago - as long as the primary use of the laptop is for work purposes there is no BIK due and they've been quite clear they have zero interest in getting involved in anything to do with work laptops and the question of them not being used for work etc.
