Move to Server 2012 seeking tips for justification
gmonks replied to speckytecky's topic in Windows Server 2012
Deduplication is a good one, we have saved over 50GB. -
BUMP. Still got this problem. I have installed the Office 2010 Validation Tool which was a suggestion elsewhere, that's made no difference.
-
It would appear, the WDS drivers don't work! I have manually installed the drivers and it now works! How odd.
-
I'll try installing the drivers from the disk.

Bump. Doesn't seem to be down to one Image. I just imaged another laptop with a blank Windows 7 install and the mouse won't click once logged in. I have to press Ctrl + Alt + Del, then click Cancel and the mouse starts working. Any ideas?

Default Printer pushed out through GPO here so not that. But thank you

As it says in the title. Word takes ages (2-5 mins) to open on some machines. Usually from files downloaded from the web. We have ESET antivirus which I have seen on the web as the cause of the problem for some people. However, when I disable it, it makes no difference. Thanks in advance!

IDNS and LDD are very good.

CCleaner on a server benefits and pitfalls?
gmonks replied to beancole's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
I wouldn't use CCleaner on a server. If I had to use it for clearing up / regaining space I'd do it manually. -
Hi guys, I have recently made an image for our old Acer Extensa 5630 laptops. We only a have a few left so I re-imaged the ones we do have left to get another years use out of them. However, when a user has logged on, if they click on something, nothing happens. To get anything to work, you have to press Ctrl + Alt + Del and then you press cancel and everything works fine. I have never seen this before. I have made sure all the drivers are installed and even performed a driver update and still no luck. I can't figure out what the problem could be. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. George

I agree with @jimmy_2k it will save you a lot of time / hassle if you just build a clean 2012 R2 server and just add fresh drivers etc and do it that way.

That was the similar frustration I was experiencing!
-
DHCP even!

Sorted. For some strange reasons in the DNS settings under the router the IP address had removed itself...ugh!!
-
Tried that too! No such luck
-
Restarted DNS. IE also affected.

Hi guys, Thanks for your help. Turns out that for some reason the GPO the proxy settings suddenly weren't defined...upon me re-entering them the problem so far (touch wood) appears to be okay again.
