[21h1] Keeping OneDrive while blocking C Drive
IAMCloud_Curt replied to MEvansLA's topic in Windows 10
@DavR Hi, yes 3.19 address those \\UNC path issues within the IAMCloud FSP driver. If you attach a link in Word/Excel/PPT now via Insert Link or Ctrl + K and browse to your CDM drive, CDM translates the \\IAMCloud path down the actual drive letter path, which persits across multiple users and multiple sessions, so you can safely embed links now and they won't get broken. -
OneDrive/SharePoint drive mapper - which one?
IAMCloud_Curt replied to mdrabble's topic in Cloud Services
Hi @DavR Will this new mechanism appear in a coming version of V3, or will it be V4? A: We are not sure yet on version. Whether it warrants being a major or minor the business will decide that later down the road. And is there somewhere we can sign up to hear about such version upgrades? A: Soon. Very soon! We will have a subscribe type RSS feed on our knowledge base for our releases. You can see the latest releases all the time here: Release notes -

[21h1] Keeping OneDrive while blocking C Drive
IAMCloud_Curt replied to MEvansLA's topic in Windows 10
@DavR This should be fixed in our latest release. Cloud Drive Mapper (CDM) 3.19 (Pre-release) Until now, inserting a link to an Office document (stored on a CDM-mapped drive) into another Office file would result in Microsoft Office inserting the document’s UNC path in the link. The issue with a UNC path is that it is unique to a specific user’s session and may not work for others. To mitigate this issue, CDM can now replace the UNC path in the link with the CDM-mapped drive’s drive letter so that it remains active when shared with other users. While this enhancement supports all other Office apps as is, you need to ensure that you’re using Microsoft Excel version 2503 or higher for Excel files. Please re-test and reply here if you are struggling. -
OneDrive/SharePoint drive mapper - which one?
IAMCloud_Curt replied to mdrabble's topic in Cloud Services
Hi @DavR It's technical name is 'Delta refresh policy' - it's a polling mechanism that we use configurable in your Bandwidth policy settings within Iris. The default is 5 minutes. This is the soft spot between getting remote content updates in that 5 minute windows vs the trade off with Microsoft Graph throttling. The delta refresh basically gets your existing delta token and we ask Microsoft Graph for the latest updates between your last token and then right now (basically any changes in that 5 minute window) we then sync that back down to your local network drives. Beyond the horizon Looking further ahead to later this year, we’re working on the following enhancements, which are still in the early stages of development: Graph notifications Graph notifications will be the single most significant mitigation we can make against throttling. Currently, when users browse their drives, it’s all done on-demand in real-time, which is very efficient. However, when a user keeps a folder open in File Explorer for extended periods, CDM must continuously check for updates to ensure that the folder stays up to date. At present, CDM handles this by polling the Graph API every 5 minutes by default, or as frequently as every 30 seconds. Even with conservative polling intervals, this results in many redundant requests to Microsoft 365, increasing the risk of throttling without significantly improving the user experience. A far more effective approach is to have the Graph API notify CDM in real time whenever a change occurs. Instead of polling at fixed intervals, CDM will remain idle and only retrieve updates when the API alerts it to a change. This will not only reduce the number of API calls throughout the day but also improve responsiveness, allowing users to see updates almost instantly rather than waiting several minutes (or longer if throttling is in effect). Group Policy Objects Link Order - this has got me stumped
IAMCloud_Curt replied to kennysarmy's topic in Windows
I recommend deploying CDM with LICENSEKEY=your_license_key However, doing this via Group Policy has it's drawbacks as you have to create a bat/powershell script to deploy with custom msiexec commands. Could you drop CloudDriveMapper.msi onto a domain share such as \\domain.fqdn\netlogon for example? If you can, let me know and I will send you a .bat or .ps1 (your preferred choice) If not, i suggest PDQ Deploy Free could roll this out easier for you. -
Thanks @ConceroEdu_Brad @karldenton More than happy to demo Cloud Drive Mapper for you. I used to work in education for 10 years before moving to IAM Cloud and we used it across 16 schools before. Just click the link below and you can schedule some time with me whenever your calendar is free 😀 Book time with Curt Blunt

Printing Error (Not Responding) when doing test pages
IAMCloud_Curt replied to IAMCloud_Curt's topic in Windows 10
Hi Steve, Yes that is already set up mate, the printer is actually installed it's just I can't seem to print test pages as it freezing and goes "Not responding" all the time -
Hi, Ever since Microsoft did the security updates last year had strange issues on the odd laptop here and there. However I have hit a wall with one laptop trust it to be the headteachers. Her printers have stopped working, usually I would uninstall the last 3-4 security updates which seemed to fix the issue late last year. However when I am trying to uninstall the updates in control panel the "Uninstall" option just isn't there, it shows for like Servicing Stack and other updates just not the security update I want to uninstall. I have tried the wusa /uninstall /kb:HotFixID in powershell and that fails as well. Apart from rebuilding the machine which she doesn't want us to do is there anyone out there who has managed to remove the updates when they seem to be permanently installed? Thanks Curt

