  1. Was hoping to watch Andor whilst Mme LeMarchand is on funeral duty in the Midlands, but she wants to give it another try. So I picked The Rig. It's basically a Doctor Who "base under siege" tale minus The Doctor (though with characters who can do incredible things and make amazing deductions) but with a slightly bigger budget set on an oil rig and stretched out over six episodes. I wasn't impressed and spent a lot of time thinking, "But why can't they/don't they...?". Apparently the Scottish accents are dodgy, but I couldnae tell laddie. Annoyingly, this has got a second season and the ending did pique my interest. I'll probably just read a synopsis, though. If you're in the mood for a "nature takes its revenge" show, The Swarm on Sky is far superior. Unfortunately that one didn't get renewed.
  2. Surely you know that everything must follow The Way of Apple? We had a similar thing earlier this term. Our filter is stricter for non-Windows devices and we found that some of the necessaries were being filtered as "streaming video" because when we opened up that category after hours, things worked as expected. Someone had the fun job of working through https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT210060 which I notice was updated on the 13th, so something there might need an exception on your Sophos. Our Fortigate seems OK... for now.
  3. Odd. A couple of the "Lost" ones have been handed in, and were showing as still connected to the Wi-Fi, so disabling "Lost" wasn't a problem.
  4. Depending on your data plan, it might be worth trying again, but this time hotspotting to your phone to rule that out.
  5. Bit of a long shot, but how much access do you have to your firewall/filter? Apple seem to like to change things for s***s and giggles.
  6. Shouldn't do. I've never "erased" a device (only had to restore them after marking them as "Lost") but I've never had to do anything with the apps; they've all installed once the joined to the Wi-Fi, which causes the MDM profile to kick in and take over. Are the apps marked "Device Based VPP"?
  7. Have you got enough licences in Apple School Manager? Should also show in Mosyle.
  8. Just (after some difficulty) restored one I'd marked "Lost" and GarageBand seemed fine. Where did you revoke the VPP licences?
  9. May always have been free, but Portal: Prelude RTX is free on Steam: Portal: Prelude
  10. Holding down "Home" without the pad being connected didn't seem to do anything, but I tried disconnecting and reconnecting when the symbol came up. May have been a coincidence, but whilst I got the error message below, it did restore the pad! Just need the other 3 to be returned now...
  11. Looked like it was going to work, but then told me to go away as the pad was locked. Not back there until Weds and will try again, but I did try a couple of times.
  12. Yep, a bit of a bad decision there.
  13. My turn for this problem now. Locked 4 iPads that had "disappeared". One has been returned, so I go to Mosyle and change its status. However, as locking the pad seems to disable wireless, this doesn't work. Nor does the old "restore via iTunes". Anyone got any ideas, or who can recommend an Ethernet adapter that will allow the blasted things to connect that way?
  14. Garth Marenghi’s TerrorTome: Dreamweaver, Doomsage, Sunday Times bestseller ("by" Matthew Holness) "Garth Marenghi" presents three terrifying tales that combine into one towering novel of terror. Horror writer Nick Steen's unholy coupling with a possessed typewriter unleashes terrors from his own novels on his home town of Stalkford and he must vanquish three threats to humanity. I don't normally listen to audiobooks, but as this one is read in character by Matthew Holness, I thought I'd give it a go. As well as being funny, it also skewers some of horror's excesses (the first tome seems to be a pointed jab at Clive Barker's recent working out of his kinks in "The Scarlet Gospels"). If you're a fan of "Darkplace", you should definitely give it a listen/read. If you're unfamiliar with "Darkplace" it's streaming on All4.
  15. Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (Cinema) A terrifying threat to world peace has arisen, and it's up to Ethan Hunt and his team (along with a wily thief in the shape of Hayley Atwell) to follow a MacGuffin in order to determine what their actually actually plans. If you've been following this series theatrically, this one is well worth a look. I'm only just recovering sensation in my hand, which Mme LeMarchand was gripping incredibly tightly for most of the last 30 minutes or so. I'm guessing it's getting hard to source the blood of virgins, as Tom Cruise has actually aged (probably not helped by the frequent display of an older picture of him). He can still run, though!
  16. https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/gallery/2023/jul/14/the-2023-comedy-pet-photography-awards-in-pictures Enjoy!
  17. Depending on the level of care provided, you might want to look into seeking some sort of allowance.
  18. Was speaking to an accountant friend last night, and remembered you saying this. He was very surprised at that rate, unless you're seen as "high risk" or have a boat load of other debt. If those aren't the case, I'd seriously shop around. If you're TTO, start visiting banks (otherwise, take a day off to do so) during the hols. May be worth talking to an Independent Financial Advisor, but they will normally charge and/or take a slice out of your fees.
  19. If your APs aren't new, does the controller support them? Have you tried resetting a device or using SSH to remote in and try adoption? Both a PITA if you've got a load!
  20. Champions (2023) (Rakuten with a free rental, but available to rent most places) A down on his luck basketball coach is sentenced to coach a team with intellectual disabilities. You already know where the scores will stand towards the end of the final game, and once you meet the team you know who will take the final shot. The only question is will they go for the traditional sports movie triumph or the "it doesn't matter because they all became a team" ending. That said, it's reasonably funny and quite warm-hearted. Woody Harrelson is to be applauded for not having had Hollywood Tombstones implanted, but he looks like he's forgotten to put his false teeth in a lot of the time here.
  21. TLOU is up for 24 Emmys. https://www.engadget.com/hbos-the-last-of-us-adaptation-scoops-up-24-emmy-nominations-171117148.html
  22. Watched the first two, struggling to stay awake. Don't think Mme LeMarchand wants to bother with it any more. I'll check as she's away next week and I'm trying to pick something to watch. So far the only thing in it that held my interest was the lovely Adria Arjona though, and I could just watch "Emerald City" again.
  23. I have my fingers crossed. I've yet to get into any of the SW shows, but this might be the one...
  24. How tight is the pace? I know @ICTDirect_Dave had some SFF boxes that you could strap to the back of a monitor. Not sure about the GFX capabilities though.
  25. Are you sure the heat wasn't an attempt at immersion for the journey to Mordor?
