  1. Afternoon all. Battling through my Mac OS issue list, nearly there now! However I've hit a stumbling block once again. Mapping AD home folders to the sidebar. My current setup is all Macs on 10.11.6 are binded to Open Directory and Active Directory, then policies are managed via Workgroup Manager. I've created this, but it's not doing anything on the sidebar. The home drive is appearing in the dock at the bottom, but this causes an issue in Office products and 3rd party apps when staff/students need to save there work as they can't save it to there AD home folder. Anyone out there got a working solution for me? Much appreciated as always! Thank you
  2. Hi all, a quick plea. Our previous versions stopped working last week, and a few students have lost work in the last week. Due to our backup system failing in the summer and organising a new backup system it's left us a bit short here. We have a backup from July which is OK and we can live with that, the backup points to our Cluster then to our Data on the file server which then got de-duped to our Tape Library. However when I am looking at restoring the backup from July I can't see anywhere to restore the vhd to a different path, as I don't want it to overwrite my current File Server's data. Read a few guides and it seems like you can do it but I am not so sure you can do it with Backup Exec 2014. If anyone knows how to restore a VHD to a different location, I would really appreciate your help. I've attached a screenshot incase you're wondering or confused with the post.
  3. VSS seems to have cleared all our previous versions.. Was working fine on Friday as I used to to recover students work. Is there anyway to get the Previous shadow copies back? I tried this mklink /D d:\vssbackup \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy100\ It mounts the directory correct but I can't then go inside the folder and view the VSS. As I said, shot in the dark, but if anyone's ever experienced there Previous Versions just randomly disappear I'd appreciate some help. Cheers
  4. I have both installed mate. Shall I call Impero regarding new version?
  5. @sydborn Definitely go down the route of virtualizing a deployment server and installing MDT 2013 & integrate a WSUS server into your environment. Let me know if you need help.
  6. Windows 10 64bit Hi everyone, has anyone ever seen this and found a fix? Scoured the internet and found nothing. Help would be appreciated, happening on machines that I've imaged onto Win10 over the summer. Win8 laptops/desktops seem to be fine
  7. Hi all, Clutching at straws here, a major cry for help so don't let me down!!! I'll cut the story short, moved into our new BSF school last year and we've got around 120 iMacs for both the Music and Media department. However, they've never really worked from the word go, and they never got setup right during the installation period by the Consultants who fitting all our kit. I won't be naming names, but I got left with alot of mess to fix on the MAC side of things. It's all new tech for me, I've picked up alot of my Mac knowledge from just reading whitepapers and youtube, I can bind to our AD domain and use Workgroup Manager fine, and I've also setup Deploy Studio Admin recently. But now, I've hit a stumbling block, Music/Media teachers are both getting really stressed out with the fact when themselves or students log in, they don't have there Network Home folder mapped. So I delved into it, began researching on how to get this working, I've tried so many things but I can't seem to get it working. I'm sure one of you have managed to get AD Home Folders to sync onto MAC OS. I've tried several methods via Workgroup Manager and configuring the Dock and Login Items, and I've also done this via Profile Manager on our Mac Server, pushed the settings out remotely and then downloaded the mobileconfig file and manually put them on the Mac but it still doesn't map the network home. I've left 3 screenshots with you to have a look at the error and what is actually happening. Much appreciated if anyone can help me out here, as they are beginning to lose patience and they think the WHOLE of IT is against them, I've tried reassuring them once or twice, but patience is running very low, so I need some help. Thank you Edugeeker's!
  8. Has anyone used any guides to set up RDS before? If so could you link me to them so I can take a look the weekend. Got some YouTube content already prepared to watch.
  9. I knew I had pretty beast spec, that why I thought when you said about my clock speed I began to get worried
  10. @kmount @localzuk - Just actually logged onto OpenManage - Dell website is lying haha
  11. I'm currently sorting this out with our reseller, he needed all our serial numbers and our DEP ID, just wondered if there was something to do in Meraki settings. I read that if you enroll them via deploy.apple.com they won't be able to remove the profiles!
  12. Well we currently have approx 120 staff, but not all will use this. I'd probably say 40-50 at a PUSH will use this feature. Currently our host use SAS Port RAID Mode and it links with our SAN on the network, I think the drives will be able to cope personally. So you reckon have separate VM's for the Session Broker, Gateway and Licensing Server?
  13. Hi all, A quick question regarding Meraki's Device Management, I've setup the profile and deployed it to a test iPad, also I can now deploy apps via VPP - was just wondering if we can disable Settings tab via Meraki? Because at the moment, kids can easily go into Settings and then remove the Meraki managed profile, can't seem to find any options in Meraki system manager and they we're unable to assist me when I submitted a ticket, but I am sure someone on here has figured a way to stop them removing profiles. Thanks in advance guys!
