I currently have a few issues with my Vpace server, it is sitting on a Hyper-v host which has a fairly decent spec, however the Vspace server has been crashing / freezing with BSOD the past couple of weeks, I have discovered partly the problem is to do with Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 so I have removed that, and that has seemed to of resolved the blue screening. My next problem is any users tries to open a Powerpoint, all of a sudden the screen went blank, logged them off. So the student logs back in and the powerpoint has crashed / pixelated and the screen has changed to green / orange. with a mouse cursor in the middle of the screen. All other programs are opening fine. I ran a repair on the office installation, still no luck. I don't know how long this problem has been around, or if it has cropped up recently? My next thoughts go to the graphics drivers, I have checked on the HyperV what the graphics card is and it is a Matrox G200eW (Winbond). It has the latest drivers, but I think this is where my problem lies. I don't know if it just can't cope with the graphic demands of PowerPoint? I am in two minds of either rebuilding the server with a new install of 2008 / 2012 or buying a new graphics card?

Some of the Windows 7 PC’s have been having very slow start-up times, i.e. 10 – 30mins. This only started yesterday morning, I have not changed any of the GPO’s nor have I made any adjustments to the network. It seems to affect random users, for example one office PC was very slow yesterday, today it is acting normal. The problem is with at start-up it is saying please wait, I have enabled Verbose mode to see what it is actually getting stuck at. I have found that the PC’s are getting stuck at applying computer settings. So I have moved a PC to a separate OU in AD and applied policies one by one to rule out which GPO is causing the issue. I have found it works for a short period time, next time I restart with the same policy slow speeds. This is even without any Computer Policies applied. I have each time gpupdate /force to the PC, this again sometimes takes for ever to apply. I have rebooted the DC which hasn’t seemed to of helped. I have also gone through msconfig and un-ticked any unnecessary programs from start-up. I have disabled anti-virus on both client PC's and servers. I have also checked the event log to see if anything out of the ordinary is appearing on both the client and servers nothing to exciting in that either. Applications and Services Logs -> Microsoft -> Windows -> Group Policy -> Operational I have also gone through the system and application logs, nothing in that either. If I pull the network cable out then restart the PC from a cold boot, this seems to get to the Ctrl + Alt + Del, then plug in the network lead and it is fine at loading profiles. I have also noticed remote desktop sessions to the servers is very slow and creating profiles. If this is all linked in I am not to sure? I am tearing my hair out with this issue, as it is a bit of a needle in a haystack. I am wondering if a switch is jabbering or is out of time somewhere, I am going to reboot the switches and servers tonight see if that cures it. Any extra ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks

I know of this one to, pretty common with alot of staff here they seem to think double clicking in IE is the correct thing to do, which then hides the spell check window behind and they wonder why they can't move on. The user who has "lost" all of the report data was inputted over numerous days, it was half complete when I checked before the weekend, I had a look this morning vanished. iSAMS have been very good at supporting us, but it is very hard to find something which is so random.

thanks for your reply, that sounds a good idea but as it is random what is going missing I don't know how this would work effectively. We could go weeks without data going missing then it would just vanish. I don't know if this happens overnight, but I suspect it is. I know iSAMS do alot of updates which are silent overnight but if this causes the mess up I am not sure. As it is varying in what is missing it is hard to track what is going on.

Hi All, We use iSAMS as our school management system and have been for the past year. We have been having weird issues where random pieces of information would just disappear, you save the record and go back to it say a weeks later and it has vanished. This can vary from anything from amending a students contact details, to whole bunch of reports becoming blank. You can then look into the audit logs and iSAMS states that nothing was ever created or amended. I have tried contact iSAMS support but it is proving to be very difficult as we have no proof that data is being saved. At first we thought it was the user not saving the data correctly. However I have witnessed a member of staff type over 100+ reports and now it is completely blank, I go back into the audit it and no information is available to say that the file was amended on date X, it is completely blank as if no information was inputted. I was wondering if anybody else is using iSAMS and suffering with this or if it is just us?