Hi, Has anybody got a fix to set the english UK keyboard before users log in? The UK keyboard gets applied when they are logged in - causes issues with they try using the @ sign on the login screen Thanks

I would set up AD Sites & Services Create new 'SITES' with your IP range for each site Then when you create new DC's put them in the site of that specific school Your LAN traffic then points to that site so when you ping domain.local it will ping it's local DC always as it knows it belongs to that IP range Each site replicates between each other using a token - every 15/30/60 minutes

Hi, School have had a new server build over the summer. Since then, we have encountered a rather weird bug. I would usually deploy a print from \\SCHOOL-PRINT server (Print Management) and deploy to a staff/student group policy. 9 times out of 10 it will then pull the printer on a logon. I had a couple of tickets the other day which bought it to my attention, no printers we're installed. I thought, for now I would just remote on and install it for them manually. Well - I couldn't (see below error) As I tried installing it prompts you to install the driver, then it fails. However when you go into Print Management on the laptop - the driver is actually already installed on the PC and is showing there so why would it need to install it again? I think it's stuck somehow... I began to look at why it wasn't pulling it from GPO - I ran GPO Results Wizard on an affected laptop and the printer deployment has this error When I had a look further into that error websites we're offering guides how to fix, basically by disabling Print & Point restrictions. So i've disabled them for PC/User policies. No change. Spoke to someone last night, they said enable Print & Point Restrictions and bypass/ignore security prompts. Still nothing. I have ran a new GPO Results Wizard and it's pulled through Print & Point restriction changes from last nights changes but still nothing. Having this issue at 2 schools at the moment. Any help is greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Curt

Child Domain DCPromo Error - Recycle Bin Enabled...
IAMCloud_Curt replied to IAMCloud_Curt's topic in Windows Server 2019
Windows Update 2021-04 Monthly Cumulative Update has fixed the issue -
I have already created a child domain in the forest a few weeks ago and it worked fine, I recently enabled AD Recycle Bin and now I can't promote any more child domains into the forest. After a couple of hours of research, a few people have had the same issue after enabling recycle bin in AD - a lot of people said it was related to a security update - however I do not have the affected security update, but I do have the issue so not sure it's the update that's killed it here - but wondering if my version of 2019 has the update built into the OS? I have checked replication and time is in sync and sysvol/netlogon shares are all fine. The error (attached) shows it could not replicate the directory partition due to a database error however when I have run repadmin and dcdiag those errors are passing fine. https://dirteam.com/sander/2019/01/24/windows-server-2019s-january-2019-quality-update-fixes-the-issue-with-domain-controller-promotions-for-new-domains/ Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Hi, we have done Aruba 2930F to US-48-500W - skipped the UDM now and 2930F will do all the routing.
-
In terms of this setup, did you set up port trunks on your HP core to your UniFi switches? If so - did you aggregate ports on UniFi end and set port profile to "All" to allow on vlans to pass through to uplink?

Hi, I am pulling my hair out here. I am trying to create a new VSC - the vlan is already set up and you can get a DHCP address when hard wired into it, so we know the DHCP is dishing out addresses, however when I connect to the SSID I always get 169.. addresses. I've tried access control enabled/disabled dhcp relay agent and pointed it to both dhcp servers Under controlled AP's > config Network Profile > Add new local mapping and tried tagging the port that didn't work Like I say, you plug the laptop into the switch and untag for the VLAN port it gets an IP fine, so routing/ip helpers are working. It has to be an issue with the MSM775 Any ideas? Curt

Hi, One of our primary schools are pre-recording there Teams meetings and then sharing with the students via Class Dojo. Upon recording the meetings it saves into the channel fine, but when the teachers download the video it's all jittery and can't watch it back as the quality is really poor. Has anyone else had any issues or any recommendations to change? At first, I thought maybe there internet is getting throttled whilst everyone is doing their recordings, but I've tested it during a meeting and they're getting 100mbs full speed. Much appreciated. Hi, Apologies if this is the wrong category but there is not one for MDM that I can see. Could anyone shed some light on this please. If you manage a trust IT do you have 1 apple school manager for your trust or 1 separate school manager per school? We have an 16-18 special school and Apple School Manager and Mosyle/Meraki have denied or request, even though it's education apparently we can't join as it's Higher Education. So I was thinking of creating 1 apple business manager account for our entire trust. Thanks Curt

Sorry to dig out this old thread. After some research the last few days I am now thinking the following setup ISP handover Smoothwall Filter UniFi Dream Machine Pro From the dream machine create all VLANs and use it as the core I can then uplink from UDM to 48 Port UniFi switch and then from there 10GB into the host. There are only 2 cabs in the school which are supplied via linked between 1Gb CAT6 RJ45 Has anyone sucessfully got the ISP > Smoothwall > UDM-Pro setup?

This was the route I wanted to take with Aruba core setup and roll out UniFi on just layer 2 side with the controller it plays nicely with making VLAN only networks and putting number of VLAN in. Working fine at one school we have done. Only issue I have had so far is HP core to UniFi 16 port switch and created switch port profiles (vlan tags) for data vlan and access point vlan, that took some playing around. UniFi SFP+ modules are pretty decent priced as well aren't they [emoji1303]