  14. Afternoon all, just want to clear a few things up. Currently planning my RDS project and looking to roll out in the near future. I basically want staff able to access RDWeb and use basic application such as Office and SIMS and the internet. A consultant we use said to me we would need physical servers for this to work, but I thought that's nonsense, anyhow.. I've done abit of research myself and asked a few people are they have Virtual RDS Servers, and said they never have any problems as long as the farm spreads the load balance and both virtual rds servers share the workload. We've got 5 HOSTS in our current setup, 4 of the hosts are Dell PowerEdge R630 CPU: Intel® Xeon® E5-2603 v3 1.6GHz,15M Cache,6.40GT/s QPI,No Turbo,No HT,6C/6T (85W) RAM Installed: 64GB on each host. Was just wondering if our hosts could handle me installing and configuring RDS, definitely got the spec to run 2 virtual RDS servers? Thanks in advance if anyone could advise.
  15. Hi all, Just posting here so I can possibly get someone to shed some light onto an issue I am currently receiving. We currently have 2 AD DNS servers installed here, it's been fine recently and no changes have been made on the DNS end. However we've hit a problem! We currently have a 1GBps broadband package hosted from the local council and our ISP is JISC (Janet), in terms of speed it's not an issue, although our web pages are taking AGES to load, running a speed test we are getting 700mbps down, over 800 upload on an average test, but sometimes in the day if I randomly do a speed test, it might drop to about 20-40down.. But after doing some investigation of my own, I down thing it's a broadband issue, I think this is pointing to more a DNS issue, and it can't resolve the websites in a timely fashion. I've done basic nslookups to google, bbc, yahoo using our DNS servers and I don't get anything back, I receive the message; If I nslookup google.com using google DNS servers (8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4) I get hits to the website; I've added 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 onto the DNS forwarders inside my smoothwall and it made no difference, I've cleared the cache on both DNS servers and restarted the services, also flushed dns. I ran a functionality test on Smoothwall (built in network testing tool) and here were the results which I thought were quite alarming.. (attached the screenshot) Both the council and smoothwall are now investigating this problem as to what it could be, I did update Smoothwall recently but nobody else seems to have experienced any problems like this since the update. The council got me to setup up a laptop in our server room that goes directly to there HP 5800 switch which then bypasses Smoothwall, and the internet is spot on when you bypass Smoothwall. Any help is much appreciated as always. Thanks, Curt
  16. Hi Rick. If you go onto your deployment server where WDS is installed. Drop down your server list and you should have a "Install Images" folder. First things first, if you haven't already create a Install Group and call it something like "Custom Images" for example. Then drop down the arrow on your "Install Images" folder, and right click "Custom Images" then click "Add Install Image" Browse to your Windows 10 disc or folder if extracted from a disc, in the Sources folder you should see an "install.wim" file, just select that and let WDS do it's processing and you should then have a fresh copy of Windows 10 on your WDS server. Let me know if you need any help mate. Curt
  17. Hi all, Looking for an alternative solution for some Digital eSignage. One of our schools uses Planet eStream which works wonderful, however it's too expensive for my primary school, as it's only got 1 TV in the reception area and they come back saying £1,000 for another license. But I am currently using some old software which Sedao created a while back, it works "ok" but many features are old and outdated and doesn't let me do certain things to school ask me to do. I'm look for a cheap solution if anyone knows a good company who they are with/have used for eSignage and I can get some prices off them (or open source) Thanks in advance.
  18. Hi all, Got HAP to work perfectly on our internal network. The council have assigned me a Public IP to get it accessible from a external network. They have dedicated the public IP for the server I have installed IIS on. I've opened the 443 and 80 ports for the IP and made sure all the NAT/Firewall is configured to allow access to that IP. Council have come back and said they can now access our HAP webpage from the Public IP, However I've tried at another school and it doesn't work and it doesn't work at my current school. Internally I browse to https://remote.domain.net and it works fine, but trying to browse to the Public IP I just get nothing. Would this be something my end or council end? Any help is much appreciated
  19. Would this sync to all our mac's if I install on server? Or would I have to install on every mac?
  20. This little windows is getting rather annoying now, for myself & everyone who uses our iMacs/Macbooks. I know a little bit about Macs and I've tried a few things already. Was just wondering if anyone has had this before and actually successfully fixed it, seems like inputting the password it disappears, but log onto another account on the same Mac and it will popup again. We have a SmoothWall UTM-1000 inplace, with a Mac Server, if anyone needs to know anything about my current setup, please don't hesitate to ask! Thanks in advance!
  21. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OqKY9DUzCM Hi guys, just bumping this thread. I've uploaded a video of the deployment process I am doing, could anyone let me know how to fix what's happening please? I've also attached a screenshot from the MDT monitoring tool, and that is what happens everytime I try to deploy Windows 10. Could this be my task sequence or answer file? If you need any information, just ask! Much appreciated.
  22. You plan on using PDQ Deploy, have you looked into the subscription for this? It's quite expensive. Group Policy can push out MSI's and also ConfigMgr can push out pretty much anything. I'm sure you can get SCCM package through your CALS.
