Thank you! You're right, it kills the print queue. I'm going to disable Edge Printing (available from 1809) and then probably just use the reg key to put the old windows photo viewer on. I keep reminding staff to right click and print when wanting to print a photo but a lot forget!
-
Adobe Reader because if people print PDFs from Edge it seems to 'crash' the copiers here it doesn't bring up the user code box. I have to restart the print spooler. Also happens when printing photos so must be a Windows 10 apps issue. Hoping its resolved in 1903.

[1903, au] Windows 10 v1903 (19H1) now available from MSDN
gmonks replied to Arthur's topic in Windows 10
ADMX files usually don't get published until a little time after release. I guess we'll have to wait a few weeks yet. -
+1 for SSDs 1st. I've been quoted £20 - £25 ex-VAT recently for Kingston 120GB SSDs.

How to remove Web tab from Windows 10 Start/Cortana search
gmonks replied to mattwilkinson7's topic in Windows 7
This works for Windows 10 Education 1803, you'll need the 1803 ADMX https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=56880 Group Policy – Computer Configuration – Policies – Administrative Templates – Windows Components – Search – Don’t search the web or display web results in Search - Enabled -
We were in a similar situation at one of our schools. What we did to get round it was they offered us another 'basic' package which was £300 - £400ish as opposed to £695 We're not using that but it means we're saving £300+ We've moved to Libresoft at both schools and have found it to be a good library system so far.

Primary School Library Software Recommendations
gmonks replied to SimpleSi's topic in Educational Software
Moved both our of schools over in February. Haven't really had any problems, 1 or 2 phone calls for trivial things, but this is to be expected when changing systems. -
School Bus have one I believe https://www.theschoolbus.net/category/policy-and-compliance/1

This. Somebody I know had their sale fall through on the morning they were supposed to move last year as contracts hadn't been exchanged. When she later bought again, she exchanged a week or 2 before so she definitely knew she was moving.

I'm looking to move to SIP and have been quoted 25+ working days
-
That is quite a long notice period! I may visit the Libresoft stand on Friday when I go to BETT. What frustrates me is when I try and contact MLS via phone you can wait 15-30 mins before you get an answer.
-
What is the notice period for MLS? Since its moved to Reading Cloud, its much slower / laggy. I'm wondering if Libresoft or something else may be better.

Could you take the CMOS battery out on the motherboard then put it back in?

Ricoh are good, they have frameworks with CCS. I managed to get them to hold pricing for 7 years. Always read the small print and have any questions answered in writing.

Hi guys, Having trouble printing from apps such as Edge, Photos on 1803. Print server is 2016 with latest drivers installed and when we print from one of the above apps, I get two jobs appear in the Print queue. 1st is a RAW datatype which under status says 'Paused - Spooling' the 2nd is a XPS2GDI datatype which under status says 'Printing'. Until I restart the spooler to clear from the queue, nobody can print, the print jobs just queue. It becomes an issue when somebody prints at 4pm using the photos app or Edge and then the print spooler isnt restarted until I'm in the following morning. I've tried the following but to no success: · Latest Print Drivers · Turned off 'advanced printing features' · Turned on 'render print jobs on client computers' · Turned off 'Enable bidirectional support' Only difference being when I turn on 'Advanced printing features' instead of the status being 'Paused - Spooling', it's just 'Spooling' Anybody else had the same issue? Appears to be a problem with the XPS2GDI datatype.

No problem, hopefully it helps!
