  1. I would rebuild the server. Support ends for 2003 next year anyway, I would think that solves the problem.
  2. That was going to be my next question! But at least the other machines don't have the problem.
  3. If the network drops out, why are you deploying it?
  4. Have you got encrypt files on the network share settings?
  5. Unless you stage a protest!
  6. HP DC7900. 3GB RAM. 250GB HDD. Intel Pentium Dual Core E5300.
  7. We had Windows 8 come on a bunch of new laptops and desktops. We downgraded to Windows 7. I can see it being a major problem for some staff who will not understand how to use it!
  8. Was on my own here last night. I had some lights on and just simply ignored people knocking at the door.
  9. Hi, My friend has MDT 2012 set up on a Server 2012 server. He has it all set up and when he adds the .wim to WDS on a 2003 server, the WIM images don't appear when he goes to PXE boot. Other .wims to boot from do show up however. He got the .wim file after updating the deployment share. Any ideas? Is this a compatibility problem? Thanks George.
  10. Getting a few more 2012 R2 threads. Maybe a seperate forum is a good idea?
  11. What Sted said. You should have a x86 boot image and a x64 boot image. When you go to boot from the network, you get the choice of which file you want to boot from.
  12. Yes, I think it's good to have a desktop in classrooms too.
  13. Hi, You can view what's being backed up in the job settings. If you go to Job setup and right click on the job, click properties. If you click selection you can break down what's being backed up.
  14. Yes please.
  15. Teaching Staff here have laptops. There is a mixture of Desktop and Laptops in classrooms. Some have desktops in others don't which means teachers have to use their laptops. Most get treated okay but you always get some that aren't. Headteacher has to sign off every laptop we give to a teacher, they also have to sign a form saying they will treat it with care etc. We also have four laptops that staff can book out or can be used if a supply teacher is covering a lesson.
  16. Hi guys, Thanks for all the responses. The teacher will be back in tomorrow and I will try some of the suggestions. Thanks George.
  17. Hi, Windows XP laptop. Every time it's connected to the projector I have to manually change the resolution to 1024x768 before it will display on the projector. Every time the teacher takes the laptop away, the laptop adjusts its resolution and thus when connected to the projector again it has to be manually changed. Anybody got any suggestions? On how to make the settings stick. Cheers George.
  18. I use Classic Start. You can configure it to look identical to the Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 start menu.
  19. I already downloaded it due to a technet subscription. But as 2012 R2 was only released today and not yesterday I think there is high demand hence the reason it's slow. It was the same for Windows 8.1 yesterday.
  20. There are quite a few good improvements that can be found in the short ebook I'll attach. I just set one up as I wanted it to be on the latest Server OS. I came across a few problems but I posted those in the 2012 forum. Just a suggestion that's all. 2012 R2 Ebook
  21. Yes, when I removed the software, I removed everything. Hope it helps let us know!
  22. Hi, Can we have a separate forum for Server 2012 R2 discussions like we have with 2008 & 2008 R2? Thanks, George.

  24. Hi, I have checked multi user mode and a host of other suggestions on another forum. Hate to say it but I give up. I've going to set up a virtual machine and just have it dedicated to WSUS. There is obviously something conflicting with my current setup. I had it running fine on a test machine. Thanks for your help. George.
  25. Lawrence, That's what makes this situation weird. The Update Service service isn't showing.... George.
